on All Night Long with vocals by Carrol
Nice work Carrol, I know how tough it was to find space for vocals in the mix but nice touch, indeed. Keep up the great work.

on Rasta by celestial1157
Interesting intro. I think the drums could have been introduced a sooner in the track but that's just my opinion. Also, I think the snare could have been more in your face as opposed to so far in the mix. The intro chords sound so intimate and soft and so having smooth drums nearer would have made "Rasta" feel more cozy and intimate. I also like the way some of the elements were pitched out of tune. It reminds me of many reggae songs my uncle used to blast at parties. Nice work.

Although I don't listen to much electro these days. this track was ok. Nice ideas. I would have wanted to hear more compression on some of the elements. I think it would make it gel more, but solid ideas and interesting and divers transitions. Nice work. All the best for 2012.

Nice track, very fun. New and fresh sounds. Did you set all the instruments on auto pan or something? It's hard to tell where some instruments are located in the stereo field.

on Freaky Freaky (Jazziro Tribal Mix) by Jazziro
I enjoyed this track. I like the intro. Very dj friendly. I think around the 1:00 mark, you brought in many elements. I know it's tempting to add samples and instruments on a track, but if you listen to some of the pros, the best producers use their space wisely. Headroom is like real estate in a mix. Avoid cluttering the mix with too many elements and watch the reverb. Reverb can hog a lot of headroom. Just like you, I'm in the same boat and often remove elements in a track once it's done, just to give the track some breathing room. Nice inspiration my man. Keep doing your thing. Nice to see some house heads on Looperman!

Yea this melody takes me back to the 80's lol. I think it was originally a song by The Police called Invisible Sun. Great strings in there.

on (unfinished) SandM Mix by RynDeShea
Nice track. I know the sound that you're going for. I don't know about placing the reverb on the kick. Makes the track sound boomy. But overall nice piece. I wish to hear you complete it.

on SYMPHONIC MOVE 2011 by vaKANga
Lots going on in this track. It was difficult to pin point where a sound originated from with all of the panning effects. I think perhaps pushing some of the musical elements in the background would give the track more depth. Also, consider breaks every now and then. I used to run a loop forever until a seasoned producer gave me a few production tips.
Sometimes, removing the kick drum or bassline for a few bars does wonders for a track. Also, try experimenting with more compression on the bass. It seems to be in your face and hogging up lots of headroom. Nice track.

I'm guessing this is a quick mix. Nice work. Not crazy about the panning of an entire track to one channel. Nice beats nonetheless. Will listen to more of your sets.

on Feelings demo by OzzyIR
Overall nice job. Personally I do think the low end could use some cleaning up. Perhaps shorten the release of the kick drum and add some compression on some of the percussions. I think it would open the mix a lot more and let the vocals come through. I struggle with compression all the time and know how difficult it can be to nail.

Interesting track. I won't repeat what previous reviewers have said. Solid use of the side chaining kick and bass. I like the use of the space in the mix. At times, I think perhaps some dissonance was apparent when layering chords and other sounds on top of the bass. Great job.

on Kelvin Gate - His Dream by KelvinGate
Nice clean production. I like the arrangement and thought process. Simple yet to the point. All of the elements are mixed well. Nice use of the vocal samples and transitions. Also, nice use of the space. Not clutter at all and all of the elements shine through.

Are the drums programmed or are they from a loop library?
KelvinGate

Enjoyed listening to this track. At times I wish a solid groove would drop but instead, you opted for more creative rhythmic patterns and effects. Overall nice job. I find most of the house that is considered banging are typically simple in arrangement. I guess most producer want to stamp the groove and have it seared into the listeners mind.

thanks for the comment, I appreciate your opinion on this. Dropping the groove appeals to me as a concept to extend the track, I might get to it in the future since I really like this one myself.

on We Love Electro by DrLoopy
Solid electro track. I know how addictive those stereo bassline can be but they often eat up so much space. Maybe mono-ize the lower frequencies and widen the higher. Nice track and development. Its gets sexier at 2:17. Nice riff. I would have developed that further.

on Empty Light by Marius9
Great idea. First the mix is interesting. I think you have many things going on in the front. Not all the sounds should be so bright and in your face. The vocals are ok. I know your situation so we wont get into this. But this might be a fun project to remix.
Marius9

Yeah, if someone wants to redo the vocals, I'll actually mix the song better, but until I get that offer, I'm just gonna keep it at this and be proud of how far I have come.

The intro reminds me of the tv soap The Young and The Restless.
Great beginning. That's the problem with great intro, they need to be developed and evolve. I as well struggle with this at times. I think you can add more to it. Try variations or introduce more intruments. Give it life.
Great start to a potentially solid track.

on Electro Banger by Apieceoftofu
Interesting track. When I hear it, it sounds like bed tracks to a vocal track. Perhaps some female vocals on top would "fill" it up. Good transitions and grooves.

i appreciate the constructive critique, yea i had hoped to run across some vocals that would go well with this as purely instrumental electro doesn't really float my boat a whole lot. have any in mind? peace

Let me know when you complete the track, would like to here how is progresses. As for quality, sounds clear.

on We Escape the Embrace of Darkness by philipteale53
Interesting intro. Sure captures the imagination, and I liked the way you transitioned into the soothing vocal choral. So how was this done? Did you have a choral loop going or what is a long sample ? Cinematic and dreamy sequence. I think listening to this piece, my mind was more active recreating a scene in my head. I say recreating because I believe you already had your own scene in mind, hence the title. Do you write for movies, tv?
