I started usinf Fruity Loops about 10 years ago playing around mainly just sequencing drum hits.
Three years ago I started studying music production and was taught mainly on cubase sx 3.
Since then I have moved onto Logic (but still use cubase (now 4) for a few very handy audio editing techniques.
My kit:
Logic Pro 8
Sonalksis Plugins (Multilimit, Compressor, Gate, EQ)
Isotope Ozone 3 (Great for your Master output)
Native Instruments: Battery, Massive, FM8 & Absynth.
