Very epic sounding, great mix of orchestra and rock. Great production and arrangement, I could imagine this on the big screen. Very impressive, I like it.
Great track Bill, you're very good at this Symphonic style,I think you always have been but it just keeps getting better!
Production,style,guitar...You are one of my hero's!
intensely dramatic yet amazingly compact - you get one helluva lot of feeling and searching sounds in here with precision - what i'm trying to say is this is consummate craft that don't feel crafted - just great music, brother
Very cool track, I always love tracks like this, they seem to carry a lot of emotion and have a lot of impact on the listener. I can picture this being something played during a battle sequence in a movie. Great job on this and great playing as usual. Keep it up, I always look forward to listening to your tracks.
Wow! This is something! I always enjoyed symphonic metal and this is right up that alley! Although a bit on the soft side it still delivers that edge and power that both an Orchestra Ensemble and electric guitars should deliver.
I'm am gonna say that it sounds a bit dark and I guess you've had a bit of trouble getting everything to sit in it's right place! There is a bit to much low mid info in brass, horns, strings, guitars and all those compete quite a bit in there. A very hard genre to mix but very rewarding once you get it right!
Enjoyed the arrangement really much and in quite a few places it reminded me of Kamelot, Epica and similar bands which I really enjoy!
I am just now discovering you, and I am left wondering what other jewels of yours I will find. You have blessed us all with your amazing talent, as have your friends. Fantastic Trio!
A wonderful rendition of this classic song. Many years back I used to play at our college folk club and at the end of the evening all the guests would be called up for the final song. It was always Wild Mountain Thyme. Thank you for bringing back such great memories. Lovely playing and perfect instrumentation. What next? Flower of Scotland perhaps?
Bravo....perfectly done...its a tune I have heard many times down East (Cape Breton) and a fav at the music fests there...I have done more than a few Celtic tunes (being originally from N Ireland) that try to combine the traditional & some modern sounds...but nothing like this Bill...beautiful work on the instrumentation and the vocal & harmonies are totally on the money.....very much enjoyed...I could go for a lot more like this.....Ed
I've never heard you sing before, it's great to put a voice to the pic. Nice job with this one, I like the tempo and mood to this, makes me feel like donning my kilt and getting involved in a hurling match, lol. As usual, the production was great. I did a traditional Celtic track called Foggy Dew a few weeks back, a collab. It's getting a remix and some instruments added but if you have the time check it out. Something about folk music that just reaches my inner core as a musician. Well done Bill!
Whoah! The harmonies in this are amazing. The way the musical elements interplay with the vocals melodic line is fantastic. This is a true representation of folk music and a really good lesson on how to use modern elements and yet create something that takes you so far back in time.
Excellent choice of instrumentation and a great delivery. I must agree with Dave it can easily be played as part of a large concert.
Wow thanks Mahloo. I can tell you must be a real lover of any kind of music. Just from review, I can tell by you have keen ears. The song is over 150 years old. I guess a writer can definately make a song timeless. I wish I could do the same heheh. Cheers and thanks again ! - Bill (Bilbozo)
Man I'm 99% Scotts..I've always wanted to make Celtic music but wouldn't know where to start for the life of me..after listening for about 4 bars I can feel the tug of the genetic code stirring (thank God there were no lead bagpipes..they always make me feel like marching off to war! lol).....seriously though Bill this is absolutely beautiful, and your vocals fall into that true 'folk' area..a place where the impact isn't measure in chromatic gymnastics but in sincerity and timing....it takes me to a place I've never been but would love to visit...fantastic arrangement, with enough polish to play a large concert hall yet still blow the froth off a pub full of Guinness! cheers Dave :)
Heya Dave. You must have been bewildered at the content. Not my usual fare in the least. Actually I didn't expect to have any reviews at all, because of that. It was just something I wanted to do for me in memory of my dad, and as well, for Marie because we talked about the song before and she encouraged me to work on it. I'm glad followed through, the procrastinator I am ! Thanks Dave (The Scot Down Under!)
Yay! You did it!!!
I love this song, & it brings back a lot of memories to me too!
My mother taught me this when I was a wee keelie in Edinburgh & you just brought her voice & face back to me Bill. Thank you!
Trying to type with tears in my eyes!
Braw job my friend! It's a canny wee song!!
Marie :D
Thank you so much Marie. I am glad you found it and that it means something to you too. You're a lass who'll never forgets she's a Scot at heart like I do. This one was for my dad who's Ayshire blood still runs in my veins. Raise your glasses te bonnie Scotland !
I downloaded your track. I find it very nice.
I am going to use as a track in a 3 minute video to promote a swimming pool new fin.
Would you kindly send me a release to do this.
When ready, I would let you know the site address.
Regardless of what instrument plays a latin variation it's never going to sound as soulful and warm as a guitar.
Very impressive and full of emotional charge. I can hear a lot of influences in your playing style and how you manage to combine them every time is amazing.
The first part is incredible, not that the rest is not as good as that particular part but I just feel every note in that part.
The fantastic intro doesn't disappoint. It leads you into a great track and your guitar sound and playing are such a joy to listen to. Love your precision and the phrasing has so much soul. Knocked out. I like the dynamics in the arrangement and the little bit of drama. Ah, harmony guitar section too. Fabulous. Majestic finish. Such a rewarding listening experience. Thank you.
From start to finish, this is excellent Bill.
The beginning feels so sweetly introduced with very fine notes that define what is to come...
This builds through every new beginning, which is an extension of "Beginning,00sec".
I have to admit(at my fault) that I forget sometimes that you can do this style of rock so well.
When we all venture off into the genres that we equally love it takes a track like this to remind me of your complete understanding of how complex Rock can be...and how it can also "move" you and produce emotion that we usually only give credit to acoustic ballads and emotional orchestral and cinematic pieces...but it is not so and this track proves and reminds me that Rock isn't just for headbangers but for all of us that can feel the melody and undercurrent, whether you're A musician or not...all music has the possible ability to reach down into your soul and produce the emotion intended, and you have once again achieved this with your knowledge, talent and heart.
I could elaborate for quite A while on your production,guitar...but you know I'm A fan and expect that from you,but this is about a song and you have produced something special.
