This is absolutely beautiful, James! Honestly, knowing that you recorded that acoustic guitar solely with your phone's mic and used BandLab's free tier blows my mind. The tone sounds incredibly warm and organic, that DADGAD tuning gives it such a magical, floating atmosphere. The way the seaside soundscape and the seagulls blend with your melodies completely achieves what you set out to do. Its a perfect slice of peace. (And don't worry, the breathing just adds to the raw, human vibe!) Brilliant execution, man!
I didn't even know what bandlab was a couple of weeks ago. But once I heard about it I wanted to check it out. You know it's funny and maybe teaching me something but this track had no thought or effort put into it. I just grabbed a recording off my phone of my playing and through it together. I'm wondering if sometimes we over think and complicate things... This was raw and I think maybe that's what is coming through.. IDK
Thanks for the kind words and feedback though I appreciate it.
first off gotta say that acoustic guitar sounds really good for having been recorded on a cel phone mic. Enjoying the listen. You play well and the tune does indeed do what you set out to accomplish. Big well done to you. Keep on. Ed
I was rather surprised it sounded pretty good. It was recorded in a room with no treatment as well. It was actually recorded not even thinking it would be put into a piece. I guess it shows just how much you can do in post processing...
Well, it turns out I'll be able to record tonight. If I'm able to finish the mix by tomorrow, I'll send you the sample so you can record your vocals and, hopefully, add some additional guitar. When you're done, just send me the stems.
James that is a beautiful piece you played, the backing cinematic music is really nice too, there was a peace and solitude about it, very calming to listen to with the seagulls and the tide washing in, i was born 10 mins from the sea, i worked on the southwest coast for 3 years, now I live in the UK second city, no coastline for miles, but its 34 C and humid, i listened to this with my eyes closed and thought about past days by the sea, and i hope one day to retire by the sea
Thanks Richard and no worries on getting that vocal to me. Keep Mama happy. That's what's really important.
I am working the track and hope to have rough demo ready by early next week.
Love the track man! Definetly gives peaceful vibes, especially on a sunday afternoon like this. The ambient background(eventhough a bit loud) is really giving it a nostalgic touch. Would love to sea this as music on an video with ocean view.
Hey Bonez - Thanks for the comment. This piece is in the tuning of DADGAD. If you haven't ever given it a try you should it really lends it's self to this style of music. Also I just listened to your latest track you just released. That sounded great to me. Keep it up and stay cool :)
A beautiful song. Were those nylon strings? Fav'd. Slight critique: When using live sound effects to make the point of the song, use them in the beginning, and then lower them in the mix so they do not distract from the amazing guitar work, then ever so slightly bring them back in at the end. Your acoustic Guitar is the star of this and should be the main focus. Great work!
Hi crucethus. No those are normal steel strings. Thanks for the feedback. I will keep that in mind if I do something like this again. I'm glad you liked it.
James what a lovely track, you really have delivered Richards vocal exceptionally well here. it sits right in the centre of your musical work, great guitar and drums too everything fits so good, the sound production is top draw, you really have captured and delivered Richards particular vibe with aplomb as Richard has told me on many occasions, he's not trying to convert anyone to his faith he sings about HIS feelings towards his personal guide in life and you have kept that feeling he portrays in his own work, I'm not religious in the slightest, but have my beliefs, but I like Richards message he's an authentic guy and I'm sure he will be pleased with this piece and he has everything to be pleased as it paints the picture of him personally and you couldn.t of got much closer, very well done my friend
Dime, thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful feedback. It really means a lot.
This Looperman community has been great so far, and I'm really enjoying being a part of it. If I remember correctly, the loop creator is from France, Richard is from Nigeria, and I'm in the United States. It's amazing that the three of us were able to create this track together from different parts of the world.
This project was a lot of fun for me, and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to be a part of it. I hope to collaborate on more projects like this with others in the future. Thanks again for taking the time to listen and leave such an encouraging comment.
Absolutely flawless you captured the depth and timbre of Richard's voice so well and that loop is a terrific fit - sorry I have only just seen your tracks!
Very cool! I might go ahead and download this and give it a try sometime. It's got a solid sense of movement and I think some additions could really make this bang.
What key were you working in? I'm terrible at telling that by ear.

I can relate; a quarter of my FL21 is filled with beats I can't do anything with.
I wonder if a new version of this track will be online soon.
