Very interesting sounds. I think you can guide it maybe a bit more to have a consistent track, but it's amazing what these things can do for us. Is it like a modular synth? James Blake made a whole album with that kind of thing

Honestly? I think if you speed this up to around 135 BPM you have an absolute fire track (I tried it quickly in Ableton and holy crap that's good).
Clearly that's not what you intended, and that also sort of works, but I feel I need something to give the track a bit more punch. Maybe a bit less compression on the master track?
In any case, great work and glad you brought it out!

That's awesome. I know from experience how hard it is to play and record and mix drums - you did a great job. Personally I got so frustrated by the whole process that I now drum on a midiset and then try to find the right samples with it... agonising stuff.

Good slow build-up and then the pay-off after 1:39. One really weird thing, and I'm sure it's my brain, not my track; I somehow can't fully process the kick/hats in the beginning; the hats and the kick seem to have a different tempo - which I'm sure is not the case.

Absolutely epic. And it made me realise I really should consider to work with tools like ezdrummer or superior drummer. Those drums make a YUGE difference over my standard Ableton packs.
I assume you can use them with midi, so I can still drum on my kit, then transform it in such a tool?

So the idea of using sidechain on a compression is that the track A you're compressing (eg an instrument) gets a bit more compression when track B you're sidechaining (eg the vocal) is louder. So you sort of punch a hole in the intrument for the vox to shine through.
The other standard example is to put a compressor on your bass and sidechain it to your kickdrum. When the kick is played, the bass gives way a little bit, and that means you don't have to dial up the kick to insane levels to still hear it.
It's a neat little trick - it's not suddenly a world of difference, but when you get used to it you can hear it, and at some point you also start hearing when it's missing.

I think you produced a great track; to get to the next level you probably face a similar problem to me; slightly smoother vocals.
I think you can probably dial them back a bit to fit them better in the balance of the mix; but compress the synths/keys with sidechain so the vocals (despite being slightly less loud) still stand out more.
I might be wrong on that though. There are many producers here that are a million times better with vocals than I am and don't get me wrong, you already did a great job.

It's very interesting. In the middle part though I feel there are quite a few competing elements - I'm not sure they all play well together. Can you check that? Unless it was your intention of course ;)
