on Unfinished Sympathy Cover Feat Anastasia by EricMilligan
i’m unfamiliar w the original, so maybe you can consider this a blindfold test of sorts. it’s a solid tune, made better by the quality of the playing and careful sound selection. i’m attracted by the fact that while it’s a very polished production, it’s not airbrushed beyond having any personality, in fact i thought it was bursting with personality. enjoyed it very much!

Thanks for the encouragment, Xstokes. I was unfamiliar with the original as well. It really is a great example of really well crafted dance track. I think a great deal of thought and skill went into making it.

The original original, by Massive Attack is pretty unique.

There's another cover version by a group called "Hooverphonic" which I think is amazing. Even more symphonic.

on under the slab by Mosestone
man, this is some voodoo — terrifically warped music, the sounds that slip around the ubiquitous lead are insane, and the drumming is the best tribalien beating i’ve heard for ages.

on Another chance by DFay
hey bro! i love the mental vibe, driven crazy by love, it’s deranged and sooo sincere. excellent perf and production, this really creates a character and pulls me in to the story. the theremin-ish synth is cool over the intense recitation. good to see you, my friend. hope all is well!

on Serotonin by KayemCeex
hello. man i really dig this, very well-played in the straight parts, esp loving the bassline. then the impressionistic tweaks and blurs are brilliant and really contibute to the depth of feeling contained in the song. vox and fx are rendered very well. great composition and production on display — damn, man keep going!

on horse to water by Zootman
damn, mate i love the track and must say that wah gtr is just exemplory. solid bass and keys as well, and the looping is really organic. dub fx spot-on. and the pissed-off riddle is the icing on a lake. far out!
Zootman
Zootman replied 23rd Mar 2021 - 4 years ago
thanks man, actually my other half just pointed out (and I kind of had it in mind already) that the vocal doesn't really fit the music - sounds a bit too pissed off! I might have a crack at redoing the vox at some stage to see how it works a bit softer.

on Need You by raymond2wilson
hello. i love the melting feeling you’ve created with this track. vox/lyrics are really well-performed, great pairing. the cycling and trancy music is intriguing and fitting, the gtr is esp fine and the never-ending roll of the drums suits yr theme so nicely. ace track, man!

awesome pseudo-scratching. abstract meta-narrative a little reminiscent of negativland but this benefits from a tighter, more compact approach. very cool. cheers, man!

Timing is flawless mostly because of my sequenser. I managed to hold my urge to play my guitar on it.
