Cool name mate for the track, pads sounds good. Nice ghost loop you got going there. Might need some more edits?Layer more drums to, the kick is not to audible. Nice variation in the second part. Keep at it.

Beware of the snare? Why?Whats odd about it?Well the samples are well loud mate , but it drowns your kick entirely.Pads are huge a tad bit to much IMHO. Try not to change volume sliders on the snares and kicks cause they keep the two main elements of your groove audible to the listener.

I actualy liked the drums in the intro, but there's some major tempo issues with the vo x fx in there, maybe you intended it? Well there's distortion on it a wee bit to much you cant really play this loud ion a PA set mate. Try removing the plugin completely or just tone it down. Also the kick is not cutting through the mix the ambiance is over powering that area of 100Hz , so try to EQ that out. Side chaining can work if you use it on the kick though, but as a rule of thumb try not to use samples that occupy the same frequency mate. Please read this

it might be helpful to you.Remember this is my opinion and I am no pro yet but one can hear when something is not in place, feel free to comment on my tracks to.It's all about improving mate.

Thank you for the detailed review!!!!! This is really what I love, a good honest helpful review!!! I bookmarked the page, and I will be making changes. I have absolutely no experience mixing tracks down or mastering, in fact I really don't even know what that means. I just got near field monitors, but I am still shooting in the dark as far as knowing what I am doing. I will have to shoot you an email, and if you are inclined, please give me some help! And thank you for listening!!!!!!!

A real old skool sample of a typical house beat for the commercial usage indeed. If that is the sound you were going for then you nailed it. It do pick up some issues with tha sample though, now it's either that you added a plug inn to give it that hissy warm feel to it and intended to sound like that or it's over EQ'd for effect? It might be a tad bit in the high range ,EQ'd to much at the high end? The melody does compliment the main loop and sound very spacial in the mix.Great for those radio tracks you here when you drive to work on a summer morning and stuck in traffic but enjoying the downloaded track,....mmm *smiles*

Touchy subject indeed, piano works great mates, lyrics drops in, words taken to heart, the pad is nice and all those layers create a subtle mood. The beat is taken further back in the mix and out of a club perspective it wont work, but I don't think your intention is to play this in clubs? Will work nice with a documentary though. Good work guys.

this was a one off for the competition no club vibe here but i knew i wanted to use a serious topic for the comp after watching the news for a few minutes it was an easy but sad choice!
thank for the review shamus!

ALright mate I listened and you have some fresh ideas going here I'm going to assume youre not to long in the game of making music and make the mastering comments short. Some parts of the track are clipping, maybe you wanted the distorted feel to the track? It's to short man make it longer and don't forget to EQ your sounds. The piano is way to loud mate. The idea is cool though and thats what you must focus on for now, get your ideas down and out. Worry about these things later. The vox loop sounds cool and moody, sets a certain vibe to the track as well. Remember review others tracks and they will return the favor almost every time.

Feeling that sub mate it sits proppa in the mix, the melodic part does sound a bit empty, maybe some more layers in different note keys. You need to get a rapper on this mate. nice one

Trance....mmmm...the techy synth sounds clear mate samples are good. Beef up the kick though it's wimpy, use more layered kickc / toms to make it sounds huge, and boost EQ wise at 100 to 150Hz. The melodic part is to loud but as I can hear from within the mix it's the feedback that make it louder. More variation to will be good, I like the idea though and if you read more on Eq and mastering you will make great tunes mate.

Air intro, sounds big!Mellow beat...dream scape like playing with ones mood, very ambient like. The pad might need some toning down, think it needs to sit a bit back in the mix?? Defo feeling the drumming I can so see me use it for DNB tunage.Layered sounds with the pad works for me it just sounds a bit to loud in the mix.Overall nice track mate.

Hey Shamus...your absolutely correct!....I mixed this through my PA(should have used my smaller monitors)and over compensated for the greater bass response...won't do that again!,guess that's why pro's use producers....it's great to get other perspectives..sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees....cheers

Not feeling the synth intro...beats are crisp though and claps are cutting through nicely. Shaker ads some needed variation. If it was up to me I'd ditch the dreamy synth sound.

Snare roll intro...this is heavy rock....the vox is low and scary, the drums are pretty clear and if you used samples it's clean. I'd say to much top end there roll some of it off. Rock ain't my style of music but on the mastering side it sounds ok , just look at the top end, cymbals and hi hats.

Rolling bass intro and offbeat kicks....nice pan on the sweep sound mate...offbeat sounds and quirks continue.Synth is dark that laser kick,to sharp mate, layer it with one lower in pitch to roll of some of that high frequency that's hurting me ears, lol.Variation rolling quite nice. You sound like a Reason user????What you using mate? Some nice ideas in here I like the reverb vox and the gam etype synth....Needs more sub IMO. Nice one.

cheers for the advice and tips, gonna re-work this track very soon. i know what you mean about the laser kick being too punchy and high, i used reason 4.0 and logic (to master).

on We beat on a door by USSR
USSR sup mate???I gotta give some DnB tips mate. You need a serious of samples mate, the first a ghost loop,a loop and then layered beats,to beef up your current loop, probably the kick and snare. Your beats is a bit wimpy, meaning soft in comparison to your beat samples. What I can see is that you do have what it take to make a track, just sharpen up those mastering skills, mixing to and your on your way of a very good track. Just my opinion mate.
