Hello, good music, I like how you introduce the instruments one after the others. It's clever and renders a good result.
Also...it's dancing...I like the tempo...reggae ???
hello danbo, thank you very much for takeing the time to listen and write such a kind reveiw. the tempo makes the song really, its set at 160bpm. dosnt really seem to be moveing that fast. and dub, reggae, chill out, i really am not sure were to place this as far as genre. again thank you. bless! Ark
I like this one better of the two fruits. This one has a better vibe to it. I'm digging the wobb and the structure of this one. I would submit this one for the contest if it's finished. The only tip I could give is maybe tone down on the vocals with the effects. Have them come in and out during track so you don't overkill the fx on vocals. Or switch up to reverb on some parts then delay then chorus or something so it's not the same through out whole track. Other than that it's dope and adding to favs...Have you seen these guys live? It's a fun show if you get a chance to see em I would...Blume :)
thanks man! i apperciate that! shes still in the lab, got till the 23rd. so input is good!
i only saw them once, i think it was rothbery '08?
but fo shuw de rocked it! plus i was hype jus being at a festie ya know. =}
haven't heard the source track but based on this set of dubs i need to track that down - i dig each of these fruit dubs almost equally but gotta land on this one - i like yr 'live' stylins so much it's really cool to hear you in the lab too. these tracks work for these old ears
greetings micheal! thank you for reviewing. i myself am leaning tword this one. my freind i very much appreciate the time you put in listening and reveiwing my sonic ramblings. if ever you want a 320kps of any tracks of mine, hit me up on my profile contact. i will ship it off directly.
bless!
I was logged out and saw this up on the featured tracks, wanted to check it out and now I've logged in just to say this is excellent stuff. Haven't heard your tracks in a while, but from this tune alone, I can see that you've improved a lot in a very short time (and you were good to begin with). There's just so much going on in this tune yet it all makes perfect sense together. The little bass is great and the percussion is my favorite part (probably the only two things that remain constant through the song), and everything around it keeps evolving in fascinating ways. I just checked the length of the song and it felt much, much shorter than 7:30 mins. Great stuff. Keep it up.
wow thank you! really glad you caught this one, i too think this is most deffinatly one of my better tracks to date. i had alot of fun with this one. its kind of the result of listening to radio axiom: a dub transmission by bill laswell and jah wobble. i had that particular album on loop for like three weeks straight. so it kind of mirrors some of the sound scapeing they achived.
again thanks, huge boost of confidance.
Peace! Bless! Ark
Theorem Dubwize= I feel as thou I am back at school, as ya riddimz are teaching me more Dub-allgebra :-0

Rasta 1-love!
Beautiful what you did here Ark. You've taken us to another place with this tune, I like it here/hear. Taking things up a notch seems to be your best skill set these days. Very well done!
thank you Bredd! a very healing dub session this one here/hear. very happy you caught this one! most definitely one of my better pieces to date. your kind words really mean alot! Big Up midwest Massive!
really awesome work. lots of textures in this track, and each one is allowed freedom to absorb into your mind. Great little dub bass line, and i like that dinky little percussion you have ontop of those funky beats.
thank you bobbybooth! im very pleased you enjoyed this track. it was a kinda nod to bill laswell(my favorite dubwizer, sides lee scratch). hence all the textures. this one was done in a one afternoon. seemed like it just fell together. again thanks for the listen and reveiw. be well, Bless! Ark
Liked this the first time I listened to it, like it even better the second time. Love the mix of sounds you have here, some of which I recognize because I've used them as well.
thank you john. i surely appreciate the listen and review. all of the sounds i laid out were done in reason on midi roll. then with this version i exported each channel as a stem dropped them into abelton, added some harmonic ping pong delay to certain stems. i am very happy with this one. i hope it is received as well as the original mix. again many thanks for the kind words! Peace and Blessings, Ark.
