kick ass percussion sounds and loops! the synths are freakin cool as well. i love the background textures. the guitar was unexpected, but it fit very well. the 16th note kick drum was the perfect touch, but it could be pumped up a bit, imo. great song, man!

i love the sounds the open this song up, very freakin cool. great hi hat, too. i think the drums could be cranked up a bit, they seem to lost in the mix. this is another track that could benefit from stereo field abuse. very cool guitar parts. there's some great sound design in this song. a pretty cool song, i'd like to hear it after it's been given some time on the production end.

very interesting intro. i like how the layers sort of creep in. that's a really cool guitar tone you used. you did a good job keeping your guitars from overpowering the mix. the percussion was a bit low for my taste, but i liked the sounds. i think your guitars would have more impact if they were in stereo. the riffs were awesome. the piano interlude was a great touch and the dissonant notes were a cool touch. the song was a bit too long for me, but i think with some better production it could still be a killer track.

if this is the first track you've made, is that to say that there are more just waiting to be uploaded? for your first time at bat, this is pretty cool. oddly enough, i just reviewed another song that used that synth guitar loop, heh. your loops are mixed together very well, not only concerning volume, instrument and melody, but pitch as well. this is well constructed for just using loops. the ending is a bit abrupt, but other than that, this is a very decent track. can we expect to hear more from you?

there's some good ideas here, but you really need to work with some software that'll allow you to sync your loops. i recommend using FL. it's a great entry level package that'll grow with you. i still use it, heh. it's got a great slicer in it, so out of sync loops will be a thing of the past. and you don't even have to worry about what BPM they are, the slicer automatically cuts up a loop and sequences it in the master BPM. but yeah, get yourself a good DAW to work with, learn the basics of it and you'll see improvements in your work immediately. feel free to PM with any questions you might have about anything tech related, i've been doing this for a long time and might be able to help you.

this song has some really cool sounds going on in it. you did a great job selecting the sounds here. like toddj said, this could fit in glitch really well. maybe ambient if you added the right drums and bass. i can here this song going in several different directions, actually, depending on what elements you added and how you mixed them. or you could leave it as it and it would still stand alone quite well. good job, man.

on Dont Stop featuring DollarMenunaire by JamesDavies
let's start with the positives first. you've got a good feel for the rhythm and how to make that work. you added the backing vocals in very good places and the work well with the main track.

now most of your negatives are on a technical side and those improve with time, so let's get those out of the way. the vocals are way to high in the mix, so much so they over power the music track. again, the problems with volume levels and learning how to EQ out dead frequencies will come with time and practice. there's also a lot of hiss in some of tracks and it's hard to tell if they're coming from the effect you used or someplace else. those can be dealt with by editing your effect parameters and EQ.

your non-technical issues are solely pitch. your ability to maintain the proper pitch not only in relation to the music, but to yourself needs a considerable amount of work. this is something that can only be overcome with lots of practice and hard work. if getting singing lessons is beyond your means, perhaps you can find another vocalist to help coach you to improve your technique. once again, you're in a great place to get help:) don't get too down on yourself, man. we all had to start somewhere and, like i said, your issues aren't anything that can't be overcome with practice and patience. ask for help where you feel like you need it, the people here have great advice and can help you grow leaps and bounds.

on Jam that Sound Right Now ( instrumental ) by JamesDavies
what an odd melody you used for the square wave starting this song out. very different. actually, this song seems to be full of things that sound and feel...off... but the kick and synth guitar tie it all together with a central theme. i won't comment on the off beat loops, apparently others have brought that your attention and you're addressing the issue. but i would recommend using a slicer for your loops if you have one. those are a quick and easy way to get your loops in time with everything else, as well as giving you many more options with your loops. there's a good song in there, man, you just need to refine your technique a bit. no worries, though, you've come to the right place to learn just how to do that=) keep working on it, man, you'll get there=)

on Have You Ever by CosmicMerkaba
man, you've got some really nice melodies layered in there! i really like how they could all stand alone, but are mixed together in a fashion that's amazing and they don't trip over each other. the drums, beats and percussion are nice, clear and punchy. i thought the delayed samples were a cool addition, but imo, they're a bit too high in the mix. overall, it's an amazing song. very good work and i look forward to hearing more from you in the future!

on Hirogenium Feat Effluence - Turn by Hirogenium
that's a killer saw wave you're using, man, i'm envious=) this song has a really smooth, catchy progression. the layering, programming and production are very good. you've got some great melodies hidden in the mix. the vocal processing is great, too, i love the shifting effects. while i really enjoy the beat, i think the song would've benefited from using harder sounds, imho. i think the lyrics are pretty freaking cool too, the male/female combination adds some surreal layers. great track, i'm seriously impressed.

hey m8, thanks a lot for that detailed review.
the killer saw you mentioned above, is generated by absynth 3 vst. yes, it's very cool :).
Yes, indeed, I thought about a harder, more voluminous snare drum, especially at the e-guitar part. Thank you for the hint.

