I am from Philadelphia but now reside just outside of Atlantic City, NJ. I have been a musician all my long life but have only recently started writing songs. I am an excellent driver.
Guitar and some keyboards. I am especially good on drums...as long as they are loops taken from the likes of the gracious folks who post them here.
I use Garageband. My songs are recorded in a rush mainly as a way of presenting to my band a rough sketch of what I have in mind.
My Mac. My Strat, a no name bass and a Casio keyboard. I have an SM-57 and SM-58, but believe it or not, prefer the built in mic on my mac. Sacrilege! I am NOT a singer. I prefer female vocalists. My recordings are only to give my singer a clue to the melody; hopefully to be improved upon.
Dismemberment Plan, Built To Spill, Guided By Voices, Tegan And Sara, Regina Spektor, Dinosaur Jr. They Might Be Giants, The Weakerthans, Bob Mould, The Shins, The Decemberists, and-ahem-myself.
All time?...The Breeders-Pod. The Darling Buds-Pop Said. Liz Phair-Exile In Guyville. Elvis Costello-This Years Model. They Might Be Giants-Lincoln. The Weakerthans-Left and Leaving. Abbey Road. The Pixies-Dolittle.
Like most people my age, it all began with the Beatles. I have been a musical shark ever since. I like cutting edge as opposed to classic rock. My main influences chops-wise I suppose are Jimmy Page and Brian May although I get board with guitar solos and much prefer chord bashing and rhythm guitar.
Hmmm. Hard to say...Pop rock I guess would loosely define it. My dream would be to write a totally stripped down pop song a la the Darling Buds early stuff.
I tend bar at an Atlantic City casino. And yes, it is all very glamorous. Just like a James Bond movie. Men in tuxedos, women in sparking cocktail gowns.
