Hey dude! Long time since i've seen your avatar come up.
I loved the cure back in the day and this is a really wicked version.
It's a bit like the cure vs new order or something.
I was always a big fan of this track so it's nice to hear a new take on it.
Oddly enough just the other day i was thinking about trying a remix of the cure's "love song"
Spivcurls done a great job with the vocals.
Your mixing is dead on as usual but the track is definitely not what i would have expected from you (and that's meant as a compliment)
Sorry not been here forever, but back now, really great by all involved with this baby, reviewed a track Pete earlier today, he has a great voice, one of those that is easy to listen too, everything sounds great in this piece matey...I have new piece up Angels Mourn, finally managed to finish a track, have added link to description leading to forum post as to why haven't been here, hope all is well with you my friend...looking forward to see what else you have done over next few weeks...Peace respect...Mosaic...
hey estefano...welcome back my friend...im sorry for your loss and HDD crash...about your loss i know its not an easy time for you...but im sure music can help a lot...
thx for taking the time to listen to an older track...its 2 years old now...if you scroll down my list you will also find some new stuff...im not producing a track or two per week like i did in the past...but im still making music...
im not often on looperman thats why it took some time to reply...im heading over to your new track now :)
greetings...JW...
I had to stop once again, just to listen to the wonderful vocals of Spiv!
I cannot say that I like this more than the original (I am a big Cure fan) but I enjoyed it... and this is already a big compliment!
I already wrote that I like your version and Spiv's vocals are just the icing on the cake: he doesn't try to sound like a Robert Smith's clone. This is 100% Spiv-ish :-)
Thanks for this nice cover.
Ciao, Domenico
i don't know the original but I'm digging this version for sure. what a beautiful mix and reminiscent of those old-century styles! so much personality, great delivery in the vocal. very spooky, effective! "i know that in the morning i will wake up in the shivering cold!" brrr!! this track just sounds awesome. big congrats to all involved.
Hi Joyful.. This was good as gold.. Better then the original track.. Talanted musicians both Spivcurl and you..One of the best tracks on Looperman for sure..
Hi. I don't know the original though maybe I do. Not sure, not much of a Cure fan but appreciate some stuff.
This is definitely pumping as soon as that bass drum and classic bassline come in.
0:45 on like the sparseness. And then the lead synth is something you can really dance to. Some classic dance snare fills there. Are they samples?
All good preparation for the vocal's entry. And it's a good one.
Spivkurl is well suited to singing The Cure (on this evidence).
Not a lot going on apart from that bassline in the verse but that's fine. Doesn't seem like it needs a lot more. Lead synths are really simple but effective when they return.
I'll definitely check out the original song now. Slightly disappointing when it ends as I would have liked a bit more.
Interesting! Of course I love too much the original, but this faster version is intriguing.
Sounds more like one of the "japanese whispers" ... but on the other hand I always thought that lullaby was a bit out of place on disintegration.
Really curious to see how it develops...
Ciao, Domenico
Nice Track, and good tips on the comments, i don't personally use FL myself but i basically do Almost the same things you're explaining about mixing.
Very well explained btw :)
That's REALLY helpful!!
Thank you, I'm going to follow your advice right now and see what happens with the mix I'm currently struggeling with.

Listening to your track again and enjoying it a lot - you should get your track up in the featured tracks list - more people should hear this, you need some exposure!
It's a great tune.
Cheers/ SJ =)
yes...i mastered in FL...but i did not use FL tools for that...i used Ozone from Izotope...but you can also get good results from the FL tools...
important is the mix...the better the mix the better the master...
here some tips:
switch the limiter in the master channel off...thats bullshit you dont need that...when you open FL its always on...but it can ruin your mix...
then make sure you use an EQ for some sounds...for an example...if you have a piano with much bass in it cut the bass off with an EQ...but not too much so that the piano sounds lifeless...do the same with other sounds that could have too much bass in it...its mostly the bass that ruins your mix...
start mixing the kick and bassline first if your doing dance music...make sure the both are not fighting eachother...then go on with the rest...
at the end take a look at the master channel and make sure its about -6 db in maximum...use the master fader and move it down till you have the right level...
now render your track as a wav file...then open a new project...load your track...
now as we know...the limiter in the master channel is on again...set the gain to about 12 o'clock...now open maximus on the master channel...it has some presets for mastering...but you can also play around with it...
its a combination of limiter and maximus (compressor)...if you think your track needs a bit EQing then add an EQ...but dont overdo EQing...it can also ruin your track...
at the end make sure you dont have more than +-0.0 db master level...better is a little less like -0.3 db or so...it just makes sure there is no clipping...
learning by doing is the secret ;) i hope i could help a bit :)
thx for the listen...JW...
heck yeah! I'm digging this sound man. not sure what it's "original" version is or whatever, but I can work with it. really really good. hit me up man.

Have you mastered it in FL or did you use something else? Everything I do in FL sounds muffled in comparison with this, damn it.
