Off the bat, piano needs more 2,500-6,000Khz punch to it. Amen's nice, but it's got a distorted feel to it.
Nice lead up, bass is wicked, but the frequencies are overlapping, it needs a major eq overhaul. It's difficult to get something with such a full sound (full range frequency) so sound good with another instrument with the same full range frequency. Choose which frequencies to play with (via bass and beat) then give them the room they need. Aka, the beat 2,500-4,000Khz are the mid range ("ticka's" of the beat, mid of the bass kick and mid of the snare) and 4,500-6,000Khz is the higher frequencies (hi hats, cymbal, and high freq's of the snare). Choose which one to keep on the beat and then subtract the one you chose from the bass to get the best results. (2,500-4,000Khz are a great range for the basses).
Great energy! Keep it up.
Steve
wow...lol
hey thanks for the advice yoiuv virtually mixed this track all in one paragraph!! lol..
this is just an early version remixed on a pc..soon this will get thrown back into my set up and eq'd up properly and mixed down alot more ...
needs alot more work put into it.
i appreciate your advice and will take some of it into consideration, so thanks for that and for listening in!!
respect.. have a great new year!!
lol.. thanks man..
the beat is pretty basic kick snare with a chopped break layered underneath..
colabing with one of my good mates and have been remixing this track recently .. its sounding alot more darker and twisted so keep eye out for when i upload it.. it will sound completely different !!
thanks and have a good xmas !!
hey hows it going??
thanks for your reply the bass was just a simple 4 note sine using the exs24 in logic pro which i think gives the best sub/low end..
your productions pretty tight to ,i heard a couple of ur trax, sounding nice and loud!!
i halved the bpm on this tune which made a nice old school hiphop version of this track dont knoow if you heard, but yeah kinda worked even though its pretty basic..
thanks for taking the time to review much appreciated !
enjoy the holidays !!
I think you have a pretty good piece here. Could serve well as a cinematic piece. Some spoken word might enahnce it quite a bit, but it stands alone just fine.
hey john!
yeah its missing alot this due to me just getting bored with it tbh..
but i will get back to it sometime and do something with it.. i tend to start trax and leave them ,get a large back log of stuff then go back to them with a fresh mind and finish them of!!
i will add some vocal fx, just need the right source..if you have any suggestions let us know !!!
cheers mate ...
intense bass. I would love to see this finished. It would be cool if it would drop into the deep (right after the voice) a bit more evidently, maybe a deep sideline, all sounds great to me, love it.
yea iv listened to it a few times for ideas to add to it but as im busy and that i havent had time or motivation to go back to it ...
what did you mean by go into the deep after the voice?
i can always do with advice :)
theres some good ideas here ... I won't go on about levels because as you've said you know there not quite right.. a nice military feel to your drum track that snare has real character.. over all nice I'll check back to see if you ever get around to up dating it.. nice track... keep 'em coming brother
Sounds like your gonna let this one go.
I would urge you not to.
Take ryan's suggestion and expand it. Don't fall prey to starting music and leaving it unfinished. You'll never know how it would have turned out. If your getting bored with it, its not because you done with. Find out what excited you in the first place and add more of that.
When did this review turn into a motivational speech. Sorry. Do what you want. Maybe you'll let me bite this track then I'll ask alaska and ryan if they wanna collab on it.
In any case, keep it up.
NOICE WORK!!
na its good what your saying and im hearing what you mean but working out what else a track needs after spending a few hours on it can get daunting so i tend to get bored of trax fter a bit and end up abbonding them. have loads of backlogged tunes like this unfiished. i will go back to them one day and finish them off. i just threw this one up on here coz this is what i was working on and i wanted to open an account on here.
thanks the motivational review u guys made me now want to work more on it. maybe il do something with it when i have a day free.
thanks for listening to it..
peace
Well ur right about it being too short. Not really into drum and bass much these days but still have a listen now and again for old time's sake. Liked ur track. Liked the droney delays on the bass. Could be expanded into a dubbed out drum and bass monster!
yea may just work on it more. but unless i finish something off i get bored of it and just move onto something new. may just duck this one and start another track nextime i get some free time!!
thanks for listening though...
