It's hard to pinpoint but when the beat first comes on it sounds great. Nothing is too loud on my end but then when the snare breaks down and the beat kicks in, it begins there. The WHOLE track sounds distorted. It may just be the drums? It just sounds like the overall mix on the whole thing is too loud. But then on some sections like @1:37 when the sounds drop out right before it breaks down again and comes back, it sounds fine again. Then when the whole beats comes back in, it starts to distort again. Its probably your drums and that vox sample you used. Just try adjusting your drums, the vox and then that synth lead might have to come down a bit. I say keep this version and edit the beat again and save it as take 2. Dont overwrite the original track. Just work on it and save it as part 2 or something. Because im listening on some pretty small speakers, but if it distorts on these things then I know something is wrong. Hope this helps, sorry for the book I wrote lol. Lata
Okay guys this is really unexpected, I tried to fix any distortion from the very beginning and now this... I'm working on it though, lowering things up, and will update in a few minutes (if possible here). Thanks for the advices, although I would really not like it if it sounds less powerful after I do a little bit more mastering...
I have to say, I'm very impressed by some of the members here and their ability to take effects and use them to really help create a certain feeling when I listen to their work. This was creative I think, it definately creates this sort of crazy atmosphere which helps me picture something wild going on. Nice for maybe the beginning or closing credits to a movie or something crazy like that lol. Hey keep it up!
Hey man this song sounds pretty hype and loud and energetic and dangerous and everything! One problem...it's distorting really bad over here. Im afraid you mixed this down way too loud! You have to do something about that because this has a lot going for itself but if its distorted then it wont leave a good taste in the listeners mouth on any system. Work on that mix and keep up the good work. Nice drums, I like the kit you used (watch that snare, dont let it overpower the beat). Peace man
I hadn't noticed, you're right, the snare is a bit too loud. I wish you told me where exactly you find the distortion too loud though. It seems to play fine here. Maybe it's the bass, I'm not sure if that's the problem. Thanks for the review!
This is different. I can appreciate that. I think i like pretty much everything about this. It sounds powerful in some places like when the strings come in. One thing I can say I think is wrong is that snare. OMG you had to have a better snare than that! It's just so brittle and weak sounding, it dosnt have any snap or smack to it. It just dosnt seem to match the energy of the rest of the beat. But im picturing something harder hitting and I'm not sure if that would work either...Maybe this is the best snare to use for this track? Also maybe try changing the drum pattern up somewhere in there to give me (the listener) something to look forward to later in the song. As it is now, it can seem a bit repetitive even though the instruments are changing. Either way, I think this is dope. I really like this. Thanks for sharing.
yooo, nice beat man. i like this. turn that shaker down some it stands out way too much as well as that crash....and im not sure the crash should hit twice like that....it kind of throws me off some. try to take care where you place a crash cymbal because it can either help or hurt the groove I think.... Everything else sounds really cool man. Great sounds. Lata! Keep it comin!
Dont ever throw anything away. You never know, you might hear something that inspires you and totally changes the direction of the beat. Its a good start. It would take the right person to bring the greatness out of the track. I think the sounds are fine. I like that string/synthy thing in the back, it sounds cool. Keep workin on it. Leave it alone for a while and come back to it later....
wow those strings are heavy man. they sound thick on these small speakers (im at work lol). Its coming together I like this....Nice drum arrangement. It fits the feeling I think. I envy people who can create this kind of sound. Good job, keep workin on it.
Sup Mike...Wonderful beat man. BUT.... That mix is horrible! Some things are just so loud and other things are too low. This is in the RnB genre so make sure you level your instruments right. The sounds all work together really well but man, some of this is just way too loud. You have a nice beat here, just fix your mix. Cya
Umm...I kinda like this..lol. Some beats just make you wanna flow to em. The hook though i'm not diggin all that much. I think it may be that crash cymbal you used. Its either too loud/overpowering or just dosnt fit at all. But that's just my opinion. I dig the beat a lot. Good job.
Hey I kinda like this lol. Sounds like you need to raise a few levels in this though. Your drums are a bit low in the mix...especially that kick. Hey keep workin on this though. Good job.
yeah i know thet da drums r kinda low , but da synth was made 4 hardcore n da drums 4 rap ,maybe it doesent fit well da 2 , but thenk`s 4 da review i will try to fix it :))
Hey shoemn, thanks for sharing. Is it me or are some of those notes off? Im here to review and be honest so I'll let you know straight up, those sounds you're using are very cheesy sounding and really don't do much for me as a listener. BUT, I do like that piano pattern you have going on. The drums are also pretty cool and they help the piano along. I can appreciate that but when that flute(?) sound comes in, it really throws me off. The notes dont seem to agree and it just sounds like you're using stock sounds of whatever software you're using. I say dig a bit deeper and find some better sounding instruments. The beat is just ok...I like the way they drums sort of move the piano along...Just get some better sounds! Lata! :)
Well this definately sounds like a west coast track! The drums are really overpowering the rest of the beat. I can barely hear what's going on underneath them. Fix those levels and make sure everything compliments another and dosn't drown out eachother. I love the drum programming actually and the kit you used sounds great for this track. The beat is hard, just needs some work on those levels. Definately flowable though! Hey keep doin your thang. I love where this is headed.
Hey, I like the sounds and the efx you used. The drum kit/hits you used sound like they fit the rest of the beat, as well as the way you arranged them. However, the hihats and shakers(?) seem a bit loud in the mix. They stand out way more than I like to hear. It may not even be that the level is too high, but they are definately cranking on the high end! The beat is cool though, I like it. One of the synths sound great in the back. Keep it up, Dust!
