I have been a fan of Big Band and Lounge since I was a kid. This sounds just like the music my Grandmother used to play while we baked on Saturdays. If I didn't know better, I'd swear I was sitting in a ballroom with ladies in elegant gowns, dudes in tuxedos, cigarette smoke filling the air while the younger girls swooned over the slicked back daddy swinging his groove.
I really like the music in this one. The guitars, the beat, and the bass with that tip of a saxophone just rolls in a hazy Sunday afternoon. The vocals needed crisping, in my humble opinion. It's hard to understand what's being said, although the melody works very well with the music. It makes me think of what David Bowie circa China Girl mixed with Enigma would feel like if they had a illegitimate child together.
I can't tell you how many tracks I've listened to that sounded poorly arranged, too much of this or that, over the top out of control showcases of bad talent.
THIS is not one of those. It's catchy, well done lyrics, very well engineered. It has the feeling of being dragged under water against ones will while still fighting to stay afloat. I particularly am fond of the chorus.
You did really good with this. I love the way you blended the music to support the lyrics. I agree with Surfstyle that the vocals could be a bit brighter to highlight that awesome accapella. I added it to my favorites because it really is well engineered.
I really liked the bed you lay the voice into because it felt hard and defined like a well muscled body. The voice went well with the bed. The only thing I didn't like is that it didn't seem to hook. You know, like a song that gets stuck in your head. The lyrics were well done, flowed well, had a strong vibe, but the hook...that's the only thing this song was short of in my opinion.
