The melody on this song is very celtic and mysterious, this reminds me of michelle tumes a little bit. (I don't think I spelled her name right) You live in Canada and it shows in your music. I'm Canadian too. One thing I think would really help your voice is to always be thinking about pitch. Use a piano and match melodies absolutely as close as possible. This song has some flat passages that are only a few cents off, but noticeable. Anyway, that's just constructive, not an insult. You have a wonderful voice. Keep it up. Waggly
Yeah.. I'm pretty much self taught with my singing and I kinda threw myself into this track. I probably should have spent more time practicing the vocal bit, but I have 2 boys, 11 and 13 (plus take care of an autistic child) so I have to take my recording moments when I get them lol. I have a cover I did of Situation a couple years ago where you can hear Brandon screaming in a tantrum on it in the kitchen. (Yep I need some studio space lol)
Thanks for the critique, it helps me... cool that you're Canuck too! :) Lisa
This is great, I love good ballads. Thanks for the review. I added one of your sax loops to mattskat, it sounds really good. I had to stretch it a little cause my song is in F, and the loop was recorded in Eb, but it turned out nicely I should say. Cheers, Waggly
Vocals should be in sooner, but I love this. This is inspiring. I was hearing a really cool melody in my head, and I would love if you could send me a copy and let me put it over top so you can hear it. This is a way good groove. 9/10
Enough with the genres already, there are too many. It's electronic, and it's cool, I love it. I would bring the snare out a bit more, but this is way cool. Props, Waggly.
cool, ambient shit isn't really my thing, but i like it a lot. you do have a few notes that really don't fit, and when you have that much reverb, it makes it that much worse, but this is way cool.
I like the song, I don't like the sound of the lead though, it's out of tune, and it sounds like a cheap trumpet. What I do when a song doesn't sound full enough, I add a pad or some strings with some cool chords. They don't need to be excessively loud, but to enhance the mood and timbre of the song, they really really help. Peace
Some great chord progs you have in there, I'm happy to hear some original music on this site. Loops are cool but not when you can't write music for shit. That's lame. You rock my friend. Peace
This is very cool, loop takes to long to come in in the beginning, but, when it does, this just made my day. This song made me very happy. That's what well written music should do. 8/10
Wow, this is a great song. This had me bobbin for sure, but I think it could be better. It needs to be louder first of all. It needs some master comp probably, but the drums aren't loud enough, I would bring out the kick and snare. Great vocal line though, I thought this was a very well written song. Good job
Gotta love the fucked up music. I can almost always tell a drunk song by comparing it to their other stuff. This has a cool ending too, I like the harp. Not bad
I really dig this. Not really folk though man. I grew up in a house that worships folk music (cept for me). Bruce Cockburn, and Leo Kotke are great folk musicians. not really sound like this. This is tight, had me bobbin.
Cool, but I have a few constructive comments. I'm not dissin, but I think it reminds of something I would hear on how it's made. The bass sequence I don't think sounds that great. I'm just not feeling the notes. However, having said that, at the first part of the song, you were right about the ice age thing. I feel that...Cool song
I have to agree with both of the comments. I would love to hear a different rapper. I know you might be friends with the guy or whatever, but honestly, he stinks. He's not very tight (really annoying, I hate loose rap), he's british trying to rap with an american accent (that has never worked, and never will. Rap is strictly american) and he has no passion and is rapping too quietly into a shitty mic. otherwise, you sound fantastic, it could use a lot more low end on the singing and bring it down a touch.
I like the song, but I'm going to give some criticism that is only constructive. I think the drums should be significantly louder in the mix, or at least the snare should be compressed and brought up to the proper volume, and the vocals weren't bad at all, just a tiny little bit flat.
I am a huge perfectionist. Some of my best work I have almost ruined by spending so much time evolving it and making it too complicated. You did the right thing by spending 5 days on this. The only thing I personally don't care for are the arbitrary claps. They sound cool on 2 and 4, but elsewhere maybe not so much. That's it though, and it sounds tight. Good work
