it's quite muddy but practice makes perfect! there's too many snare in the drop I think, it could sound right with more snare but the main snair hit should stand out aswell as the kick, try compressing your kicks and sidechaining cymbals, bass, pads etc, personally I sidechain anything that isn't the snare lol, keep at it though this is decent for a first attempt, also listen to your favorite dubstep artists and focus on the arrangements of the track, when to break away/ build / drop / switch up & then drop again. etc. It's good for the listener to have structure & hints that something is happening or about to happen. keep going bro! :)
This is... different. Interesting, feels a bit empty tho, and just by looking at the waveform I can tell your abusing a limiter, which isnt a big deal for a first attempt. Id suggest to keep working with this track, try to fill it out a bit more, and mixdown more before the limiter.
Even though it may not exactly be dupstep, I really like this track.
I'd really appreciate if you could give me feedback on my track? I'm brand new to recording and am looking for any help or constructive criticism I can get.
Not sure this is dubstep, but trying to sound one. The Massive sounds well (if it is), but needs more life (some echo or reverb or something) and too much loudness (my ears hurts), anyway the ideas are nice and since this is your first track this is supercool! Keep up like this! Cheers! :)
I agree with Spudsy, this drums don't sound like this is dubstep... I downloaded Vengeance Dubstep vol. 2 and it's really great. Anyway, this is not bad for first attempt!
I think the main issue is the sounds you have chosen to use.
You need a stronger kick and snare. dubstep drums tend to really pop. Plus the synth sounds could use a bit of a beef up.
I would say to get yourself onto Loopmasters.com and pick up any of the HighRankin Dubstep Drum packs or failing that find some tracks by an artist called 'Rednek' then chop the drums and hits out of his tracks and you should be well on your way.
The chorus does not sound like a dubstep track but the drop definitely tells you that it is. I think if your dropped the tempo it would def make it more dubstepish. The drops are nice though. What software are you using?
