I like this Sasu my friend. Nice vibe to it & very good use of the vocal. Lovin' the break down half waay through then the huge, banging come up that follows. Nice work mate.

Sweet! I like that bass tone. Sounds really funky, but adds such a richness to the whole track. Some beautiful guitar. Really pretty and soulful vocal used. I like the break around halfway- DRAMA! I get the Erykah Badu thing but think it is also kind of santogold. Great track

Your productions have such a simple yet refreshing sound. They are creative and make me listen and re-create and add all the while. This made me think of Erykah Badu :-)

My hat off to you sir for another job well done!

There she is,the singer herself, yayyyy! Hey,thank you for your talent,Ms.Edwards.

I don´t know what it is,if it´s your persona or vocal style or what it is,but you have these ideas that fit my thinking 100%. So its not difficult for me to make a song around your vocals.

In this newest song you actually have this short melody that is exactly what i sang too when i first listened to that pella. You went after the same exact notes as i did.

That kinda stuff means good things for the music ;)

Wow,Erykah Badu,you say? Okay,im speechless,in a good way.
I know Erykahs style and ive heard some of her earlier stuff. That is a high compliment. But you are the Erykah in this story,Patricia.Im just coloring the background ;)

Hahah yeah,in one of your videos where you evaluated that Give it up -song we did,i saw that you became so happy that you basically sang over the song the whole time. That is a highest compliment ever to me.

GOD bless you,Ms.Edwards. Keep on singing with your sweet voice and also remember to sing when you really feel it so you will honor the LORD the most :)

GOD bless :)

Right on Sasu74...you had a fantastic vocal to work with...but it takes big talent to wrap it up so dm well in this kind of music that just embellishes the song so well....A very pro piece of work and kudos to you on the production...I can`t hear a single thing that is not really well done...Ed

When i hear certain acapellas by Patricia,a song literally materializes to me.After that realization,i start to carve out the song.

All i can say is that it takes a little time and you really have to qualify every note that you use.If you have vocals in a piece of music, you have to support the feel of the vocals, sometimes even the lyrics.

Basically,i don´t give myself any slack when i do music for real. But of course,i enjoy the whole process,it´s what i live for :)

Thank you for your very kind words,Tumbleweed. It´s nice to get some feedback from other music maniacs like myself, lol.

We can only improve,my friend ;) Leeeets geeet mixiiiing! lol

Awesome sound, so refreshing. Can't describe those chords you use. Nice guitar solo!

Guess I never did post the version with the backgrounds huh?

Very warm! Very nice feeling conveyed here.

Hi there,Ms.Riperton ^^ I guess you liked the song then? With that vocal track, how can you fail, heh.

I like these pellas better that have no backgrounds because when someone adds the background vocals, that always forces the music in a certain way when they have chords in the vocals etc.

Your harmonies are lovely for sure but your single vocals give me more freedom to do my own thing or thaaang :D

About the chords...i guess you mean the strings mostly? The chorus is at least : H major7,C#minor 7,D# minor 7 and D major 7 . Strings use also some basic chords but i didnt even look what they were, lol.I go by the ear all the way you see.

Thank you for your lovely vocals and GOD bless you always,Patricia.

Speechless! ... everything is so in place!

I could be wrong but I have an observation: I think you might be a 'rhythm' person as the guitar solo does not seem 'planned' but rather done as it goes :)
OtherIdeasProduction
OtherIdeasProduction replied 24th Jan 2012 - 13 years ago
Yep,you got me,Storm ;) I´m a drummer first and a drummer at heart so of course rhythm is VERY important to me.

That solo is actually a first and only take.Just before recording i played around with those 4-5 first notes that ends in the 5th interval. Then i hit record and what you hear is the first and only take. The synth that doubles the guitar in the solo, every note of it was put in there by hand...argh,lol.

And that mix didnt come easy either.I think it took me 3 or 4 days of just listening and balancing sounds out ,little by little. And that 3-4 days was after ive already done a basic mix. I went microscopic with this song, you could say, lol.

By the way,i dont even have any fancy speakers or anything. Its all about your ears! Dont ever believe otherwise :) All you need is time,no distractions and REALLY just listening every little thing.

GOD bless you,Storm and thanks for the good feedback :)

WOW what a great tune. Drums are rocking along with the great guitar solo. Loved the Guitar Hook! The Drums Bass and Guitar drive this baby with nobody straying (TIGHT). MIM4E´s vocals put the icing on the cake and this baby is a winner!! Outstanding JOB!! Where's the FAV Button when you need it!!LOL Filaofsoul

Wow,sir...you obviously got something out of this song, heh. Yes sir,i kept it tight as can be so the listener would focus on the vocals and lyrics more. Its all about respecting those sweet vocals ;)

I am really honored to read your comment sir cos looking at your list of fav.music and albums..pheeew.....you sir,you know your stuff :)

" The Drums Bass and Guitar drive this baby with nobody straying (TIGHT)" That nails it right there! You got it ,sir!

