Classic, and classy, awesome playing. I too would count my self in as one who would love to see you playing this live. Thick and juicy sound. Loved every second of that.

Hi Jeff,
Hey, I appreciate you checking out some more of my tunes. Voodoo Swamp Blues has been out for quite awhile. I entered it into the John Lennon song contest, but didn't win.

Slide guitar is fun and takes time to learn it.
Anyways, glad you liked it....I'll do another sometime soon.

Bye now,
Randy

So funny, this song makes me laugh. Very enjoyable. It's a song that I instantly with I was jamming along to. My only complaint is that it didn't last long enough. Cool track, awesome groove.

Pumped up man, I really like your voice. I haven't looked yet, but I hope you have more songs uploaded. Do you do all the writing? or with a band? Great tune. I agree on the high's, I kinda thing the low end sounds a bit muddy (I'd be interested to see what people with more mixing experience have to say about it and if they have input as well. I'm trying to figure out something similar). I hope you're not getting the feeling I'm going on your songs and saying the sound sucks. I'm not. I just like the songs and would love to hear more individual detail in the instruments!

Keep rockin

Well, im glad that you guys were honest about the EQ...I agree and its always IMPERATIVE to get another ear on your recordings during mixdown/mastering. Unfortunately for me I lost the hard drive with the masters and accidentally formatted the backup master when I built my new rig :( yes, I'm a dumba$$. But we were lucky enough to cut the CD and I can still remaster it a bit from that. Look for the entire CD on iTunes, amazon, rhapsody and a few others in April (it takes forever to get a track approved on those sites) under "Sets of Failure". It has already been uploaded, so no tweaking the EQ on these LOL. Thanks again for all of your input; that's what makes this site so awesome!

I like the groove of this song. I feel like there is detail in each instrument that I'm missing out on. Your voice comes through well (you have a strong meaty voice), I do feel like there could be some more separation between the different instruments. I can't offer a suggestion on that I'm afraid, but I hope this is helpful in some way. I'm still trying to make whats in my head come out the speaker, and it's tough.
Great Song, rock on.

Thanks again, I wanted to give this a lazy feel, so that may be why you cant discern between instruments, I may have overdone it a little. Its just such a laid back tune that I wanted it a little lazy. Its far and away my favorite song so far, but I'm a little biased. Maybe a midrange exciter would pull them up a little. I'll give 'er a shot!

Really awesome sound. Love that tele lead. Super smooth sounding, makes me miss owning a tele that's for sure! Love that clean sound thanks for a great blues beginning to my day.

Thanks! After owning many guitars over the years, I find the the Telecaster is the most versatile in the sounds you can get from them. It is not surprising that the guitar invented by Leo Fender more than 50 years ago is still a classic today.

Cool vibe, I really like the in/outro's, really chill but playful. I like the drop off at 2:40 ish, I also find my self wanting to hear the different layers dropping out over a longer period. Well... I'm listening to it over and over and I don't know now, maybe I'm just getting chilled by the string sound and I don't want it to end. Any way, all that being said, I like the track just how it is.'

Nice Play

on Led Zeppelin - Since I've Been Loving You by xflil
194 plays and no reviews?!? Well, personally I think you did a righteous job, Great job, I could hear the vocals even though they weren't there. I expected not to be that impressed even if you did a good job, but... you did a really amazing job and I will be giving this one a few listens that's for sure.

If you hate your Boss DS1 I'd have to recommend the Ibanez Tube KingTk999ht, there was a major distortion pedal review in one of the mags last month, (sry don't remember which) but it scored great, I can vouch for it's awesomeness (don't listen to my track as an example though, haven't used it on one that's finished yet). But seriously good, any way, great job thanks for putting that one out there.

I'm trying to pick up a slide again and learn how to use the damn thing! Apparently just buying more of them doesn't work. This is great playing, I love the amazing quality you have hear, and how clean your playing is. There is something that I find funny about the second part. I don't know what it is buy I like it.
Sweet job

Hi there,

Looks like your making the rounds of my tunes. Great...I am sure most of them will be quite different than you have heard before as I try not to copy anyone.

I am glad you enjoyed the Blues 101 tune. That was the 1st blues tune I made. The second and third ones are a lot different yet.

Not sure what your hearing in the second part of 101. It is in a 'C' tuning as whereas the first part was in "E" tuning.
I used my Strat on that one with a combo of slide, picking and overdubbing to fill it out more.
I'd love to give you more reviews of your songs, but you only have 1 up and I reviewed that one already. When are you gonna make more?? I like your music really.

Anyways, thanks for the nice review,
Randy

Well I Listened to Western Showdown first, I thought that was cool, but I didn't expect this at all. Really cool, I like that super saturated tone! Rock on man, I'll really take those tone comments seriously after that!

Rock on!

Hi ya Wookie,

Your welcome to download this tune if you want to. Most of my rock tunes will probably 'get your attention' if I may say so myself.

A lot of TLC went into making each one to get the best quality sound out. Many layers of guitars and stuff give it the bigger sound.

Recording the rhythm guitar in one channel panned hard left, and then played again in the other channel panned hard right is a start.

Some poeple use Line 6 equip. or Guitar rig to get a nice guitar fuzz or saturated sound.
I use 'Amplitude' and 'Eleven' (an amp simulator) I got with 'Pro Tools' to get the sounds I desire.

Thanks for your comments.

Hi there Wookie,

Thanks for reviewing this tune and the Rock-Jap one. I appreciate your comments. I understand that the fuzz sound in the song I reviewed of yours was your just getting use to things.

Certainly no harm in experimenting at all and then uploading a song to get another perspective from members here.
That's how we all get others opinions and learn from them to improve our music.

Glad you liked this tune as well. It was fun to make. Not a complicated song at all if you listen to it. Rhythmn guitar, some simple lead, drums, a synth bell sound, and synth generated gunshots. :-)

Thanks Wookie.
Been at this a long long time.
When I decided to develop this song, I could not rest till it was complete. The guitar track was worked out note for note by tedious repeated trial and error to the point that I can forever play this one verbatim anytime anyplace without thinking about it. I appreciate your kind comments. I strive to be as versatile as the giants of music that influence my own expressions.

Sorry about the heart, but thanks for the tune and hangin it all out there. Great playing.

Hey Wookie. I appreciate your compassion. No need to be sorry though. Without the experience, there would be no expression and thus no song. By the way, here is an example of a single drum loop throughout. Had planned to have my drummer replace the track, though we never got round to it. So you see, the single drum loop can indeed work in many situations. Keep hammering and thanks again for the compliments.

Hello Wookie,

Sorry I am a little slow in replying to your review. After I write this I will check out some of your tunes and give a review.

I appreciate your review, and yes....there are a lot of good musicians on here. Some are even teachers of music. Many have played in their own band for years as I used to. And so you will find quite a variety of musicianship here.

Thanks again,
Randy
