I absolutely am a huge fan of your guitar work, it is always so nuanced and balanced and has this great feel to it, a bit of an Ike Turner vibe to it. Great bass line that really anchors this one. The piano is the cherry on the top of this one. As far as the mix goes, DJ-SLT-UK knows more than I do about things, but I actually like the vox (if I am not mistaken it may be Patricia Edwards). Anyway, there are a few folks on here I wish had room for an unlimited number of tracks - you are one of those people. Added to favorites, and now, I'm going to hit play again and finish my coffee with a smile. I hope all is well.
It is easy to forget you have been at this for less than a decade, but damn, you really do have a knack for composition and sound engineering. I do look forward to another one from you. Let me know when you get something done. Outstanding effort (the mix is sterling on this). I hope all is well Steve.
Beautiful instrumentation, really exquisite work on the guitars and synth - tasty little lead line at the 3:30 mark. It is easy to see you have been doing this for a while. Your vocal work is pretty awesome as well. Since I'm an old guy who started rock and roll in the 60's I can really appreciate the 70's vibe on this one. Outstanding effort from start to finish. Really, really well done. I hope all is well.
Hello Bear, I very much appreciate your review. At the time I did this, I was really in some trance and everything came together in a way I don't understand. Like it wanted to exist and I could just watch it ... like ... somehow. It's miraculous what inspiration does sometimes.
Thank you so much,
take care,
Michael
So, we now live in the land of Disney and Universal Studios and I guarantee you this song would work for either one of those parks, haha. Your vocal skills translate quite nicely into the musician aspect of things. This is really well done. Outstanding from start to end. You are the best!!! I hope all is well. Added to favorites by the way :)
You certainly are one massively talented musician. I absolutely love everything about this one. Great use of the harmonics in the beginning, loved the panning. Beautiful combination of pads, violins, and guitars. This one could easily be used in any number of movies. It could also be a soundtrack for our lives. You do such beautiful, tasteful work. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed this one. I hope all is well.
Shredding like a mad man.....holy smoke. Brother, you have some serious guitar chops. I would have loved to hear about another 4 hours of this one. Seriously, great guitar work. You are right up there with the great guitarists on this site. Props to you. Really, really impressive work. I hope all is well.
Beautiful work Robbie. Well thought out and perfectly executed. While I always enjoy your dance and electronica, I think your approach to cinematic genres is pretty special. Best five minutes I've spent in a while. This was a great way to get me ready to face the day. Well done!!! I hope all is well.
Bear, Good to hear from you my friend i have been getting back into my music after last year's tribulations and getting stronger after the bypass operation. The weather here is now beautiful. I am working on an album of chill out music and using loopcloud5 which is a great tool. This track was more work than i remembered having listened to it again. Best regards Robbie.
So you have a terrific beginning to a really, really good song. Intro, and first verse are done, now you need to work on a chorus (hook) section, a bridge, and then your outro - then glue it all together and try to keep it under 4 minutes, haha. I would also advise you to look on Looperman for one of the many vocalists on here and if you find one you really like, ask them to lay some vocals over it. I can envision a Sam Smith type voice, or a female with the chops to carry this. With the piano being the anchor on it, you could also find someone similar to a lead singer like Train's Patrick Monahan, or Imagine Dragons Dan Reynolds. One thing is for sure, keep working on it as it has serious potential. Best of luck with it. I hope all is well.
Outstanding effort by both of you. Nice tight acoustic work, well played and shows you know your way around a fret board. Yati has a terrific voice. She reminds me a little bit of a Alanis Morissette - definitely different but a little similarities in spots. My only complaint is that you didn't explore this one further. Another 2 minutes would have been fantastic, but I'm greedy that way. Did you upload the full band track? I am assuming it is longer, but again, other than not getting enough candy I have nothing to complain about. Wonderful work by both of you and I love that "unplugged" feel on this one. Well done. I hope all is well.
This one is like a cool glass of iced tea on a hot summer's day....good for whatever ails you. Nice atmosphere and easy to listen to (that is a rare treat in today's music). I really enjoyed this one. Well done. I hope all is well.
Really nice work here. Great introduction, then it moves into a wonderful section with the Spanish style guitar. This one is nuanced quite nicely, with a buttery smooth mix on it. It would be nice if a vocalist could take it to that next level. Until then, it stands nicely on its own. Well done. I hope all is well.
The first thing that grabs my attention is the musicianship in this one. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can ever replace real people playing real instruments. This is stellar work, displaying the real talents of all involved. A beautiful work of art that helps cut through all of the noise of our busy lives. A tip of the hat to all involved. Really, really well done. Thank you for sharing, and for allowing a download. I will listen to this often, when I need something to calm my nerves, or to just put a smile on my face. I hope all is well.
Hello Bear and a big thank you for your very gentle comment... I really appreciate. You're right, it's really nice to have some friends and musicians who are involved in my "little" compositions! A chance too to have these people who make excellent loops here on Looperman. Thanks again... and sorry for my english, I speak french.
Outstanding jazz piece. There hasn't been a great jazz pianist on Looperman since Pedro Casillas ( https://www.looperman.com/users/profile/168005 ). It's a rare treat to hear work like this, especially on Looperman with its proliferation of hip hop and trap producers. This one is so damn good, love the textures on all of the instruments. I can picture myself in a club listening to this while having a really good scotch over ice. Terrific job and a huge thank you for posting quality jazz work. I hope all is well.
