Quote!..It's been a while since I've posted anything new here as other projects have taken my time, but this is where it all began again for me, so I will always try and support the site.
Ditto!
I still burn bright but sometimes i have to dip beyond the horizon lol.
Wow Kenny, it's been a while but it looks like you are doing some really great stuff......this is fantastic work. Great band, great vocals, everything about this one says "HIT RECORD" all over it.
Man, there is nothing to criticize here. Just a great track to enjoy my friend. I hope all has been well with you.
definitely has that late night in the city vibe Kenny.....This one really puts me in mind of some of Chris Rea`s songs that I have recently spent some time listening to in my search for a bit of inspiration.....and that means its friggin awesome.......Ed
So, I've had a listen now to the original. I clearly didn't read your track description correctly as I thought you were doing a cover.
But no, you came up with the words (and sang them) so it's even better than I thought.
Original is good but crying out for a good vocal - which it got.
Good luck with the minor fixes. Small changes can make a real difference - especially if you do lots of them. Sometimes they make a difference in ways that people can't actually express.
So, if you dropped a drumbeat in a bar and then fixed it, some people wouldn't be able to tell you what had been changed - it would just feel better to them.
This is the way I try to think about all the heavily detailed micro-editing and mixing I do - all those little things will add up to something significant in the end.
This is really extremely good, as everyone has already said. Vocals and guitar really stand out (very effortless soulful voice eg on "behind", "heavy load") but it's great right from the first drum fill and then guitar solo etc.
3:13-3:16 guitar reminiscent of some of George Harrison's playing on his classic Something.
There is indeed a bit of Willie Nelson in the vocals (wouldn't have though of it if I hadn't read it).
I don't know the original but will listen later.
Maybe I can help by suggesting some minor "fix" type of improvements.
I can clearly hear an audio pop edit just before 1:24.
Guitar solo starting 1:26 is great but too loud, especially, but not only, the first few notes. I'd just lower any offending note's volume - easy fix.
2:08 the drums drop a beat (I should add it's a good and suitable drum track).
3:32 I can hear what might well be you opening your mouth to sing so it's another sort of minor pop (maybe vocals recorded without pop shield).
Final fadeout is not complete so track cuts off a little too abruptly (easy fix).
These are really very minor quibbles but I believe if something's good, why not make it even better. These minor problems are really easy to fix though playing and singing like this certainly isn't.
If you don't fix these things, there's a good choice no one else will ever even mention them as they don't get in the way of what is an excellent piece of music.
Easily the best thing I've heard from you though the John Martyn cover was also very good.
Thanks SJ. The original had Adolf Hitler's voice on it as it was supposed to represent the Dark Reign of terror, he and others like him have inflicted on this world. I called a nazi a racist and all sorts! Gotta love music right?
Damn peace loving hippie LOL! :D Well it is a more positive message this time around though. Well done Kenney, hey i like that idea of Viralsilence where the drums cut out for a minute, i like doing that myself.
If I could still dance this fast without stopping for a wee drink I`d come out to your club Kenny (& scare the hell out of the kids).....Definitely made to cut a rug with and my speakers like it (they got a bit of a workout)....good listening too......Ed
Hey Ed. Now I know this aint your thang, which makes it an extra special compliment for you to come all the way over here to listen!! Appreciate it bro and just love your new track Now and Then.
i like the feeling a lot Dark. i like how you "wash" a sound over the mix here and there. it is very effective. i can really let myself be taken over by this mix. great work. keep going brother.
Oh this drum line bathed in incredible pads and this voice in the distance ... ! What an awesome spiritual trip ! Loved snorkeling along the thread of your track, Kenny .
Thanks a lot for this amazing moment !
Cheers :D
This track sounds pretty good! I would suggest that the dreamy wave synth maybe not dominate the whole track though. A little breakaway from that would add more drama, and then, if it was added back into the track later! Just trying to help! Other than that, the vocals and synth did sound great together!

Thanx for stopping by, it's been a while indeed, I hope you and your family are all well.
I got a great vibe from the music when I first heard it, much like your Sandy Hook track when I first heard that.

You've made some really valid points - and may I say in a very nice way - and I will be fixing the issues you mentioned when next I remix this song.
Thanx for your time.
