I am going to make a drum and bass version. Very clean sounding.
You had asked how I get that sound and I know what you mean and kind of don't but. Really I guess it comes down to what do you sound like and I don't mean your music and what kind of music you want to make. You have to relate to other peoples sound but make it your own in a sense. As for the sound I started using reason 4 and then tried rewire with ableton and found ableton is a great tool to have it beefs up the sound and makes it more crisp try it out and let me know how it worked for you. thanks again.

Wow, that'll be kinda cool, I'm sure. Let me know when you complete it? I know what you mean about the mixing, kinda make it "yours", right? I'm unclear how the whole Rewire stuff goes. I have Reason 4, Sonar 7 (although I don't work it as well as Reason, FL Studio 5, and Cubase, which I cannot figure out AT ALL!) What's the upside to Rewire stuff? How do you utilize it? Thanks for the review as reviews are getting scarce here on LM! PEACE.

Yes, I agree. I too can picture some rap on this track. Maybe a female or something. With maybe some female backround singers on the hook.

Hmmm. An interesting blend here. If not for the drums, id say it were more like deep house. I have a tip for ya tho. If you duplicate the drum tracks, then alternate tracks when you make those cuts like the snare roll, they will blend very well, almost unnoticeably. Keep up the creativity, you are on the right track!

Pretty good but i recognize the epic poly patch in this. I have a new track uploaded it is called "Technological Singularity."
phasturbo

...and? Is there something wrong with using that patch? Not sure what that means.......

Hi there phasturbo,

Getting around to listen to one of your songs here as promised. Starting out, it doesn't sound like Hip Hop...at least not the type I have heard before. Usually they start out with a flurry of words that never end. lol

So it was refreshing to hear your tune. I really liked it and it had a nice clear solid sound to it. Maybe more variety could be put into it overall so as to change themes a little...like telling a story.

Anyways, I liked it a lot and I will have to listen to your other projects.

Yeah, I can feel this track all up and through. Love the mellow vibe behind a smooth blend of activity. Not too much of anything, just the right amount. Love the wind instruments. I'm not an instrumentologist, so I don't know a lot about what is what. But, I do know what sounds good and how to put it together. You did ya thing, bruh! Especially that piano. I love Hip Hop with that nice piano thing happening.

Whaddup, bruh! I'm feelin' the Hip Hop vibe. It does delve into somewhat of an RnB groove, but lots of Hip Hop does, especially the slower stuff. Still, you have enough things going on to keep it in the Hip Hop realm.

I'm new to Looperman, so this is the first joint I've heard by you. We all have room to improve, but I'm digging where you've gone with this so far.

Peace & Much Luv!

yeah i like this one. im working on something with this same loop. i just don't know what to do with it. Sounds like you imported some sounds from another program on here or u got some extra sounds for reason. I like it tho. im looking for some extra sound so if you can and don't mind hook me up. I also am looking to collab with someone on reason. If you interested...get at me.

Pretty good but you could use better synth, strings sounds more drum variation would also be great. Hey, I uploaded a new dnb track called "Teknikal Overload." Check it out!
phasturbo
phasturbo replied Unknown
Doesn't need strings or 'better' synth. That's the way it's SUPPOSED TO SOUND. The drums are steady, yet variation is plentiful. PEACE.

PPS-Actually STRINGS may sound cool........

I listened all the way thru!

I like that you are starting to integrate your vocals!

I don't want to upset you, but I think if you used more swagger in your vocals, more aggresive, and a little down in pitch, (Not Volume)..

Then again it totally sounded like you were coming from the early ninety's... Cool man!

PPS-Late 80's early 90's stuff was the shit! THANKS!

on You Really Better Watch Your Back by phasturbo
But I like that.
Its not always a great idea to hit that 0 Db level.. the cymbals are fine bro..
ITS about the levels of your mixes.
What is you DAW err your program..

This is fucking cool dude. I like it A lot. Keep that in mind.

Back to the issue.
You are clipping what is digitally capable of being reproducing.

so it gets compressed, sound is a wave that vibrates air. You have a lot of SOUND. why is this happening? I dunno.. did you manually fix the levels so it would accent just the oboe? that's where I think its coming from...

As sound gets louder, it can't come out of the speakers like you may hear it from your speakers (seriously). Sometimes, the cymbals actually will cancel out the bass!! For example, if you take two sounds, and INVERT the wave, and then play them at the same time in stereo sound... it creates SILENCE!! Why? I DON'T KNOW. it's amazing, and should be taken into account because it is fucking up your track a lil bit.

Sometimes.. and I don't know what you are using... u sometimes need to sacrifice hard drive space and save multiple takes of one song. Listen to them a lot. (We all do this lol) but listen to them on winamp, then itunes. then zune, then burn it to cd, listen to it with headphones! The car test is the final one.. if it sounds good in your car, then fuck the nay-sayers.

I actually do that on this site, and just upload the finished idea later... (BUT I Am NOT A MASTER MIXER. I just have two ears)

Don't be afraid to mess with the mixes of each individual track.

The oboe dude, the oboe.. something is going on there.

Love it tho!
You are good.

Wow! Thanks for the great info! I've actually only mixed by ear up until now. I've started paying attention to the clipping meter(?). I use Reason 4.0 and a Yamaha 'board. Thanks again, great info!

on Dj Lucky Can Make You Move-MIXED BETTER?? by phasturbo
I would bring that lead synth up a good bit in the mix. Think it needs to stand out a lot more..and it does need some more stuff thrown in there too I feel. I dont know what your plan for this track is though, so I'll just say keep adding stuff. The mix however is really great. Nice and crisp!!!
phasturbo
phasturbo replied Unknown
I made this with the hopes of finding someone near me to put a rap over it, so I kept the synth low on purpose, kind of as background to some lyrics. Thanks for the listen!

I love the bassy lead you have going on, the onyl thing I think this track needs is an interlude. Maybe some strings would do the trick or some sort of synth generator. Try just taking out the bass lead and leaving the drums, then ramping it up with some synth when you get bored one day! Killer riff though! kOoLaID

The drums are pretty good but you need to work on the quality. It seems low. This has a lot of potential. Rember all of the DnB songs of mine you liked? The check out my new track "Basstronika" it is my best yet.

Do you mean the mix? I'm not at all sure how to mix. I just "play it by ear". How do you know how to get such a nice sounding mix? Is there a 'secret'? TELL ME!!! LOL!

on Standing in Front of the Judge by phasturbo
Real nice beat. The synth has kind of disconcerting sound. To make you feel kind of uncomfterable. Wait, Like you'd feel standing in front of the judge. I might have classified it as Weird.
