Another nice one J. I guess it's just a matter of preference but for me the highlight was your guitar work in the background. Really tasty licks that nonetheless supported the vocals without overwhelming them. Respect!
Hey man, really cool song you've got here! Doesn't seem like there's a lot of us metalheads on LM unfortunately. If you're looking for genre suggestions, I'd humbly suggest gothic metal. There's something about your sound that I find reminiscent of My Dying Bride and maybe a bit of Lacuna Coil. As such, for vocals I'd recommend something along the lines of Nick Holm. Some really dirty low growls interspersed with clean sections. Check out Paradise Lost - Darker Thoughts if you want to see what I mean.
Yeah we are a rare breed here. Yeah that rings a bell, my friend also suggested gothic metal. Yeah the low growls would be a fantastic addition I believe. I will look it up.
Thank you for listening.
Hey man, great work with this one! Loved the guitar sound, might have to look into those VSTs, I'm always trying to improve mine. I also really enjoyed those spacey synth sounds (At least that's what I think they were) that oscillated between L-R, added a really nice effect.
Thanks for taking a listen. I am glad you found it enjoyable. Believe it or not I get the comment "I don't like rap but I liked this" more often thank you think.
Oh sweet! It's the next entry in the ongoing -ish series! You're coming back very true to form. And yes, I'm still f*cking coveting that synth sound, I've played around with it a bit to try and replicate it but haven't succeeded yet.
Oh and I'm happy to speak on behalf of the defense if Mark presses charges. I loved the tempo change at 0:32. It might've caught me off guard if it didn't seem so organic and unforced.
I'm not sure if you intended this but to my ear, the voice clips that you use almost end up becoming a percussive element. Like the speech rhythm is becoming a counterpoint to the drum groove. That might just be me though.
Your observation skills are off the charts.
It's funny you should mention the Vocals in
a groove with the Bass and Drum. It rhythmic
result wasn't entirely intentional. I noticed
it after I listened to the track while it was
under construction. I have been using the same
Vocal samples for so long that I have them written
into the track before I finish most of the instrument
parts. I placed the Vocals in a rhythmic pattern but I
hadn't really thought about how they help the groove of
the track until after it was finished.
I'm sure in time you will build the exact Synth sound you
are working on. I think it's a on going process that you never finish. It's just tweak after tweak after tweak.
I really appreciate you giving my track a listen and for your encouraging comments.
Hey Mark, sorry I haven't been around much lately. But as soon as I logged on, I knew I had to check your profile because you'd have a new funky track. And indeed you did. And it did not disappoint! This is one of my favs of yours so far, it very much sounded like you but there were so many new musical elements you brought in that I didn't expect. And none felt extraneous or out-of-place at all. As with a lot of your stuff it reminded me of that phrase: The inventor knows they have achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add but when there is nothing left to take away. Cheers bro! Superb work as usual.
Cam, long time no hear from! I trust that all is well with you and yours. It’s an honor and privilege for you to keep tabs on what I’ve been up to. And as always your thoughts and feedback are greatly appreciated. I’m still at it and I’ve got a new round of music coming soon. Be safe.
Holy sh*t, I've never heard anything quite like this! To my ear it sounds like a cross between Depeche Mode, Deep Purple and Dream Theater. But everyone seems to have different ideas about that, which is a tribute to your originality.
I've got a couple of questions I might send you a PM about if that's cool. But awesome stuff man!
Hello Killick,
I appreciate your listen and encouraging comments.
We are all one big family here on LM. PM me whatever
or whenever you like. I hope I can be of assistance...
A few people have said this but I honestly can't think of a better way to describe this track than "dark and heavy with a weird feminine edge" lol. Really cool stuff, that juxtaposition of colours that you make is fairly unusual and really gripping.
Hey M.T. I didn't catch this one when you first dropped it. Fantastic work, as always! My God, I love that organ sound.
The thing I notice most is a little difficult to describe, but the rhodes does a fantastic job of tying the piece together and keeps the energy level up with all those crisp dotted rhythms. And I really love the way all the various solo instruments, the sax in particular, always fit into the spaces that it leaves. It's a really subtle way of making sure that all the instruments feel unified but don't step on each other's toes at the same time. Hope that makes sense lol
Killick, greetings my friend. It's great hearing from you and I trust that all is well with you and yours. When I first dropped this one, I only had it up for one day. To put it into a rotation later. I'm glad you got a chance to hear it, especially after I did some remastering touches. I agree wholeheartedly the best sounding mix is that one where the instruments have their own perspective space. I never aspired to become a composer, writer, or arranger. I was content just drumming. Then I started messing around with some loops and this DAW. At this point, T realized I could assemble a virtual band and basically shape the sound any way I wanted with any instrument. The Rhodes is one of my favorite instruments to listen to. So I use it often for the tonal quality which gives my mixes a nice layered sound and pairs nicely with the other instruments for this genre. Thanks for your interesting perspective, compliments and time. Have an awesome and safe weekend my friend.
Not sure I've ever heard anything quite like this on LM before. Really cool track though. It's nice to hear something kinda fun and a little bit silly.
Love gogo penguin! This is a worthy tribute to them. I would describe GGP and jazz fusion, so I suppose this could be described as Jazz-Electronic fusion.
Cool track. I'm not sure how to describe it but this song has an almost 'sinister' vibe to it. Not something I usually hear in electronic music (though I'm not expert by any means). Really fun stuff.
Pass my congratulations on to Clxrityyy her vox sound absolutely stunning. I also loved the mix of piano and hammond organ (At least I think that's a hammond) in the accompaniment. I just tried that I think you did it better than me lol
Hey Maj, glad to see you're still making killer stuff. The mix makes it sound really chill but very energetic at the same time. Not easy to pull off. Keep rockin'!
Cool track, friend! The distorted keyboards at the beginning give this piece an almost spooky atmosphere, then when the other instruments come in it's full of surprises.
Generally lo-fi isn't really my thing but I'm digging this! Making a really great chill atmosphere while dishes are being done. Really tasteful use of that synth flute sound!
Omg, the whole thing sounds amazing, but I've had a lifetime long love of the B3 and it was so well deployed here. Were any of these virtual instruments or did you record everything directly?
Killick, that B3 has always been a beast of an instrument, and whenever I can use it you better believe I will. Thank you for letting me know this was an amazing listen for you. Ok, the list of VST instruments, Drums, Superior Drummer 3, the piano, and organ is Korg Kronos. I wrote and composed all of the midis. Peace.
Amazing how quickly time goes by isn't it? Looks like we joined the site around the same time. Really cool, chill track man! Really relaxing to listen to.
Hola amigo Killick, me agrada que te haya gustado esta pista. Esta vez he tratado de salirme del encuadramiento de los géneros. Que tengas una buena tarde compañero. Paz y salud en el mundo.

I like to mix different moods in my productions. You are correct in your comments, this is a slightly more experimental song.
