great intro the guitar is sweet AF Bear, the drums are really cool too excellent quality the flat of the bass and the shaker with that snare, it give me a feeling of somebody returning to his home, havin left to chase a dream that everyone laughed at, he rides into town with a big smug smile on his face, really nice vibe and top production Bear, the sound quality is amazing on both speaker and headset
Brother, thank you so much for the kind feedback. I've got a lot of old songs lying around so I've been having fun trying to breathe life back into them. You have an astute ear my friend. As always, your time and feedback is greatly appreciated. I hope all is well.
Thank you for the kind feedback. The guitar took a few overdubs to get it right, haha. As always your time and kindness are greatly appreciated. I hope all is well.
Thanks so much Vic, I have had this one around for a while and thought it was time for a redo. So glad you stopped by to give it a listen and comment. I hope all is well.
I really like this, always a sucker for the celtic style. Fiddles, whistles, whatever you can throw at me. This is a lovely piece of music. I can see it in some drama. I am especially fond of 1:20+.
My friend, thank you so much for the generous feedback. I always liked this song, but felt it needed more, so I added the mandolin and violin. The section from 1:29 is my favorite as well. As always, your time and comments are appreciated. I hope all is well.
Wow! Your talent knows no bounds! This is absolutely gorgeous, and obviously stands up to the passage of time. The string arrangement is perfection. This track SOARS! By the way, do you remember "Nu Man,"? Well, it's finally going to see the light of day in a few months. I and some friends have given it a fresh arrangement. I think you will did it when you hear it. I will send you a copy sometime before it's released. Well done, my friend, on this track!
Mykjael, it is so good to hear from you and it's also great to hear you are still creating music. I do remember Nu Man, and I look forward to the fresh new look. I really do hope life is good for you. As always, thanks for the years of friendship and support. Happy Holidays!
how are you Bear, beautiful intro my friend, keys and strings are gorgeous together, i liked the quiet drum, then it opens and a bit more umph, i think it is also seasonal sounding too, its a charming piece of music, it brings joy, it brightens the mood for sure, the mix and production are also on point mate, great vibe Merry Christmas old friend
Dime, my brother. Thanks so much for the kind feedback. I really appreciate your support. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year.
Cinematic indeed. It's a powerful soundtrack giving inspirational movie vibes. Sync licensing agencies will love this one.
Thanks for sharing it here.
Cheers!
Glenn, thank you so much for the kind words and for stopping by. You are definitely one of my favorite artists on here, so your feedback is greatly appreciated. Happy Holidays!
Joyous - the camera pans the trees and birds flicking water off their wings. Rainbow reflections in rivulets of rain down panes of windows. Somebody opens an umbrella and splashes through puddles in wellies. V atmospheric
Man, what a beautiful comment. It made me smile. Thanks so much for stopping by to give a listen and comment. It is greatly appreciated. I hope all is well.
My opinion may be flawed, but it's still something to think about.
Everyone's talking about the impact on musicians and music, but what about the most likely illegal use of copyrighted material? Music companies with big money for lawyers, successful musicians with big money for lawyers, can get money/license fees for their material being illegally used to train AI models, but what about the hundreds of thousands, or is it millions, of unsigned music creators whose creations are being used? I checked some AI resources (academic use) and came across Jamendo collection (Dataset is made available solely for non-commercial research and academic use) but you could download and use it, it's just 508 GB ;), tools for ripping audio (wav) from YouTube based on genre. In my opinion, AI is probably based on theft. Why theft? Have you all, and all other music creators around the world, given these AI training material collectors permission to rip your/their songs and/or acapellas for free for commercial use by AI? If not, then it's illegal commercial use of copyrighted material, right?
Most likely I'm stupid...
I know there is a lot of discussion on the legality of this and I also tried an experiment on this tune. I put it up on YouTube and they said the song was clean, no copyright issues. I also used Shazam and a few others to check to see if any other songs sounded like it, and they could not find any. Now, does that prove there isn't any theft involved, not really, but I'm not sure that the random nature of what they do minimizes the risk to real artists and real songs, and keeps things from getting out of hand. I've had a couple of my loops used by some pretty high profile rappers, with no recognition, and while I put them up here for folks to use, I think it is disingenuous of them to pretend my work was their own (on one song, Billboard magazine loved the guitar riff, and the producer of the record took full credit for it). Personally, I think modern day musicians have little to no problem stealing from others (the 30 second rule). I hear current songs that literally rip off other tunes and give no recognition where they stole the idea from. I have no answer or solution to any of this, I just thought it was interesting that AI could write lyrics, and music and put together a pretty decent tune with just a little bit of coaching. As always I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and weigh in on this. I hope all is well.
