HA. and i luv kingdom hearts. playing birth by sleep now. and that is indeed a really beautiful song...it fits the kingdom hearts story perfect. wonderful job. this is faved
Hmm okay well im only listening through laptop speakers, but to me it sounds worse than the first one. The stringy bits sound distorted and the bass is just grating my poor little macbook speakers.
A little tip i learnt from the Widdler about mastering, turn every track down (everything) to 50%, make sure it doesnt clip, (without using any limiters or anything like that) then you should be free to turn up the tracks that you want to stand out. You use fruity loops dont you? Too be honest I havent got a clue as to how to master in that properly. I dont know if you are using limiters or maximizers or anything like that. But to me it just sounds like you've turned everything to loud. Have you listened to them both side by side? Its good to keep a perspective of what you started with.
Im on a laptop and it sounds fine to me. try it on a stereo.
I didn't master it in FL, I used audacity. I split the tracks, converted them to mono then panned them a bit, compressed, normalized, and EQed each track. Ta for the review.
Lol, I was quite surprised to see my name mentioned up there :P So how can i possibly not review.
Well. Okay, for a second attempt its quite amazing, The bit I love best about this song is the background crap thats going on; I don't know what you did or what the sounds are but they work awfully well.
Okay so moving onto the drums, they are nice, but they really dont stand out an awful lot, I dont know if its just that they are not loud enough or theres not enough to them. I think maybe some compressors on them might help if they dont already have any.
That bass line is okay, And i dont want to offend you; but it sounds quite standard. The whole thing about dubstep (for me anyway) is getting the bassline to sound completely original and strange/weird/unlike any instrument ever made. What synth are you using for it?
Otherwise you're onto a good thing here. Its a good concept, I love the background crap you shoved in there, very original :) well done!
Thanks for the review, I just wanted one from you because you know what your talking about. :D The background sounds are samples I processed, bitcrushed and resampled. If you listen you can hear the dc spike of the lightning building up. As for the drums, I'll compress them later., And for the bass I used albino, which I don't really like. I've now moved on to massive, which is amazing, theres no limit with it. Check out my new track, I used massive and its really, really bassy. I like it more than this.
I know how tempting it can be cranking up the bass. I don't listen to much dubstep. Good track. Massive can be a powerful production tool. I know how addictive it can be. Nice to see you have fun with it!
yes cuz its dj rema-d,feeling dis track.dat bass u use is similar 2 skeamz who ive been a big fan ov 4 time.is there any chance dat i cud do a dubstepy remix ov it,if so,as soon as its done il put it up on my page as a collab, holla bak yea, peace
Ok this is a nice song. The bassline is good and drums are okay. You got me listening to this because of its claim to be proper UK Grime. Hmm. I dont know. I think this is more easily classified as dubstep to be honest.
But Grime really is a tricky thing to distinguish. Typically the UK Grime (where it all started really, The americans dont know Grime at all) for me, Is all about square waves, strings and drumbeats that really dont fit into any category.
But its a good song, Im not putting it down in anyway. I like it. I've only managed to produce one grime song so far, and im trying to work on another one but i do find it hard to nail that sound.
