you got some clipping going on there, which is unfortunate cuz otherwise this would be an excellent track. try going back in, turn everything down, and bring it back up with a limiter on the master channel. really intense clipping at about 1:00. also just eqing some of the stuff, tweaking things will help get rid of the clipping.
sounds good so far. maybe work on the drop before the beat kicks in? i dunno what else you could add. maybe i high lead? that might make it sound like clownstep though.
i like how its coming along. i dont want to give any criticisms until i hear the final product, ill just say that i agree the bassline is a little too basic, at least for my taste, and the intro could use a little more to hook you in. i hear little pieces of an amen break in there. and an amen snare. and theres another sample in there i know ive heard before. anyway i cant wait to hear the finished version
listening to this track while reading your story was for lack of a better word, awesome. the story seems to portray the imagery of your story perfectly. i love the choice of instruments. perfect for this story about life and the understanding of death. i think you did a great job, such an epic tune with so much feeling. my only complaint is it ends so suddenly, without warning, but i suppose that could've been intentional as that's the way life is =]
I'm glad you enjoyed this track and thank you for taking the time to express your views on the track. I know it ends suddenly and it was intentional for the track to end suddenly but to be honest perhaps it ends too suddenly. I will attempt to put a better end to it, as other people have suggested a fade out may 'put a rest' to the track. I will consider and upload a better ending version of the track where it will also be available for download. Thank you again for your time in replying and showing your appreciation. Peace :)
this is a great track. you know who it reminds me of? dave matthews band. great composition. the drums are simple and dont overpower anything. i lot of feeling went into this i can tell. if only everyone put their heart and soul into their music as you seem to in this tune. i dont really have anything negative or constructive to say as you seem to have this down. keep it up! =]
Thank you so much, I like Dave Mathews so thanks for the comparison. I think I sang the song in about 6 or 7 takes and settled on this one, I also had a version with a double track that was okay. Thank you again for your kind review.
at first i was like ehhh... then the beat picked up and i was like YES. this has potential. needs more to it though. some keys maybe? i dunno surprise me. but finish it! its good so far
i like it. sounds like a great mix, the piano gives it lots of depth and emotion. my only criticism is the kind of flute sound at the beginning. my ears just dont agree with that for some reason. i think maybe because its taking away from some of the piano frequencies. other than that this is an awesome mix and i cant wait for the lyrics =]
Hey, thanks for the review! I guess the flute sound is taking away from some of the piano. I'll try something else. Thank you for your thoughts and help!
Lol thanks, the problem really here is I dont know enough Dub to know anything about it. So i just end up making whatever. Its fun though for a short little track, nothing special i dont think.
yeah i dont necessarily agree with the mario sample at the beginning but other than that this is an awesome track. especially that scratch at about 1:03. =D keep it up
not trying to offend, just some constructive criticism: if you're serious about your music, you definitely want to spend more time then 10 minutes on it.
Thanks, I am very serious about my music, however the tracks I put on here are just for fun, I havent really got good gear to record with at the moment, just getting use to music programs.
I spend most of my time writing for my band which I play bass in, we are called kalelscape, check us out www.kalelscape.com
I got a degree in music performance and the singer has a degree in music production so he the one who records us, usually with pro tools.
so please forgive, but these songs on here arnt taking too seriously.

i definitely recognize the use of fl studio haha. sytrus makes that bass sound and i remember the vocal thing "This is a dangerous gro... uh groups that we're dealing with." i think your beat needs some compression. it will add definition. and maybe define a more constant hit pattern. im not knocking innovation, if thats what your going for, im just saying the beat definitely doesn't fit too well with the dnb genre. other than that try not to do all the mastering on the master channel in fl, it can cause that tracks to bleed together which is what joker666 is talking about (everything sounds like it is coming from a single source). again im not trying to insult, just trying to give some constructive criticism. hope i helped =]
im sorry but i made this track with reason 3 and the basslines are special synths for the combinator. but anyway tx for the help. check out my new tune run fox when it is online. a bit of the material is from fossil fox but its get a new direction. and the beat get his compression lol
yes that was so awesome. i friggin loved it. love the mc. theres a synth sound i really like that comes in later in the song. i need to go work on some dnb tracks now haha
i like it. although theres some things in it i guess i could say are not really my taste. like what sounds to me like some reversed and panned cymbal sounds. and the drums could use a little more punch. but the synths and pads are excellent. they sound amazing. makes me want to get an R3 =P
nice the guitar sounds cool with the beat. but i would work on mixing / mastering. try turning everything down quite a bit to fix what to me sounds like a bit of clipping in the low mid frequency range. maybe pan the hat, and that synth-ish piano sound. and throw a limiter on the master channel to bring everything back up again. also its a bit repetitive, i'd spend some time working on fills and drops. other than that really great for your first beat man. keep it up.
this one is great. i love all the loops you used. theres a nice feel to it and then the detuned distorted sounds that come in about midway through the track gave it a nice change. definitely a great track. good work =D
this was nice and chill. i like it. i do think the beat could use some work, but thats a matter of taste. overall really cool track. you gunna get an mc on it?
i dig it man.. what would you do diff im open to suggestion.. afterall i tried to fully master it the best i could in like an hour but theres still things i could change around.. but def lemme know your thoughts.. thanks for the review
this song is awesome man. it sounds perfect for road trips no sh*t. so mellow and happy and damn good audio engineering at that. i would like some details on it though:
Did you record this in a bedroom studio or pay for studio time?
Is this your band? If so, what instrument(s) did you play or did you sing?
If not, what is your relationship with the band? (IE, manager, producer, etc)
just like to know what im hearing. get back to me =]
The room ha ha ha ha ha ha is 5' by 5' no space. 2 piece band, but we will be using live drums soon with a couple of drummers we know, both different styles, one jazz and the other rock. I'm SKUNKAPE(Anthony)and SWITCHBOX(Scott) we wrote the song and played all the instruments besides the drum beat which Switchbox whipped up. Skunkape rights the songs Switchbox engineers them. Thank you for the kind review. It means allot. peace and I herd Austin Texas is one of the best music scenes in the country.
hey i just got cubase 5 as well! im loving it so far was able to make some sick dnb and trip hop beats with the new tools. anyway this song is sweet! im really diggin it.
i dont know much about how the different electronic genres are categorized but this tune is just cool in its own right. maybe you could help me to learn some of the genres and how they work (any part of the electronic genre doesn't exactly thrive in south texas, mostly its hip hop, rock and metal here)
Heh thanks! Yeah cubase 5 is pretty good, although there are a few things that i think they have screwed up on, hopefully they'll fix them soon. But it still works pretty much okay so! its not that bad.
Um and yeah i dont mind at all, you should add me on msn, chud37@hotmail.com.
dnb is mah favorite electronic genre. i love the nasty basses and the fast pace action. that said, this tune is pretty solid for something you put together really quickly. i cant say i have any criticisms except for maybe that the hat loop seems to stand out a bit too much. (especially when the beat picks up, it can be distracting) other than that i like it alot. awesome tune =]
yeah i completely get what your saying, i thought the same thing. Heh yeah i quite like it, i used to like DnB (i wasnt mad on it but it did like it) when i was in school, So i have a bit of it in my collection. I might make some more at some point :)
