Thank u for the kind words kitty-cat but I surely dont think I am better than anyone up in here; Im just different is all, I approach digital recording with an old school head, I dont really care about new technologies, go ahead THROW out that old tower, Im the dude lurking in yer DUSTBINS....I will scavenge ANY old school CRAP that you might find at a garage sale for 5 pounds (CDN) and I will NEVER record ANY music on ANY OTHER OPERATING SYSTEM other than Windows 98...anything else is TAPES man, word up
Wow it's been a while but you are definitely one of the only users I remember on here. Your guitar work is super tight, the recording is even nice and clear. There's a definite size and layering to this track that reminds me of something Buckethead or Steve Vai might do. This track could be more like a song though, I wish it had some more progression with different basslines, maybe even a key change or two.
ah, that's a good review ... ;-)
well, you're right, some different progression would be good here and there, but to be honest ... I'm afraid I'm sometimes too lazy for that ... and one of my deepest fears in making music is the fear of overproducing ... I hear many tracks around which contains of materials for 2 or 3 really good songs, but in the end they sound like a preview of an album, if you know what I mean ...
but again: you're right!!! I should be a little more couraged in trying different progressions ... ;-)
thx a lot for your opinion!!!
That's catchy, the absolutely destroyed guitar tone works really well, but it's just one idea. You should keep working on this, build an actual riff on top of that and some verse/chorus structure.
This track just flows and flows. That piano sample settles in perfectly and the track just spaces out like something from Aesop Rock or Cannibal Ox. That stoned beat under the light textures is gold.
Here is something I slap together on you tube about it. Thanks for the feed back I did it old school to give that period when hip hop was teaching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RloLUvLFUW8that.
I like how you get creative with the guitar sounds, pitch shifting and looping them. It almost sounds like something Throbbing Gristle might have done.
It's a sweet track if you're going for that 80s vibe. The percussion sounds like it's missing something in the midrange in order to really hit home. That snare sample sounds kinda flimsy, something more snappy might do the trick.
That guitar solo is diiiiirty. I think it would have cool though if you kept soloing but in the upper frets and just had the song fade out on you breaking it down along with the sax.
yeh, i agree, I was never very happy with the drums here. They were supposed to be very light, shuffly , jazzy type drums but could do with some more work
