I'll just say I was VERY reluctant to even leave a comment cuz (1st) I'm listening on the speakers at work and (2nd) I'm not a tech head, and that's the input you're looking for.
And I know you didn't have anything to do with the muzic, and I can go to Mr. Cole's page and comment on that end.
However, I listen to a lot of muzic here and we all know your work is top notch! Sounds crisp and clear my end! That's my one note.
Sorry I couldn't help more :-) however, this is a very good track to use when people opt to use my vocals. It'd be nice to hear more tracks with this quality, at least close, so I will use this as a reference. Off for now... Thanks Malu!
Thank you Patricia! I was looking actually for exactly that answer...how it plays on your end and you've answered it.
I'm looking at this from an engineers perspective that just recorded for 14 hours straight and now needs to do a rough mix. The input you guys have given me will most likely be the input of the artists as well.
And yes Mr. Cole and the guys at Telefunken did a great job. They have lots of such sessions I just needed and acoustic one that was approved for educational purposes.
I've posted the links so that people can check out both Cole's site and eventually download the multi-tracks and experiment.
Dude, this is one of the finest productions on the loop, period! The vocal and music arrangement is simply breath-taking. LOVE, LOVE LOVE this! Take a bow bro can’t believe this has only received three reviews thus far! It’s criminal!
Thank you! However the production credit's go to Andrew Cole and the team at Telefunken. I merely downloaded the multi-tracks and did a mix to test out a new plugin. I agree they did a great job in recording the track and I've tried to glue it together with some tools.
First of all is your avatar a photo of the guy who mixed down Justin Biebers last album? That's a great picture.
Man, You've pulled off a piece of musical genius here mate.
You're asking US to comment on the mix? I'm listening to this and thinking "I need to go back to school"
Crystal clear and professional sounding all the way Mahloo. I knew you were good when i head what you did with Wonki's track but do us a favour. Don't post too many tracks because you'll make everyone think they suck lol.

Thank you for the words. Yes the mix is what I wanted to know about as the music was produced by Andrew Cole and the Telefunken team. I was just trying out some new plugins and I wanted to hear some different opinions on it.
Now this sounds mint!..I'm struggling to find any flaws but I'll do my best in giving an honest appraisal....beautiful bass tone and levels, articulate, supportive and consistent,it predominates with the drum track which as you'd expect from a country song isn't wheeled out to the front of the mix..the keyboards are sitting exactly where they should be,slightly diminished causing no frequency overlap, but resonant enough to ring on the chord changes..the guitar like the vocals steps up at just the right time to take a stroll out in front of the band.....Now the vocals...fantastic sound!..and here's my only slight critique..interestingly it falls into the presentation being too good!lol...I'll describe it this way..it's like a magazine cover, where a normally attractive woman has been airbrushed into unnatural beauty..the mid to high frequencies are too sparkly, too rich..in short Mahloo you've done your job too well!haha..I think the increments are in the bee's dick region and seriously I think this is a great track...there's also another factor to consider, the equipment I'm using to monitor this track is ok by home studio standards but hardly top of the line pro studio gear and it is an mp3 file...I really tried my best to find some faults, but I failed!lol...cool stuff man!...cheers Dave
So, I listened to this one on my computer speakers a few times, then on the monitors, then decided to put on the high priced headphones and I have to tell you Malu, the space in this mix is unbelievable. It is so nice to sit and hear ALL of the instruments, each one crystal clear and each one occupying its own space.
I especially like the little bit of echo I hear on the female vocals (at least I think it's an echo/delay of some kind)....it gives this a 3D effect for sure. I have a suspicion that this one if listened to on a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system would be really spectacular.
My friend, there is a reason why you are considered the top audio guy on this site, and this song illustrates exactly why. Kudos to the performers, but a huge tip of the hat to you for a job extremely well done. I'm not sure what plugins you are testing, but I can say that in the hands of an expert like you, the results are nothing short of spectacular.
Now this is what I call production.....you are a freaking genius. I just wish these were through. Both songs are so different, yet what shines through is the quality of the work.
I have no clue how you do it, other than you have busted your A$$ learning and doing all these years. It is always a master's class in sound when I stop by your place.
I anxiously await the final product on both of these.
I wonder how I missed the reply button for your comment....I apologize for that.
Thank you very much for your way to kind review! It means a lot!
As do how I do it..... I have no clue...things just seem to work. I do listen to a lot of music and that helps as everything feels natural. I did spend a lot of time learning, used to skip school to work on music and hang out in the studio and that went on for about 13 years...kinda spent part of my childhood in the studio...as I'm still young. Lol!
Well fuck me... you kept this one quiet didn't you?
I've actually been waiting for this day - you've always seemed like you really know what you're doing - and now here it is in my ears and I'm not disappointed..
The first track is right up my alley and it's a shame there isn't more to listen to. The accordion is awesome! I can see it's gonna be an absolutely top notch track when it's finished.. :)
The second track is a bit too Ricky Martin for my taste lol
Any other tracks we can all have a listen to posted anywhere? :)
Heheh thanks Toonz! I've had a long period without song writing and lately it kinda caught up to me and started doing it again. Been far to busy telling people what to play and how to sound (Had some recording sessions that have been killing me since December)
I'm still waiting for the vocals to be recorded on the first one and the second one will probably happen next week.
At the moment I don't have music posted on any other sites but I'll have a couple of surprises coming for you guys and hopefully they'll be pleasant surprises.
i was just a-listenin along and that breakdown came, and everything just stopped!!! awesome! def some dancin shoes need to go on for this one. great ending too.
listened to it twice, surely did, and enjoyed it twice. nice malu!
iluv songs that bring back mems...Kate Ryan- Desenchantee and then Hard & Tango- This is my DJ... Accordian is dope and is needed to remind us western peasants of something from the eastern past. 2nd part is very Santana like, but i say give Jam & Spoon a run for their whatever...Keep up the good work, enjoyed :)
This is absolutely awesome, has an Eric Maya feel about it. This is really great. If you haven't found a vocalist for the first one I would highly recommend checking out some of ImDangerous's work, think he would absolutely kill on this.
Hey thanks for the review! I have to agree the first track does have an Edward Maya vibe to it mostly because of the accordion. I do have a singer recording the vocals but I'll bookmark ImDangerous's profile just in case. Thanks for the lookout!

Monitoring conditions don't matter as I'm actually looking for as much variation as I can find in monitoring systems.

I did add echo to both vocals, which normally get's automated but since I've only spent a couple of hours to get this going some things slipped.
That type of delay is very wide...wider than a simple stereo delay and it's achieved by using 2 mono delays feeding each other.
The mix is stereo so I'm not so sure about the 5.1 option.
The plugin is a console emulation and I like it very much especially on such material...now if only I'd live in Nashville.
Thank you once again for the words and the support.