I must admit that the song is wonderful in every way !!!!!! Human creative participation is minimized....and yet we have a perfect result! Because AI has "created" this track, based on what it already knows. But music expresses life and that is why we have so many different types of music. Because life is incredibly complicated !! For example, I don't think AI could have invented rap or trap etc. (on its own) 15-20 years ago ! AI can "create" because there are relevant musical data .... ! The truth is that it is not possible for the AI to feel what life is, joy, sadness, emotions ! Anyway, we definitely need musicians just as we need mathematicians and we need to get basic arithmetic knowledge (all of us), even though we have pocket calculators.... Cheersssssssssssssssssss !!!
Great comment my friend. I don't know where all of this is going to go, but hopefully 50 years in the future people are still good for something, hahaha. As always, I appreciate you giving this a listen and commenting. I hope all is well.
You've raised a really good question here and judging by the comments, it's definitely got people talking. Personally, I truly hope that AI isn't the future of music, as I find that utterly depressing. I can't imagine a World without musicians, singers, DJ's, bedroom producers, live performances. I'm not a fan of AI, especially when it comes to music production. Music to me should be about people creating something, either as a group or on they're own. Coming up with a melody, a hook, a guitar riff, bass line, drum beat, vocal harmonies etc, that's when the magic happens and that magic can happen in a recording studio, on stage in front of an audience, jamming in your mum and dad's spare room with your mates or sat at your computer using a DAW , which I imagine most of us do? And why do you produce music? It's that desire to create something that you can share with others or not, as some people don't share the music they produce, but it's still about wanting to create something, whether it's art, cinema or in this case, music. That need, thankfully will always exist and the emotion that exists within music is something that AI can't replicate. Sure, AI will be used in some aspects of the music industry, but it will never replace humans or their desire to be creative. I have no desire to ask AI to produce a song for me. Where's the fun in that? The actual song itself is good and I wouldn't have guessed it was AI, but knowing that it is AI generated, obviously alters my opinion. A good experiment though and it's got us all talking! Thanks.
Brother, thanks for the thoughtful reply. I agree with you that creating something with an instrument of any kind is one of the greatest feelings there is. When I had the AI build this song, my input was simply telling it tempo, key, type of vocalist, song style and then subject matter for lyrics and the AI did the rest. Honestly, not a lot of fun, but the end result surprised me, and not in a good way. I sent the song to a few of my musician friends and didn't tell them it was AI and none of them suspected anything until I told them what I did. And, if I had decided to do the mixing and mastering myself, I think it could really fool people. I hate that we are at this stage in our musical lives, but it is here to stay. I'll keep plucking strings and pounding keys and making noise, but I fear for the musicians of tomorrow. As always, your comments are greatly appreciated. I hope all is well.
"ShortBusMusic." That's hilarious. If we want to see live gigs, we'll need human performers. Can you picture millions of teen age girls losing their minds over an AI generated K-pop band? How about the fanatical devotion Taylor Swift gets from her fans? It's no different the hysteria over the Beatles, Elvis or Rudolf Valentino. Performers become living gods so fans can experience the extasy of transcendence at their gigs. It's an archetypal experience AI will never be able to replicate.
I've been ShortBusMusic since 2003 (works for me haha). While I agree with your sentiments, AI "bands" are already being signed. Here's a quote from an online article:
"Major Label Licensing Deals
In a separate development, all three major music labelsUniversal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Grouphave signed licensing agreements with the AI music startup Klay Vision Inc..
Platform Functionality: Klay is building a streaming platform that uses an "ethical AI" approach, allowing users to interact with and remake licensed songs in different styles using AI tools. The company aims to respect copyrights while creating new avenues for fan experience and artist compensation.
Legal Settlements: These deals follow a period of legal challenges, during which major labels sued other AI music generators like Udio and Suno for copyright infringement. Warner and Universal have since settled their lawsuits with Udio and plan to launch a collaborative, licensed AI music creation platform in 2026 that will provide artists the ability to opt-out and receive payment if their work is used." The AI Artist: Xania signed for a reported $3,000,000. I don't like it, but maybe I should...
I realised after that you were commenting on a totally different track than I realised so I'm just here to claim I'm an idiot which was not the first time that day. I like that your only allowed one feedback per comment and no takeseys backsies however I plum duffed this one.
I see you have turned off comments on your other tracks but I gotta say there really good man, the instrumentation and sentiments are powerful and rolling my heart, I hope you don't mind me saying this and wish you wellness and great things with whoever you meet and whatever you do. Peace Sounder
Hahaha, no problem my friend. I have a lot of senior moments and with the new Looperman, it is impossible to edit comments so it is all good. Thanks for giving the others a listen and your kind feedback on those as well. It is appreciated. I hope all is well.
