on Voyage in to unknown by Dj_Lex
Hi DJ_Lex
I do not listen to as much Techno as I used to but I have been thinking about trying to create a Techno track just for a change.
I enjoyed your track some strange sounds in there but they all worked well within the track, good arrangement and I thought the transitions were very good. Well done mate.

on antidisestablishmentarianism by AdHD
Hi AdHD
I enjoyed your track im a right house junkie even though im a half century old Ha!Ha!
seriously though I did like the track ive just listened to it through the headphones and the monitors and sub and something does not sound quite right but im not the most technical when it comes to Dbs and levels and all that sorta stuff. It think you may need some compression on your drums maybe some of the more technical guys on the site can help you out a bit more - thats as long as im not talking a lot of rubbish! but its just how it sounds to me.
Anyway I liked the track and you are def headin in the right direction bud.
Nice One

on My Gaia (World House) by DonnieVyros
Hello
Enjoyed your track but I am a real percussion junkie so it is well suited to me. I really like the bells I thinks bells can add a sorta dark and eerie feel to house tracks and I like that, they are a bit loud in the mix as you say yourself but its a good tune mate.

Yeah, I am too (perc junky) and the I thought the Bells were great, but in a spaced out and vacant sorta way. Like I probably couldn't've gotten away with using them alot, ya know. As for the rest, I'll prolly rework this sometime during the summer. Glad ya dug it. Later on!

on Guitar House by Deepspace
Hi deepspace
Enjoyed your track mate I think I could just sit and listen and listen and listen to this track.
I dont know if the little bit of horn sound and the sorta trancey synth fits the track that well, but I can see where you are coming from and why you have added them at those points in the track.
Nice One

on acoustic stimulus package by audioprojek
Hi Robby
Nice track def a fusion track. Kinda cinematic\ethnic sorta sound
But i do think Kurt has hit the nail on the head there when he talks about using some plugins to even things out a bit.
i have quite a few of the free plugins from voxego myself they are really good and I just throw them in and experiment with them
and see what things sound like cause I just do everything by ear myself.
What I do quite a lot is drop effects or compression onto the master track and see what things sound like I dont know if that is the right way to go about things but its worked for me sometimes, especially with the amount of percussion sounds I use.
Anyway nice track Robby

Kurts recommendations were mint! I went and ordered Boost 11 to and got a trial for Ozone 4, only to discover that these plugin's are hammering my antique laptop to death... at least Ozone is. Boost doesn't even show up... perhaps a new laptop is in order... :S
I will employ your techniques as well. I've tried abit already, but the changes are so subtle that I am not sure they are even happening. lol. Acid has a few inhouse plugins already, but I haven't been able to notice what's happening, if anything is at all.
You and Kurt both have been very helpful. Much appreciated!

on Are You Real by audioprojek
Hello
I can tell why this is one of your favorites, this is a real good tune.Im listening at work with just a pair of laptop headphones and It all sounds pretty good to me a bit distortion at the beginning but I will have another listen in the studio tonight I will email you again later
Nice tune bud

If you're listening with earphones, you're probably hearing what I'm hearing. Thing is, for some reason, in Acid, its not so grungy... its like any song gains some distortion when I convert it to MP3. I'm sure there's some sort of finishing work I could do at this end, but I don't know what... any ideas? ScottBurright mentioned messing with the master and adjusting the dB's... as is, they're all below 0...
I'll go back at it tonight. This one I want to get right.
Cheers!

on Wicked Trout Solo by JHolmes
Hi JHolmes
Not what I was expecting when I saw Techno as the genre.
Nice playing of the keys, but the track sounds like it needs some sort of depth to it maybe some pads along with the keys would be good in this type of track, Im no expert myself everything I do is by ear im just saying what I feel bud.

JHolmes replied Unknown
What would you say this should be filed under, as a genre? I've never been terribly good at naming genres when it comes to anything synthetic. I use techno as a catch all for anything with a pretty synth-y feel.

I do everything by ear too, but I have trouble listening to my music how it sounds (I hear it how I want to hear it) so I miss out a lot when it comes to deepening/filling/mastering because it's all there in my head. If I add pads, should I just drop up/down an octave or two and move it the same way as the piano/whatever I'm trying to add depth to? I have a tendency to write harmonies that ramble around and end up taking over the melody eventually, so I'm very wary of wantonly throwing down new tracks on top of the old ones. I end up washing out the sound instead of making it more interesting.
