You can use any software. It doesn't matter if you are using Sonar, Cubbase, Reason or FL Studio. All sythezators are based on osscilators. I'm using FL Studio 6 and some nonstandard plugins. My favourite is Vanguard from Re-fx team. In this track i used an oldschool method of trance loop. Sometimes is the best choice. But now many plugins have a tool called Appregator and Trance Gate. Appregator is really old but it has evolved. OMG sorry for my english :/
Anyway, you can't make sound like this using only synths. The most important thing is Compressor and Equalizer. Compressor makes the track sound dynamic and cut the sounds for plans. First plan, second plan etc. But after that we can't hear some sounds. For that is Equalizer. To bring they back. If you want i can make a screenshot of that melody in piano roll. It's really simple.
