This is so good Elaine!
I like the strings that you put into this track, along with the brass!I know how much you love all mixed with a little funky elements, and I just started to think that this track does not have anything funky in itself... and then at 2:09, right in my face, funky vibe haha love it!
Great work Elaine...dload and fav!
Def had to come thru for a listening.Hmm that's some wess coast c-walkin, gin n juice sippin type of beat(oh wait, i see we have a thing in common production-wise..we go crazy with the drum transitions :)- Solid!
FRECKIN love it!! So cool. it's like very vivid, almost Disney-esque sounds but still very authentic and mojo-ish. So cool Elaine Darlin!!!! outstanding actually.
The drums on this sound vaguely familiar (the way the snares are). Anywho, this is a pretty cool start you've got going on here. My suggestions are A.) To end the song with the voc-sam playing one last time solo'd (possibly with a slight echo added to it), B.) Punch up the levels on the bass so they're more pronounced (also consider maybe having a part of the song with the bass playing without the beat), C.) Consider bringing the lead synths back again (like maybe, 2 more times). D.) Think about polishing that one drum fill part that starts @ around 0:60 (kinda fizzles out after a few times, ya know). Beyond that this is pretty solid. Lates!
Hi Temototokiku Rufushimoari,
thanks for the review :)
It's just a demo which is why I didn't allow it for download, it was more about showcasing the vocal, but still I like your suggestions. If you wanna have a stab at remixing I'll try and get the files to you.
Thanks for the listens.
Elaine
Dunno why, but this kinda reminds me of the Cowboy Bebop theme song mixed with the title theme for the NES game Xexyz. So you've been feeling the bug with this genre too, ay, coolness. Isn't it fun to play with. So is this a WIP or...? Just figure its kinda short to be a whole song is all. Anyways, nicely done. Lates!
Hi DV,
it is done...perhaps I'm going through a MrE phase...remember when all his tracks were 2 mins or less lol.
I'm slightly more interested in making loops and trying to write poetry at the moment which might explain why my tracks aren't as long.
Thanks for the listens :)
Elaine
You are rocking the drums on this!
I like this very much!
Perhaps... I hear just atmosphere?.. You have a short burst of awesome there, .... perhaps some atmosphere... like... say you are walking into the bathroom of the club, and the track sounds muffled?
then downshift the track into high gear?
:)
Faved.
Dang on the no d/l dog?
Highly recommended.
Hi John,
I always find it difficult to get the vocals exactly as I want them. When I'm mixing the track they seem fine but once mixed down seem to lose some impact.
However in this piece the idea is that I'm speaking on the phone...still, I may try to make them a bit louder.
Thanks regarding the delete button...hehe.
cheers
Elaine
Elaine in drum and bass edition... annnddd I've already put this in my fav :)I agree with MStokes, this drum and bass backing, goes well with your vocals! This sounds great, and great work Elaine!
Hi Alen,
I could have just put this under Spoken Word but I thought I would be daring lol. I really enjoy DnB.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment and fave :)
Elaine
hello, Elaine - the bookending sound design and the music setting for these lyrics is terrific - fav part = that brief cocoon of waltz-time, just a great detail in a heavy track that never sounds ponderous - sad energies and light touches abound - much much respect
Dunno if I rev'd this one before, but I certainly remember the 'pella. Not only because its so beautiful, but coz of the coaxing I did to get you to record some vox (am glad you rose to the challenge). As for the track, the way it starts sorta reminds me of a fusion of New-wave & old skool (west coast) Hip-hop. Its a really decent fusion of styles. Can't think of a single thing to suggest for it. Lates!
No you wouldn't have reviewed this before...this is my version, thought I should finally do something with the pella lol.
Yep I have you and a couple of other LM "old-timers" to thank for my spoken word "career" hehe.
Glad you liked it.
Elaine
Dunno how I feel about the "Twinkle, twinkle" bit (maybe if ya tweaked 'em a lil with effects and then repositioned them to where they played alongside the drums, choppin 'em up too to give it an old House sorta vibe). I think my fav bits of this are the bassline, piano, & LFO synths (?)... The whispered vox are keen too. This is def remix worthy. Lates!
Hi DV,
if you want me to send you any files I can. Used to use esnips but haven't for quite a while but would be willing to upload the files if you want to remix.
The reason the nursery rhyme isn't completely in sync is because that's how she sung it...and I did try re-positioning it slightly recently, but felt it lost something...Anyway thanks for the listens and the feedback and the fave. :)
Elaine
This track has such a sense of mystique about it...I love the way it progresses. The little child voice is very haunting...
The synths and piano are just awesome >.>
I mean, damn elaine! so much feeling...I Love it.
Great work.
Only gripe is that the ending was so sudden :(
It didn't really seem like a sudden end to me, still I have heard it so many time while making it I was probably relieved it stopped lol. Seriously though, thanks for listening and reviewing.
Elaine
An interesting study of contrasts. A sweet voice reciting a lyric that is intensely deep, emotional. The oddly uplifting music by alividlife backing such a melancholy introspective. This is magnificent! Bravo!
Thank you Chris I appreciate the review which was very thoughtful I think.
My original reading of the poem was much more melancholy but this new reading reflects the fact that I'm much happier now.
I will pop over to your page and listen to your track. Thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment.
Elaine
Thanks Dani...considering she didn't have a metronome and was just singing because she wanted to, I think Alicia did well...and then when I started to make a track with my 'Come with me' vocals it seemed a shame not to use the nursery rhyme.
Anyway cheers...your comments are always welcome.
Elaine
Hey Elaine, hearing a lot of tracks featuring your spoken words recently, its cool to hear all the different techniques and ways they are incorporated, works well as an intro here... yeah this gets my freak going! Sweet yet ghost like. dig it.
Hey good to hear from you. I actually made this track a while ago but could never quite get it how I wanted it and I'm still not 100% sure. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to listen :)
Elaine
I didn't know you uploaded tracks, I would have listen to them sooner. I don't know the whole concept of Spoken Word but I like it. I like your voice and the melody. It's very soothing, and it kind of makes you think. I like it. Keep up the good work, my friend.
Hey Bobby,
I wasn't going to upload anything...but then I had finally finished this track and the video. I'm glad people like it...the poem is very personal to me...as I'm sure you understand...thanks for listening and reviewing.
Elaine
Sweet again it is good to have you back on the loop, great vocals, both lots, very different piece from you that I have heard of late, but in saying that so loving this, great beat and bassline, excellent percussion work here sweet, very nice synths and piano, again clarity and arrangement spot on as I have come to expect from you Elaine...Nice work...Peace n Respect....Fav'd....Estefano...
Hey there Estefano,
always good to get a review from you. Thanks for taking the time to listen and I'm glad you liked it enough to add to your faves.

Your vocals could come up a bit, I found them a little difficult to hear. Other than that, you've put together yet another sweet piece of music.