All sounds are supporting the vocals and when the guitar solo comes, then the whole band supports the guitar with all they got but TIGHT! When it comes to music...if it aint tight,it aint right,LOL

Lol,yes where is the fav button and also a "quote" button would be nice in here.Oh well, minor details only ;)

GOD bless you for the comment, sir and thank you :)

Hey, this is excellent. What a really well thought out track. Great riffs and nice groove. Love the drums, nice and punchy, lovely guitar work too. Fabulous solo. A very different interpretation of the MIM4E acapella. Great job. Love it.

Thank you so very much for your enthusiastic comment,Richie :) You know what,...always when i listen to MIM4E´S vocals,a song just comes out of nowhere.Somehow her vocal style just lights me right up.

Yep,the drums are punchy indeed.Nice observation there ;) For me it´s a goal to make everything equal in a mix.Of course sometimes you have to choose what is the loudest but if you work very hard, you can make all equal. I hate it when one instrument eclipses everything else.

But of course, for MIM4E´s vocals,i am ready to push others back a bit :D

Heheh, that solo was meant to be a LOT stranger,i was about to make a real bizarre solo that would be out of time even in places, lol. Sometimes i rrrreally like to push it,hahah. But in the end i made the solo a little easier. Now the solo hints at that weirdness in few places.

Thank you for the great comment,Richie. GOD bless you :)

Awesome Sasu74!
This is fantastic, the production and that guitar...I am biased and it's great my friend...and the bass, where did that come from,no matter, you did magic with this song...I love it!

Allen.

OtherIdeasProduction replied 24th Jan 2012 - 13 years ago
Heheh, yes sir,i am biased towards the guitar too so i can understand ^^ Thank you for the kind words,Allen :)

When i mixed this one,i was visualizing the drums, keyboards, bass, guitar and the vocals, all playing it live in a big room. That helped me thru the mixing for sure. But of course,i go by these ears that ive been given so thank GOD for that :)

The bass comes from this simple sample player. Those are real bass samples of some older Fender bass,Fender Presicion i think. But of course, pretty much every note is what i would´ve played with a real bass.

Nice to read comments from a real music lovers like yourself, sir :) GOD bless ya :)

NICE!!! that riff at the end of the chorus is sooo catchy i don't think i can write anything else today!!!
OtherIdeasProduction
OtherIdeasProduction replied 23rd Jan 2012 - 13 years ago
Wow! Now that is some serious compliment! Thank you Romi :)
That guitar riff that you mentioned was just a melody that forced itself into the song, lol.

Originally, when i heard that riff in my head,it was played by something like Hammond organs. But when i played it with the guitar,i knew that that riff could be a theme on its own in the song ;)

Sometimes things just WORK,you know? And with Muzic´z GREAT vocals, miracles happen.

Thank you for the kinds words.GOD bless you :)

This is a great arrangement and with a definitely old school Motown feel about it. Really good. Lovely organ sections and those drums - right on the money. Yep, music should always have a little place for some humour so thanks for a super ending!

Thank you very much for your kind words,Richie :) Finally i got to do a Motown styled song, yaayyy! All it took was 20 seconds of listening to the vocals of Ms.Vocalist MIM4E and i got the whole song right then and there.

Yeah, those drums actually capture that Motown sound and feel. Also the bass came out really better than i hoped for. That bass is actually played with midi as it is and i left some mistakes in there too. What you hear with the bass is what i recorded.

And i totally agree, put humor in there sometimes,it wont cost us anything, heheh.

Thank you for the feedback. Somehow this site has REAL musiclovers in here. Its great!

GOD bless you guys! Lets keep on rocking and keep on improving!

Sasu! I love the feel of this. Def has that ole skool Motown feel, that Diana Ross and her girls vibe. Nice job.

OtherIdeasProduction replied 22nd Jan 2012 - 13 years ago
Ahaa, here is the starlette of the song herself ^^ You know that your voice has some similarity to Diana Ross.I figured it out few days ago, hehe. But you can go lower than her i guess.

Oh by the way....did you get that new song i sent you? I will upload it here too tomorrow. What did you like that one?

ps:i found yet another gem among your pellas.I guess that makes number 3 song ;)