Brother, I absolutely love your music. First let me say how nice it is to hear a real musician play real instruments in this digital age. While I appreciate virtual instruments, nothing beats a live recording. Your ability as a composer is really off the charts as well. This one is so well planned out, something John Williams would be proud of. Absolutely a 10/10 as my friend Danke says. You set the bar really high and it is always a pleasure to hear your terrific work. Again, thanks for sharing. I hope all is well.
The concept and flow of this one are really solid. The only thing I hear is a few clicks in the mix (that could be from splicing loops maybe). If you revisit the mix and clean that up it would be top shelf material. The fact people like it is obvious from all the love it's received in just a few short weeks on the loop. Well done. Keep posting the fire. I hope all is well.
First let me say, if that is you on vocals, you have mad skills. I would love to hear the vocals a little bit more, just a bit, to show off your talents. Second, let me say that this has a tremendous amount of commercial appeal, it is well thought out, and executed really well. The mix could use some proper engineering and after that, you could have something that could chart. Anyway, please don't mistake my comments as criticism, I just think this one has mad potential. Keep at it. Your skill sets are good enough to take you places. Well done. I hope all is well.
So my wife and I go to Universal Studios Orlando each year for their Halloween Horror Nights. I guarantee you that this track would have worked spectacularly in several of their "haunted houses" or "scare zones." Definitely a well thought out track that supports the vocals really well. Mix is solid. Heck, the whole track is solid. Outstanding effort. Thanks for sharing. I hope all is well.
First let me say, it sounds like you've been gone for a bit, and if so, this is a great way to return to Looperman. Outstanding track Joe, with a lot of suspense. Vocals are outstanding as has been mentioned. Mix sounds spot on as well. Really well done Joe. Happy Halloween. I hope all is well.
I am glad to be back. To much work and stuff around the last year. So i wasn't able to create to much real songs. Nice to read that i came back with a track you could enjoy. Always good to read so friendly words from a real musician like you. My own claims are from time to time higher and it pleases me if you say that I am reasonably successful.
So thanks a lot for your really friendly comment!
Maybe not all is well but the most real important things are. Also happy Halloween Bear.
Another stellar effort by you and another of your songs added to my favorites. I liked everything about this one, terrific dissonant piano work to the tension provided by the strings and all in minor chords to give it that unhappy feeling. I don't hear the messy bass referenced by Indieground, but I'm listening on headphones so there is that. Anyway, really good tune and I look forward to your jazz horror album as well. I hope all is well.
So I am not a fan of dubstep, but if I ignore the stuff I don't like, this song is beautifully done. I also think the section from around :43 on with the piano is about as good as it gets. I understand dubstep, I am like the Deadpool character in that I just don't like those bass wobbles. Production is really solid and the underlying music is a 10/10 (gorgeous chord progressions). Again, I really liked what you did here, but I would love to hear this one without all the glitched bass stuff. But then it would be EDM or pop or something and that would defeat the purpose for you. Anyway, I ramble. Good solid start to what could be a real winner for you. I hope all is well.
Thank you for taking the time to listen and provide some feedback. I worked quite a bit to get the mixing and mastering down, so I'm glad you noticed. I'd love to experiment with new genres for this song and see what I can come up with. I can definitely see a chill or a pop version with vocals. Much appreciated.
Nicely done. I made the mistake this morning of having the studio monitors cranked a bit and when that bass kicked in, it rattled the rafters, haha. I would imagine there are more than a few rappers who will want to jump all over this one. Thanks for posting. I hope all is well.
Burton, how is it going? So, I moved to Florida and live right next to a big old pond with gators and snakes and mosquitoes and heat and humidity and this song absolutely set the mood for me. Love the sound from the new 4 string, looks like you crafted a winner. So good to hear something from you, especially one that sounds like my new life haha. I hope all is well.
Good to see you around Bear :D To the swamps of Florida from the dry deserts of Arizona, quite the change! I hear the weather is crazy there being surrounded on 3 sides by ocean. If if helps I have a swamp in my yard :)Going well, I've been very busy in the cigar box guitar world lately, not so much time for writing, recording and interacting on here as I'd like, trying to change that. FatKnuckldeFreddy performed on a 4 stringer with the same set up at Maine's inaugural cigar box guitar festival this summer. I had to make one!! Even got him to sign this one at my last luthier show. I just made a 2 string 34 inch scale cigar box bass with another Boneshaker box and my own 2 pole handwound pick up, recording soon to come.
So, one of the biggest reasons I've loved Looperman.com for the past 11 years is the sheer amount of hugely talented people who post their hard work. Now I've gone and discovered another talent that is just waiting for the world to find them. Terrific work on this one, everything from the lyrics to the vocals to the arrangement, to the mixing and mastering. I think you took a swing for the fences and hit this one out of the park. Absolutely outstanding work!! I hope all is well.
I always know before I hit play on any of your songs that I am in for a real treat. This one is no exception, but it is quite exceptional. The first thing that jumps out is the clarity of the mix, dynamics, arrangement, and the musicianship. The violin just is absolutely the cherry on top of this musical sundae. You truly are a master of this medium, Leon. Absolutely beautiful. It will go nicely with this morning's sunrise. Thanks for that. I hope all is well.
So sorry for the very late reply Barry....I somehow overlooked your comment and I wasn't around here for a long time...it happens sometimes..:) In any case thank you so much for your kind words of support...means the world !
