I'm a minimalist when I make beats but sometimes being too bare bones isn't a good thing. If you're gonna do that style, you might want to think about including more than the same bar over and over on the verse. I don't know what song you sampled, but I bet that part/melody happens without the female vocals at least once.
I can't even hear the actual melody though. The high vocals are too loud.
With the soul sample thing, it's cool if you can spot one that has that immediate hook that you know is going to work but you don't want that to be all the thought you have in the track.
There's an artist I like who in 08 did that style twice on his one of his cds
Now both of those tracks, you have the sped up chipmunk high pitched vocal but you all have the bass line, you also on the first one in particular have variations every now and again to keep it from becoming monotonous.
I think you have the right sample, you just need to put a little more time into it. Add some things.
I like the ambient background, the only reservation I got about it is the main synth that is just hitting the same bah bah bah bah bah bah bahabahabaha repeatedly.
It's the same note being hit again on the bah bah bah bah bah bah and it's kind of monotonous...
I still see the appeal of it and all, the actual soundscape isn't plastic or cheap in anyway, but the main synth bugs me.
It's not bad though.
(continued) the mixing is good, everything is pretty crisp and pro sounding. I think the high synth/signature note hit is pretty out cold.
yeah i totally understand about that main synth. it actually play 3 different notes but its hard to tell cuz its all in the same register. thanks for the kind words homie! appreciate it!
It almost sounds like a conversation in the beginning with the scratchy bit, it's pretty cool with the bass not my normal type of music(I'm a rap fan)I'm used to much slower things. The only negative I noted is that fluttery double tap of what I'm guessing is some kind of light snare? it goes duh du-duh It just seems unnecessary and kind of odd I think it'd be better if it was just a single tap... Maybe that's an issue of personal preference on my part though.
I thought the bells at around the 1:40 mark were kind of a cool break away... The over all soundscape sounds professional, I think you're a lot like Deekline and Quizard.
Pretty cool track man.
I like it. I think you went a little heavy on the sirens but the scratches were ill. It's simple in terms of melody but it's still solid. It all sounds very layered and well done. You should feel pretty good about it.
thx mate....maybe you are right for the sirens but i think that the sirenas should stay because of the song...anyway thax for rew glad you like it...and wait when i put here my vocal!! :)
