When I have the kicks and 808's should I side chain the 808 to the kick to make the kick harder or just change the kick completely? Your opinion matters to me because Ive only been producing for a year now

do not side chain or compress or any of that, you need your drums to breathe

not all kicks and 808s go well together so just make sure to give it time and experiment.
