Coming straight out of Humboldt, Tennessee better known as the Tiny City (86 miles east of Memphis) .
In October 2000 while free –styling together at T.P.C. (local neighborhood) the rap group ANABOYS was started. The rap group had 9 members, ages ranging from 16 to 22.
It wasn’t long before the ANABOYS began recording with Devious Thoughts Productions (D.T. P.). D. T. P is a small local recording studio. Working closely with D. T. P. ANABOYS recorded their first album. The first single off the album was “Shake’em Off†(also the title of the album), which sold approximately three hundred copies with in the first two weeks. Other songs that received a lot of local club play were “Twisted Mindsâ€Â, “Ana†and “Don’t Runâ€Â.
The year 2001 was a year of challenges for the ANABOYS. The 9 member rap group started having growing pains which lead to several members leaving the group. Now ANABOYS was a 6 member rap group.
Then creative differences caused they group to leave D. T. P. in April 2001 and start the label Mac Factory Production. Because the ANABOYS was no longer with D. T. P. they did not have a recording studio to start production on their second album. But that did not stop the ANABOYS. Instead it made the rap group more determine to create their own recording studio. Which they did and in January 2002 they began working on their second album.
The one year of challenges paid-off. In January 2002, the started recording their second album entitled “ANADOSE†in their own recording studio. This album was true ANABOYS style. The first single of the album was “Don’t think we new to this†which featured Endonesza’ from Jackson, TN. This was also the first time that ANABOYS were heard on the radio airwaves. Because of the numerous play requests for the single, the rap group sold 1900 copies in one month on the streets.
The rap group started traveling to various states (IL, FL, NY, GA, TX and KY), selling and giving away copies of their albums. During their travels the talented rap group encountered and talks with various artists and producers.
In 2003 the group signed with Rap Vibe Records, which allowed them to sign with Infinity Music Group out of Chicago, IL in 2004.
In 2004, with Infinity Music Group, ANABOYS dropped their third album entitled “Perfect Timinâ€Â. The songs on this album were carefully selected from 60 assortments of songs. This was ANABOYS first and only nationwide publication of the album.
In the beginning of 2005, the ANABOYS were facing more growing pains. The once 6 member rap group now had only 4 members. They also ran into another creative difference with Infinity Music Group. With all of the adversities the grouped faced they became more determine to prove that they had the talent and the drive to be known.
Even though it was said that “Perfect Timin†(3rd album) was the best that the ANABOYS could do. They proved that was completely not true. In May of 2005 they hit the streets even harder with their 4th album entitled The New Beginning. The title of the 4th album was truly fitting from all the changes and challenges they had come though. Although, they had to go through some hard times, they also were able to learn from the experiences and talk about it through the songs.
In 2006, ANABOYS took their game to the next level. Their 5th album title No Excuses was off the map. They were not making any excuses either. The year 2006, ANABOYS got their hustle on. They performed at different local clubs and a couple of clubs in the St. Louis, MO (STL). Creating the ANAVILLE website, help to grow their fan base tremendously and give them another avenue to get their music heard.
They are getting better as they release album after album. They are working on their new album coming in May 2007 entitled “GOT ANAâ€Â.
You don’t want to miss it. If you are already a fan the new album is just more of what you already love. If you are just now hearing about the ANABOYS, you don’t want to sleep on them. This album shows the growth of the group and their skills. This album has so many club bangers, don’t be surprise if you here it soon in the clubs. Ladies, there is even a song for you that you don’t want to miss.
