o.k. that intro may be just drums & stand up bass...but I was getting a nice Motown vibe from it...I`m guessing you spent more than a little time on this one...quite intricate the way you use the instruments...and if you do this with samples and a midi keyboard I think you have some really good chops on the keys too...talent seems to have a way of showing up in the results...and you`re blessed with a big helping of it vis...another good listening one this afternoon...well done to you...Ed
right off the bat I like that drum kit...and the touch of funk that comes along with the horns...is that a tuba you are using for the low end vis ...nice helping of the jazz vibe as the mix moves along...find the horn & string instrumentation really interesting...enjoy both but its been a while since I have heard them carry the whole composition...a little reminder of the Big Band days strikes me....Good to hear something different on the Loop...especially something done this well....right on...Ed
Thanks. Been a long time since I was here, appreciate the comment. Check out all my music at visualword.bandcamp.com It's all free unless someone feels like leaving a tip.
Thanks danke for your kind comment. I did not play the contrabass or anything else, this is all computer. I don't record through the computer, just make it up, save as midi, apply to instruments, cut it up, mix it down, master it and then go crazy, LOL. i love this upbeat, happy track! mixing is superb! where you have been? i assume you have been posting, promoting on other venues. continued success! regards, Dan
a thought: I wonder if the midi trumpet would be warmer if there were vibrato "tails" on ends of notes occasionally. what do you think? peace!
you take your time with this. develops gently over the duration (at least of 5 minutes I listened to). i liked the harmonies of the guitar, the 6th and 7th chords I guess. I liked the entrance of the strings. and I liked the sax solos. regards - Dan
Thank you my friend for the kind comments. I appreciate you telling me what particulars you liked. Helps me think about future projects. Sorry it took so long to reply, I haven't been able to connect up for a while.

Hi, no not critical at all. Midi has a distinct sound and I think you bring it to its full potential in this song. The song itself is what's important to me. If you played this with a full orchestration or arranged it with just acoustic guitars the song would stand up. My first instrument when I was 16 was a Casio portable keyboard and I found ways to get the most out of that while using 2 tape decks to overdub and a guitar chorus pedal to add depth to the instruments. My first Computer was a commodore Vic20 and I used to program it to play music back with it's square wave synthesiser using basic (poke 0001). Now many years later recording is possible much cheaper and with computers so I appreciate when someone takes a style of recording and gets the most out of it like you do here. I used to work (remixing, artwork) with an artist from Switzerland (Rachel Nusbaumer) and she used Midi as well on her classical and electronica works. So keep up the good work!
Thank you for the info, I try my best to learn from any comment left on my tracks. My first computer was the TI-994A, then I felt I had really arrived when I moved up to the Commodore. I'm in the process of revamping my studio (5 foot by 5 foot walk-in closet LOL) and I am researching for a new computer. Mine is 10 years old with 1 gig of ram. Time to upgrade!
Yes they are midi as I make all my songs totally on the computer. Hopefully your comment wasn't critical. If it was, please tell me what was unpleasant about the instrumentation.
really nice mix visualword, especially with the variety of horns...and yes a very nice trumpet solo indeed...I didn`t really develop a liking for horn sections till I got wound up in doing blues tunes...and they definitely do grow on you..well done...enjoyed & nice to hear something different...Ed
wow this is a pocket universe - bacharach and klezmer and the dirty dozen = an utterly essential re-set of 'jam' paradigms.
the trumpet solo absolutely nails it!
Thank You. Your commentaries are always well thought out and always appreciated. If you would care to go on reverb nation and listen to some of my other newer songs and leave a detailed critique it would be greatly appreciated. My page there is also Visualword.
Now this is different...and in the best of ways..I`m not up on genres myself so you can call it whatever & I`d still like it...imaginative mix /instrumentation going on...thought I might have heard a touch of Latin in there too...well done visualword...enjoyed this one...Ed
Thank you for your comment. I have been in a low emotional state lately form trying to elicit a response to the "non-musician" public with my music, very few seem to even take notice. Your comments are greatly appreciated.
A relaxing piano, so rich of thoughts poured into this. "For those in need, to the helpless, to the cold, this is food for the lost and hungry". Great piano work, Keep creating your sounds of life. Peace and safe journeys.
