I think I misheard something - maybe on TV, thinking someone said "hyena sunspot" when it was something else entirely. And I thought - decent song title.
Aye thanks man! The beat is free on my website too, if you go to my profile there's a link to it. And I actually went to an indie band called The Local Natives, it wasn't bad :)
This is legit good, the drums the keys and everything. I love when the drums go crazy starting towards the middle, the tune switch up and the stop time worked really well.
I like unorthodox rap flows, when a rapper has the command to rap on and off the natural cadence of the beat at will. And the lyrics/whole song is meaningful too so great job. Nice beat selection too.
Dope beat, it's nice when a beat has a good melody to it, it makes it easier to flow and come up with a hook to it, and boom all that would be left is the verse.
I really liked the reverb effect on the vocals and I think you also used it on some of the instrumens? Also, I have a thing for pianos so I definitely liked the keys on this too.
Hey Femifactor,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I appereciate it.
As for the vocal effect, it's a fun trick: Flip your vox track so it plays backwards and add reverb. Sample the vox on another track, then flip the new recording back. Now the reverb comes before the vocals instead of after and you get a ghost effect :)
I didn't use this on the instuments, just played some of them backwards, cut them into sections and rearranged (just a stylistic thing I often do). Hope this gives you some ideas to play around with.
