Wow Estix this is a great slice of minimal d and b the intro draws you in and the body of the tune is dark and forboding... love the drums and percussion, this is moody and dark , just the way I like em!
I agree on the Massive Attack part. The drums and the bass are slightly Angelish. It wasn't intentional, but I realized it as soon as it came together. Thanks for liking! :)
Very interesting piece, had to restart it a couple times to really take it in. Some feedback, hope it's taken with grain of salt just thought I'd share teeny ways this could have different impact. I like the beginning a lot, though felt it was a bit low in volume as compared to rest of track... i.e. I needed to crank up speakers to hear the dramatic feel but then the reverb effects seemed a bit overpowering. I know, picky, felt they could be just a powerful if they blended in more, almost like an aftertaste. Simply put I didn't want to miss any of the intricacies.
You have great creativity and ability in creating/selecting sounds (intro organ, occasional synth beginning at 0:43, gothic bass at 1:00 is awesome, entering beat at 1:30). Even the main beat is nice but again seemed too loud I had to turn it down when it came in. The bass that materializes into back/forth around 1:45 is brilliant! Basically, I'm hung up on the mastering which is a shame since it's a beautifully orchestrated piece. Great tune, really, that's the jist anyway ;) Keep this up. -DF
Thank you! I went over the track also, while reading your comment, and I have to say that I completely agree on the mastering part. I didn't really notice it that much in the start, but right now, I'm really considering making the volume a bit more fluid. The feel of the track could be brought out much more with just that simple editing.
I really liked the mention on the sound selection. That's where most of my time goes into, when making music. So thank you very much for enjoying this!
I dont know what the guy below is hearing harmonically, but i don't think there should be much harmonic content in this track. it spews a never ending ambience to it, so in result, lingers and doesnt flow but yet speaks a strange language from within you. so i think it sounds good enough with it lingering besides harmonically/symphonically carrying itself throughout. this also reminds me of a bit of shadow hearts soundtrack. it's a great dark rpg that i think you should check out. anyways, i like this so much, i'm going to download it. great job man.
p.s. i re edited that battle on the grid track. see how you like it now.
Thanks for this man. I had completely left this track laying there. After your comment, I decided to listen to it again, and it feels actually real nice when I just want to drift away. I also listened to the slightly updated WIP regarding this track and I didn't like the added effects that I put in.
About Shadow Hearts, it seems like the first game wasn't that well received, but the 2nd one seems like it may be worth a purchase. It's been added to "the games I will eventually play" list, that is already cluttered with things I actually have, so it's a long-term project!
this is the type of music that you could push on a sci-fi sound track' its good, i think it cool you are using the same soft ware i just got wit my q49 alesis i stiil trying to understand how to work midi controler to make the sounds on the track any tips hit me up
Maybe some time, when I have the motivation, I will try to add some kind of sci-fi clips to the song, but that's for the far future.
Regarding the MIDI controller though, I really only use the keys on it. Configuration for all the different dials was a bit too time consuming, and for some reason they weren't saved, so I left it at that. Since I'm just using it at home, then it's not that hard to use the dials in the software and use the keys to get a better range of sound.
This is awesome brudda. has a tron feel it to it for some reason. i just watched that movie and i made a track dedicated to it, i just gotta load it up. but yes, very nice ambience, and the transitions are excellent. good work
Thanks for the feed. I'll definitely check your profile to hear your song as well, and I will probably look at Tron at some point also. You motivated me to do that!
The mood that you created, is a great success. You have the right to be happy, because this work of composition is brilliant. I appreciate, and I think you need to continue in this direction ....
You definitely helped me right now. I was a bit stuck, on what kind of music I should concentrate on. I will probably try other styles as well, but it does seem that these cinematic type tracks are potentially rewarding! And I am happy. It's always good to hear when someone likes something that I make!
Yes maby it is not finished, but i love the track so far.
For me it sounds absolutly cinematic. Nice atmospheric images this track comes up with.
nice job
Hey I would definitely agree that it fits more of a cinematic type background feel. I could definitely see hearing this in the opening scenes of a Scifi or murder mystery or something like that. The drum dropoff towards the end is a little too abrupt followed by even more abrupt shwooshing noises that don't really flow with it, so keep working on it! Maybe extend it, add more of a buildup in the beginning to add depth like Parker said and maybe a little breakdown in the middle? Just my thoughts, but this is quality ambiance! Good job!
EDIT - I like the wooshing noises too, just the placement of the ending ones was out of time I believe.
I do agree that the beginning is a bit basic. But I personally did like the swooshing sounds. Possibly there are other effects that I could use instead, but at the moment they did contribute a bit to eerieness, which was what I was going for. With the drums, I have gotten used to them now, in the beginning they did seem a bit sudden, butnot anymore! But thank you very much!
I think you just need a few more instruments or maybe fx to add depth. Its good so far....you are definitely on to something. I would say this is a cinematic type track. I can hear this is the background of a scifi movie or a slow scene in a suspense or action movie.
Thanks for the feedback. I will change the genre description of the song, since it does seem more fitting after your mention (and from the other comment on my other track).
I do plan on extending the song, a friend of mine suggested that as well, but I will check the current version as well. I believe I can find something in there to make things more interesting.
First, this track is overcharged to be classified in "Soundtrack." Then, the basic idea is not bad, but lacks harmonic part sincerely. But you continue on your idea, which I think will become increasingly good at slant to measure progress. Good luck for the future, there is still work ahead.
