Yeah this is great track right here, I always love the old school hip hop. You could develop this track even more and make it even better, maybe try chopping up the sample and use a MPC or keyboard to create a cool melody. My only complaint is that at the end of the sample it sounds like perhaps the samples hi hats and your hi hats are off, but just some tweaking could fix that. Overall good job!
LOVE IT! I always love to hear some dubstep that is abstract or experimental, because I always hear tons of dirty dubstep. Granted i'm listening to this song using my crappy laptop speakers but I love the variety in it. I also really think you could do a lot more with this song, maybe even add a sudden drop and turn it into some drum and bass... Keep up the good work!
Hey I saw your thread and decided to give your track a listen. Its pretty good for your first dubstep track. The drop was kinda weak so I would advice using either a white noise build up (I think you're using FL, so try using the 3x osc to get a good white noise), or build up with the kicks or snare steadily speeding them up, or lastly use like a synth strings to build up in volume. Also the track needs work on the mastering, although this is usually pretty tough for anyone to get a great mastering it just takes time and practice to get better. Keep at it and I'll be looking out for your second track!
EDIT: Oh also I forgot to mention you should check out youtube for some good vocals, for example I used a quote from the movie Reefer Madness that I got from youtube in one of my tracks. Its just a good way to make your tracks sound better (personally I'm not a big fan of the FL vocal synth). Just try to find some quotes or acapellas.
cheers billboo, the tips to build up the drop are much appreciated, and i shall certainly be taking up the advice on the youtube vocals, thanks again for reviewing
I'm really liking that string loop it kinda reminds me of that petey pablo song show me the money. I would only suggest that you add some fills and make the chorus a little stronger. Overall good track with a lot of potential.
That intro was great It really got me hooked. Also the drums, hi hats, and percs on this track are all fantastic. I would only suggest that maybe the synth in the intro might sound good sidechained, and I was expecting more of a drop after such an awesome intro. Great track though, I loved it!
Yeah this track is tight, it's got an emotional or inspirational feel to it and I like it. Although I think the drum track needs to be stronger (it may just be my headphones cause I thought the same thing about the last track I listened to). Overall good stuff I like it.
yo billbooo thx alot for the input! I noticed that in my latest instruments there were the kick and bass a bit too much so I reduced em but yeah the basssy stuff is always never the same when listening with headphones ^^ keeepup cheerz dusty
This track is great, I would even buy this track if it was on itunes. It reminds of sigur ros. I might like it even better if there was a good female singer on it, just my opinion.
Thanks for the review! haha ya, i was thinkin farisha would sound pretty cool on this track. And Sigur Ros, thanks for suggesting them, they sound Awesome! i thinks its one of those things were the chords speak to you more than the vocals, THAT is true music in my opinion.
Oh yeah this track is great. I love how the track is always changing up keeping me interested, plus thats a pretty nice drum loop. My only question is whether that flute sounding lead was a sample or something cause I feel like i've heard that riff before.
Absolutely amazing track! I especially love the drum track and bass line. Everything fits and works great together in this track, real funky and catchy, nice track.
Yeah that is a pretty nice beat, I really like the variety of organs you really keep things interesting by adding new things here and there, real nice. However, the drums seem kinda weak, it sounds like an 808 kit, and the open hi-hat is too loud, it overpowers the other tracks. It sounds good though, keep it up.
