1982.
Buying singles.
A lot of people ignored the "b" side, believing it be just filler.
I ALWAYS listened to the "b" side because sometimes you'd find a gem, frequently instrumental.
Fine Line happily reminds me of that.
I quite enjoyed this track, especially the hypnotic drone running through it. Also liked the way you put the various pieces together to make the song whole.
I really like this...Parts of it sound naggingly familiar...I'm reminded of Marty Willson-Piper's "Travelling Through The Sea Of Sun Machines" - don't know if you're familiar with that...This definitely sounds as if it would fit in 1979 - 1982 era....That's a good thing, in this case :-)
I love good instrumentals, so I downloaded this one.
About the only suggestion I would make is to practice your mixing. You have a cool tom-tom section in the middle which cuts off too suddenly, which is a little jarring.
Ahhh yes...the 70's.....a time of some very creative and varied music. I remember that decade well...some of the best (and worst) times of my life. Thanks for the nice comment. Glad you enjoyed the listen. Peace. -Ken
"Lonely Is The Night" sounds as if it would slot in perfectly with all the other new-wave singles that I collected (and still have and love) in the early Eighties. The track is good just as it is.
That's why I downloaded it :-)
Thanks very much for reviewing.I didn't really realize it sounded like eighties rock but you're the third person to tell me so.Anyway, happy you like it.I'm gonna listen to your tracks now
Thanks for the review Sonny. I had just watched that movie Shutter the night I started it, so I think I had ghosts on the brain. That must be where the eeriness originated.
I love the slippery jazz-inflected blues playing on this track. If I have a concern, it's that the synths over-ride the song in a couple of places. A little (very) light remixing will solve that though. And it's only a minor quibble - I liked it so much, I downloaded it :-)

I love the lyrics and the vocal delivery - I'm a sucker for spoken lyrics (but NOT rap!).
Cool track.
