Lol...that is freakin funny. You always have some awesome sounds bro. Love the ratchet sounds, the chickens give me the creeps. Poor chickens. :)

Thanks bro, I must confess that those are other ways of saying dirt bags of the female kind, around where I am from. :)

I just felt like doing a ballad. Most of the stuff I do is quicker paced. I appreciate the support my friend.
Thanks again.

Is great to hear some proper Rock/Ballad music made with guts and emotion.Great drum programming and the guitar playing is intense, big and ballsy 70s style.Great, great work. Two listens in a row and its growing on me.(Would love to listen to the whole mix)

Well done!!

Very kind of you Optimistic. I appreciate the support and you taking the time to listen and leave a review. It still needs some work and it is missing something, besides vocals. :)

Thanks again.

This is jammin! I love your guitar work, and it's nice to hear an organ in there! It's a mighty fine song!

topvega replied 7th Jun 2013 - 12 years ago
Thank you brother, always nice to get some good feedback and a pat on the back for the guitar work. I try to put some Organ in any song that I can get away with. I think it can add really good depth and color to a track. This is one of the few songs I can put in the finished folder. It just needs vocals. Thanks again for the support.

I dig the guitar solos! They aren't always easy to shred out man but have em sounding good.
topvega
topvega replied 5th Jun 2013 - 12 years ago
Thanks bro, it's always nice to get some good feedback on solos. Back when I played in bands I never felt confident enough in my soloing to contribute with them on stage. Since I took up Home Recording I feel my skills in that department have grown a bit. Still have loads to learn but I can fake it pretty well...:-) Thanks for giving it a listen.

sounds great. i hear some "pissed off" or "cussing out" vocals being delivered in this one! great guitar work/overall mix. good start for the day! peace.
topvega
topvega replied 5th Jun 2013 - 12 years ago
Thanks bro, glad you liked it and I appreciate the feedback on the song in general and especially on the mix. I think I have come a long way in the Mixing/Mastering department. Was brand new to the whole recording and mixing thing. Was pretty lousy at it for a while. Seems like I can get a decent mix now. As for vocals, that is all that is missing. I pretty much consider this one done. I will attempt to figure out some vocal melodies for this and maybe write some lyrics but I am no singer. Maybe I will get lucky and someone who can sing will jump in on this. Everything I have done is open for collaboration.
Thanks again.

The Queens would love this one man. Great job as usual. Keep the faith bro.
topvega
topvega replied 5th Jun 2013 - 12 years ago
I will indeed keep the faith my friend. Thanks. I think this is one of the few I have done that doesn't have that "live" sound to it. Sounds more studio done, and I really worked hard to get it. I don't dislike my live sound and others seem to dig it, but there is something sweet about getting that studio sound. I don't have to tell you, your stuff always sounds fantastic. Studio quality. So it means even more when you chime in with some praise. The support is greatly appreciated.

Nice work. I always love great guitar work.! good sound you have going on here!
topvega
topvega replied 5th Jun 2013 - 12 years ago
Thanks man, that's a hell of a nice compliment. I don't know shit about theory or even scales, I am self taught and hearing that feels good. I could benefit from taking some lessons though. Maybe someday. As for sound, I am a bit obsessive with the sound and tone of instruments and overall mix. I sometimes spend more time working on getting a sound for a guitar or bass part than anything else.
Thanks again.

This is an incredible fusion of instruments working together! I really like this one a lot. My only input is that this should get more plays and reviews! OUTSTANDING!!

topvega replied 5th Jun 2013 - 12 years ago
Thanks bro, I appreciate those really kind words. I think this is my best track of all I have done so far. Except for vocals it is done. I spent lots of time working on the EQ for each instrument in the mix so that they would blend together well and not step on each other. Your kind words make me feel good about putting in the extra work on it.

Thanks again for listening and for the support.

Lol...thanks man. Yeah I believe the drum sample came out of a Hip Hop folder of mine. :) Gives it a slight Hip Hop Rock vibe. I appreciate you coming over and giving it a listen even though it's not your usual habitat. Thanks for the support.

Thanks bro, I appreciate you giving it a listen and being kind enough to comment with some feedback. I am especially encouraged by your kind words on the mix, I have been working hard on trying to improve my mixing and mastering skills. Been playing guitar for a while but the whole DAW and mixing is new to me still.

Thanks again for the support.

topvega
topvega replied 25th May 2013 - 12 years ago
Doctorcatface, I love the name bro. :) I also love and appreciate the support. I can't take any credit for the drums as they are a sample. All I did was run some effects and EQ them to where I wanted them. Guitar, bass and keyboard was all me so I thank you for the kind words in those regards. I believe a good track regardless of genre should be one that pulls the listener in and engages them. One thing to say it, whole different thing to pull it off though. :) Thanks again bro.

Oh yes , "stoner vibration" , the perfect phrase!happening sound, nice mix, love the layered slightly conflicting guitar riffs working off each other!(I know ..sounds a bit OTT, but thats what I hear)!Where DO you get your drum patterns from? and If someone wanted to add a few vocals to this, where should it go after? bob.
topvega
topvega replied 25th May 2013 - 12 years ago
Appreciate the support bob...always nice to get some feedback. I spend a lot of time trying to get a slightly conflicting feel going without going overboard. Always looking for that perfect tone...I feel it really sets the mood of a track. As for drum patterns and samples, I search the web and download quite a few drum sample packs off bit-torrent sites like Kick Ass Torrents. This particular drum sample is my all time favorite, which is obvious to anyone who has listened to my last 15 tracks or so. :) I think I have used this sample more than half the time. Most times for me the drum sample is where I start and I just tweak the sound of it till I am happy and then grab my guitar or bass depending on my mood and see what it generates. As for vocals, I have an open door policy. If anyone wants to add vocals or guitar or anything just hit me up on my email and I will send you the stems. I don't have the masters of my older tracks but anything I have done this year I have. I can download the stems in whatever format you like to work with. Toppervega@aol.com or TopVega@gmail.com both work for me. Thanks again for the support.

Well let me give John Garcia a call and see if he is not busy. :) I dig Kyuss and of course Queens of the Stone Age. Will see what I can do about getting some vocals on here. I am a big fan of Stoner Rock. I appreciate the kind words my friend, and also thank you for giving it a listen and leaving a comment.

Dunno what to say except that I'm very sorry for you, Vega . Accept a big hug from me .

I love your track with this 70s touch in it . Rock-blues is the style I used to sing in the past and it speaks to me a lot .

Take good care, my friend . My dad also left because of this f**** disease, but now he's having a sweet time up there and I'm sure they tell us not to be sad for them .
