I used to gig in empty bars, but now I just record at home. While I miss playing live, I've found a great deal of creative satisfaction in my current musical situation: Instead of trying to set the world on fire by creating the next Sgt. Pepper, I now just write songs for my wife. She likes them, and while I would've certainly welcomed the adulation of the masses, and playing the Super Bowl halftime show, at this point in my life, I figure if my beautiful lady appreciates the songs I write for her, that's good enough for me! :)
Mostly keyboards; a little noodling on the guitar.
Sonar Platinum
Focusrite Triplett Solo audio interface; Rode NT1 microphone; Roland JP 8000 keyboard; M-Audio Code 61 MIDI controller.
Just the old standards on my iPod when I work out!
Purple Rain, Revolver, What's Going On, Songs in the Key of Life
Prince, Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Beck, Johnny Cash, Earth Wind & Fire
All over the place. I have some that sound country; some soul; rock, etc.
I'm a reporter on the crime beat for a daily newspaper in Detroit. As you can imagine, there's a lot to write about! :)