Yes AI can imitate music and synthesize sounds, but it cannot imitate original internal ideas and thoughts that lie in our hearts. People feel such things whatever one says about it.
I absolutely agree. I've been a musician for over 60 years and until now, I thought we were never going to be replaced. But it looks like AI could be the new normal, and it saddens me. Thanks for weighing in on this. I hope all is well.
Human emotion and creativity cannot be artificially replicated to the point of being indistinguishable from the real thing. Not yet. Theres always something that gives it away, to me. I hope im long gone from the world when our art no longer belongs to us - our emotions and our imaginations will no longer be our own
Ive been a member of this community for several years myself, Ive seen alot of growth, and Ive seen a few negative things. Ive met terrible people, and ive met lifelong collaborators who i now count among the best of friends. Ive shared alot of music, ive listened to and critiqued alot of music, much like still do. I became the producer of an awesome group, ive been a part of several projects here on LM that a extremely good, if not great. Ive been involved in a stinker or 2. Ive learned alot from my peers, and ive taught alot, as well. I even started a Discord server to assist the community here with collaborations last year. Not a single time have i used any intelligence other than mine to accomplish those things, and never in a million years will I. Im a lifelong musician, and a producer for over a decade, and the skill and experience ive earned from a lifetime of learning and failing, getting up and trying again is a trillion times more valuable than anything skynet is going to throw at me. Well, besdies the inevitable nukes and human extinction, id say. A.I. can be utilized by some to achieve quite a few things. It has no place in art, imo. That belongs solely to us and it should always be so.
Anyway, the song is ok. I guarantee your worst song without the use of A.I. is 100000000 times better.
Thanks for weighing in on this one. I figured that the majority, if not all of Looperman would be against AI in the creation of music. While I can see some benefits - fleshing out instrumental ideas, help with lyrics, building a drum beat )maybe), the actual creation of a song completely by the AI, performed by the AI, mixed and mastered by the AI, is just going a bit too far. I don't know how one controls this, especially now that the toothpaste is out of the tube, but I would hope something could be done. As always, I appreciate all that you have done, and all that you continue to do for the Looperman community. I joined originally in 2008, and it has been quite the ride. Take care and as always, I appreciate your feedback. I hope all is well.
It is a very sad song and maybe this is the AI's catchy purpose. I do not know. It is complicated. If you have suffered such events, these lyrics AI or not, are sad. Maybe I would not try to write a Christmas song based on sorrow and loss, but this is just me. The song is really beautiful, the instrumentation covers just fine an acoustic song and the instruments make music to the ears of most of the non-musicians. I have read that for now the American legislation will not accept music made by AI as copyrighted. oF course there will or there are clarifications on what music produced by AI is, or what is the "percentage" of :legal" use of AI in this scope. What is AI assisted or enhanced music. It is a new means, very powerful and it is not machinery. It is thousand of people working, billions of dollars spent and it is not only music. Creativity is a human characteristic but computers are a product of human creativity. We cannot blame them for anything. Man wanted transportation, trips on the sea and in the air. Man wanted to reach the moon and still tries to reach Mars and how knows other planets. Man loves to dream and to be creative. And there has always been the challenge and the competition. It is a challenge and it will be a competition. It is unfair, we can't beat those huge clusters of artificial intelligence and some will take advantage of it, no doubt. It is like inventing wheel, it is huge and we, as societies will have to adopt. Do you think that in medicine there is less AI to come? It is our lives, yet statistics will finally tell. Is statistics always 100 per cent accurate? Difficult verdict.
Anyway, I liked the song but the lyrics truly made me trist.
Best regards, Anthony
Thanks for not only giving this one a listen, but also for giving a very astute opinion on AI generated music. The lyric generator works from suggestions, and I wrote that I wanted a Christmas song about a guy who is trying to get home for the holidays, but with the government shutdown, he was going to have to catch the last train to his destination in order to be there by Christmas...and this is what it gave me. I was hoping for something a little merrier, but again, in the spirit of the experiment, I wanted to let the AI virtually do everything. I'm glad I'm old and have had a lifetime of pleasure of playing real instruments to record and perform live. I'm not sure I could make a career out of being an AI artist, but there are those out there who are. As always, your comments and feedback are truly appreciated. I hope all is well.
sorry i forgot to say us Humans are supposed to be so intelligent, that's why we survived and inhabited the planet, i think we are the stupidest ever to have lived on earth, we build a robot to take our jobs ,it started with cars, now everyone's job is at risk theyve got robots delivering allsorts, this is Terminator the Final Destruction-we're all f#cked :)
That's kind of my idea on this as well. I told my wife I was sure glad I'm an old man, but I worry about my grandkids. Those movies are starting to look like they may turn out to be factual and not fiction, haha.
