I just checked it and noticed you sent it on July 11th. I truly apologize for missing it! I had to create a Gmail account because of my Android phone, since I need it to log into the Play Store and other services. I dont really get any notifications on it, so other than that, I honestly dont even think of it as an email account. Sorry about that!

Maybe you sent it to my Gmail. I hardly ever check that one, though. My main email is the Yahoo.com one. Sorry about that!

I cant play any real instruments, haha, so I hide behind my vocals. You can imagine how much I envy people who can actually play instruments!
This is really great, James! I really enjoyed it.

I had sent you an email when I first started working on this one because I thought it sounded like something you might like working with. I think I might have sent it to an email that you don't actively check on accident.

Dude it's been crazy. I am getting close to coming up on my first year back into recording. It was such a steep learning curve initially and I'm still finding plenty of rabbit holes to travel down. I really like LM, I view it as my music journal which should be fun to look back on over the years.

Nothing beats real hardware and tactile control! Recording this live gives the drum grooves and synth layers such a raw, organic warmth. That sax and flute arrangement over creates an incredible laid-back atmosphere. Outstanding work, bro!

Hi James! The key of your track brings such pleasure to my ears. I agree F# is perfect for chill out genre (in my opinion). This choice of instruments, FXs and light drums creates a haven of peace in my soul. Very beautiful track and the whole thing is great!

Hey Asociale - good to hear from you my friend. I can't ever claim to go into something with a plan... I just started with the guitar chord progression and just kept experimenting with idea's. Honestly more bad ideas that good usually. But I like the way the way this one ended up. Thanks for listening!

Love the airy mix. Guitar is probably one of my favorites for hiphop beats also, so versatile. The 2000s had so many legendary samples that shape music today. Great job on this track JAI26.

So I looked up the acapella you referenced. That makes me even more impressed with your track. I have never tried working with an acapella.

Thanks for giving my track a listen . I appreciate it!

You can look up "Last Resort" by Papa Roach if you are interested in the original song. I've always liked playing the riff from that song. If nothing else it just gets your finger moving.

Love the play on words with the title! Instant nostalgia blast right here. That classic early 2000s riff energy comes through loud and clear, and your take on it sounds fantastic. Great tone on the guitars and awesome driving rhythm throughout. Pure rock nostalgia done right!

Trust me, I already knew that im in the minority with this one lol. This song is the song equivalent of 50 cent - despite numerous attempts, it just won't die lol. Nah im just being silly bro. Its really just that I much prefer 'Getting away' cuz it just spoke to me more. Youre right, one of the best things about music is that something one person loathes might be beloved by another. While they both enjoy the same music otherwise lol. Or the opposite. Yet still collaborate to make superb music. Its the nature of music.

Great work, rock is always a genre that describes emotions so well. You did an excellent approach to this song and the result is beautiful and expressive.
I liked your track.

Well it wasn't a subtle hint or anything lol. I personally really liked a few of their other songs but never the one your paying homage to - Last Resort. That had alot to do with my own guitar playing and my own band because it was the progression in particular I disliked. I cant deny the songs popularity or longevity, tho. Hearing how something influenced someone is always interesting to me. I like your approach

It's beautiful as it is, JAI26, melancholic and deeply emotional. The instruments are kept subtly present yet vibrant when needed, and the expressive sound you have used is, I think, a big part of what makes this track so successful.

The emotion really came through, and I honestly didn't miss the drums. But now that you've mentioned them, I'm curious to hear how that version would've sounded. Either way, this is a really cool piece, JR!

JAI26 replied 4th Aug 2026 - 3 weeks ago
Hey Ricahrd - Thanks for giving it a listen. Trust me it was better without at least my drums. I'm sure one of the drum masters on this site could do something with nice and I'm always open to people messing around with my tracks. That's why I am going to start posting BPM and key going forward. I've seen Flat2Forge do that and I'm going to follow his example.

Cutting out the drums was definitely the right call, it lets the emotion in those guitars and strings breathe so much more! That "Shoe Gaze" preset has a really lush, ambient atmosphere, and the composition feels deeply cinematic. Sometimes keeping it simple creates the strongest response. Beautiful piece, James!

I think so too. I almost pulled the synth completely out but decided I needed it to get me through the 1:40 area. But I did try to keep the level as low as possible. I really appreciate you giving my stuff a solid listen!