on Vampire Robot Pimp and the Spooky Ghost by Karnivll
dude, this song's gotta win coolest title of year hands down! i like how you've got that slicky bass line over the rolling drums, very cool. very cool programming. i can definitely hear the puppy and ministry influences, but not in a bad way, if you follow.

hey, man, i ran across your page looking for other rivetheads so i thought i'd check out some of your tunes. this song freakin jams! the pads remind of 'mind the perpetual..'. slamming drums, pumping synth line, this track rocks. i like the glitch elements sliced in there, nice change of pace.

on Laughters A Killer by Sludgecity
i had to review this song just because you said the 3 words that always hook me: screaming, mechanical and dirty, lol. the picture this paints in my head is two-fold, since the song kind of evolves in a strange way. but it's either a transformer's way of verbal smack down or it's just transformer pron music, lol. take your pick, it's still a demented, outrageous and entertaining song!

on Upping The Ante by Sludgecity
i like the thin synths starting this one out, very interesting. i was curious to see how you integrated a hip hop beat into your style. i wasn't too far off with my imagination, haha: heavy manipulation, haha. i love how the lead holds it together while the beats clash, skip and generally fall apart. you got some really cool samples in the mix here. you've got a layered style that isn't very obvious that i really enjoy about your music. cool track, man.

on Chatter Box by Sludgecity
honestly, i wasn't too thrilled with how this one got going with the pianos, but as the track built up, it all fit together in a wrong way (to me anyways) that was just right, if you follow me, heh. you did some great loop manipulations here. again with the contradicting elements that you somehow shoehorn into sounding good together, haha. you got a tight saw wave, what a great sound, it really kind of pulls the whole mish mash together for me. very offbeat from what i've heard from you so far, but in a delightful way.

on Next Hype Mashup by Sludgecity
so seriously cool samples and synths you're using here. this track has a killer build up. i LOVE the hard mix of this song. the vocal production is just amazing, man, great use of FX and layering. the mix is super smooth, the synth bass and vocals fit so well together it's sick! you did this in Reason?? man, maybe i've underestimated that app... are the vocals pellas that you pulled from here or did you have Hype drop them for you? either way, they're incredible. great tune!

on Dont Watch That by Sludgecity
man, what a cool little tune this is! to be honest with you, i'm not very schooled in either glitch nor dubstep, so i can't really critique you based on genre. what i can say though, is that you've got some serious programming skills! the sounds, melody and layering remind me of old school Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk. i love how the song progresses into patterns that clash just right, it was totally unexpected. speaking of unexpected, the vocal samples/loops you used were completely out of left field for me. very cool elements interacting that i wouldn't expect to work well, but it jams nonetheless!
hardwareexorcist
that's a great guitar riff, killer tone and note selection. the samples and drums clash with it perfectly. the synth guitars are a clever touch, but they'd sound better with some live guitar layered with them, imo. the pulsing synth line is just perfect, exactly what i was thinking should go there, haha! i love the guitar riff layering around 4:30, a great effect. the staccato percussion is a great touch. a bit lengthy, but it's got enough variation and drive to compensate for that. freakin great song.

on Rewind Fast Forward Stop And Play by CrashTheSystem
man, this has got some great crunchiness to it, i love it. the snare is a touch too high, imo, but the pulsing of the drums and bass is great. very colorful synth panning too. it's cool how you move from minimal to dense layering so smoothly, it builds really nice. for techno, this track slams! definitely a fav here.

on Mind Grenade by CrashTheSystem
love the samples that open the song up. it's got a great mix, slick production. the synth work is very smooth and engaging. very cool for your first time at bat, i'd say=) the sonic depth of the track is really cool, i really like all the ear candy! it's got a great early 90's 'hacker' feel to it, which you can't really go wrong with, imo. the flow is sweet and the variations move the song along beautifully.
hardwareexorcist
what a cool blend of techno drums and metal elements. yeah, i'd definitely drop the volume levels on your samples across the board, they're overpowering. it gets a bit repetitive about halfway through, but the song doesn't last long enough for that to become too much of a problem. i'd go for some more layering with the guitars, but that's just me. quite a fun song.

oh man, i'm in love with the synth that kicks this song off. the pads are amazing as well. the vocals are a different from what i've come to expect from your work, but that's a good thing. a very subtle, yet powerful song. just f-ing great.

the bassline and drumwork are killer on this track. especially all the triplets and rolls on the snares. i love the heavily processed vocals and samples, they add a great contrast to the synths. great track, probably my fav of yours so far.

Yeah, I like making those triplets and rolls on the snare drum, Bigod20 inspired me many years ago with their track 'The Bog (Techno Duck Mix)'...

very slick track. generally speaking, i don't really go for music with alot of techno elements, but this track, imo, exemplifies what potential techno could have. or maybe it's just the dark vibe and samples that are getting me, haha. either way, it's great work, keeping you guessing what direction it's going to turn next. very cool tune.