Hey man, still blows my mind this, its boggling what you done with the track i sent you, you just threw it into a whole new dimension and the last 30 seconds of this track is just awesome man i love it, built up and executed!
Sounding real smooth, great reworking. Tops.
gotta declare a pref fr the live mix (esp @ high volume) - that is until 4.30 where the studio sound really kicks in to these ears - no scholar but i do love what yr doing keeping the classics relevant!
hey thanks again! the bassline was just given me fits. sounded good playing thru media player and itunes, and audacity. but once i heard it thru the site player i sounded like it was clipping. so ive been fiddling around now for days to get it rite. i myself liked the flow of the live piece too. thanks for the ear and review, twice!
thanks! im uploading the final mix( i hope) as we speak. driven me nutty this one.everytime i hear it thru the loopermen player i hear somthing eles thats not rite. pretty sure i got it now tho. thank you for the listen and reveiw. peace!
The live approach cannot be beat if you're one of those that does it this way (I do!).
Very cool that you've brought a kind of Dubstep sensibility into a more roots driven Dub piece. I agree with Spivkurl about the placement of the vocals - almost like they're another instrument in the mix. Very nice!
lives the way for me! yes i tried to kinda merge old style and the new school a bit. i wanted to give it that real vintage sound, hence the graininess. still not sure if i went overboard on the bass. i dont have super expensive monitors or headphones but it sounds about right on what i got.
Definitely a good update, your mix sounds way better now! Thanks for giving me the heads up on the new mix!! I dig it! Very nice laid back vibe! Good stuff for my morning coffee and cigarette. Thanks for sharing!
ableton is massive! $99 for the intro version then $60 for a korg nano Kontroller. dub lab extraordinaire! ive only been messing with it for a few months. im really digging the instrument rack and it also has a full midi effects rack on board too. no plug ins chugging. thats why its so bomb for live flows. thanks fe da kind words! bless!
i am sorry too! i would love a partner for my dub sessions. somebody to go "hey man now thats a biiiit over the top. pull back hey." mostly all my tracks are done live flow. line um up n rock um! i just like the feel of the end result. thanks for stoppin' and listening.peace!
and if X=dub let A=delay, B=cut off, C=envelope, and D=resonate. find the resulting effects of the combined calculations of the sum of the factors............. he he. thanks for the listen bro, and huge compliment on the fav. peace and bless! ark
This is trippy man! Very cool live mix! I like how you've incorporated the vocals on this one, they're not the focus but they add a lot to the mix. It's cool that Ableton allows you to do such a cool live remix. Awesome track!
Thank you for the listen. Yeah bro ableton is a powerhouse for live perfomance type tracks. I have only been useing it for maybe 4 months or so, mostly used it for audio looping. On this one I took the midi rolls I had programed into reason and put them in the ableton instrument rack. Added a few audio loops and pressed play. Fun stuff! thanks again! Ark
its more glitch than dubstep, though it's obvious that it wanted to be dubstep. heck, remove the drumline and youve got an ambient peice. i love glitch and dubstep, and this is no exception
"Vietnamese Showdown" brought me directly here to see if you had any collabs up. You and Salook are a good sonic pairing. I think whether you know it or not, you're both influenced by Post-Industrial music and both in soundscapes like this, and movement motivating tracks like "Vietnamese" you translate that into dynamic, exciting music. There's a sense of deliberately creating emotional locations in your audience.
I think these are the deepest frequencies I've not really heard on a track here yet. I didn't know my cheap sub could generate wave forms that low. Whoa. Impressive work.
nomad thank you so much. yes i agree, Salook and i mesh well. i tell ya man doing these tracks with him was a blast. Salook is a brilliant talented and very deep artist. i could never of asked for a better partner. we had constant communication thrugh out the whole time. that man is a real class act! and those lows yeah man i went out on a limb. i was really afraid i over did it. its all about the expirementation right? thanks again brother always a pleasure to hear from you!
