thanks inky it was a challenge to get all the names to somewhat rhyme 5 pages of paper work and lyrics
and about 3 days of compiling it all together lotsa
fun it was!
i was wondering about doing this ... i do a spoken music, kind of thing and i thought this would be interesting ... you nailed it ... the text is great, the music is beautifully constructed ... mucho bravo!
i dug the vocal alllll the way through it. The music is on and interesting on top of it. I would love to hear a high quality mp3 or something ... this suffers from the compression, i think ... there is a lot going on here, sometimes and it had a hint of buzz to it .. but, sweet, sweet track, nik ... big bravos ...
i agree with other poster ... not that important ... just keep making it as you hear it ... i just use electronica, myself, as I have a hard time classifying my instrumental music, as well ...
this was great ... I don't think it is quite break beat, a little slow for that, but I am also not good at genrelizing .. but i thought it was really solid and i enjoyed the uplifting feel of it ... i didn't hear anything that i would change ... bravo ...
hey inkybreath (awesome name by the way...)....
I am utterly pants at categorising music. My reasoning was that i was inspired by DJ Shadow and his stuff is normally filed under breakbeat....tenuous i know. If you could tell me what genre you would suggest this was, I'd be grateful! oh and thank you for taking the time to review this track!
really nice, empire ... crisp and full beats ... the 'close your eyes' chorus is a bit too clean jumping into the track, but I like it that way, in the end ..
first off, I did enjoy the track ... liked the feel & sound of it, a lot ... I think it will serve it well to let the initial beat establish itself, with some of your diversions ... and use the breaks a bit more sparingly at the end ...
i am a mostly loop only constructor myself .... i just want to say that I like the sounds that you have going on here ... I think you need to establish the groove a little bit more before releasing into the pleasant chaos ... it's always interesting to make instrumental tracks come full circle ... and difficult ...

The compression robs the piece a bit, but I can tell that full quality must sound really good. It stayed interesting and seems to come pretty full circle (I always lose my way in a piece ... hehe) .....
If any of that fuzziness is not due to the mp3 compression, I would work on the levels a bit. There were some of the sounds that I was wishing were more robust. But, that is a good thing, right?
and comfortable ... the beat works pretty well for me (thought we can always do better, hehe) ... as he gets more comfortable, I'm sure he will be able to add his own little inflections, which is the only thing I feel is lacking ... and extra quality to his voice/delivery .. it sounds like he is well on his way ....
if you're looking to nitpick ... i would say that at points, some of the levels were low ... in the beginning, there were points where I wanted one of the layers to be a bit more present/dominant ... other than that ... keep it up ...
