Thanks for the listen Michael. I sometimes play with these guys in a dance band doing weddings/corporate functions and so forth. We do this number as downtempo smoochie respite from all dancy numbers.

Bravo jfw...I am old enough to have played covers of this one...recorded a cd for an old bandmate who is still attached to many of those great old instrumentals a couple of years ago and this is one of the tracks we did...great job on this one...superbly performed, and for me the bonus of some good memories....great job guys.....Ed

Thanks for the listen Ed. I guess I'm a bit like your mate in my tastes - I love well written melodic tunes and to get those you often have to go retro/vintage.

Cheers,

Jamie.

Hey Jamie

What a great feel you have here and I love the theme line and the harmony (guitar and keyboard??). Nice guitar sound too on the rhythm section. Lovely middle eight section - a bit of a dream sequence and it works well. It's all very thoughtfully done and illustrates your talents and musicianship very well. Lovely guitar solo - love that sound. Super job.

groovin style, dig the upward melody line. has a sort of Santana feel to it. Love the spaced out section when it breaksdown. Has an 80s feel for sure lol.. I hear like Sting in there too I think..

I can tell a few of your influences, neat. I love that when I didn't know I was specifically influenced by a band then realize after I listen to a song I wrote and go,.. coool !

thanks mate,
Neal

Hi Neal,

Tahnks for listening and commenting. It's true about influences - "what's in the roots" and all that. Although I like his post Police stuff, (and the Ploice stuff for that matter)I didn't realize my music sounded anything like his. It's quite possible that I share some of the influences that make his music sound the way it does.

Cheers,

jamie.

Hey Jamie,

It's nice to hear you have been busy :) This one is really nice....has such a nice jazz flavor. Everything is flawless in this one. Well thought out and even better executed. The piano is nice, but it is your stellar guitar work that puts this one over the top.

Beautiful job. I wish I had my favorite button back. I hope all is well.

Hi Jamie

Lovely to hear a well thought out piece of music and so excellently produced and played. Drums sound fantastic (well forward in the mix, brilliant) and that piano sound is so good. Your guitar is superb and fits so well with everything that's going on around it. Harmony guitar too - top job. Great ending. Just fabulous. Love it.

as always incredibly ez listening that belies the harmonic and emotional complexity - this makes me think of a collab between Michael Apted, Charles Shulz, and you on the ...Up docs - it is so good to see you, Jamie

Absolutely without a doubt a wonderful piece, got me mellowed about 5 bars in and caressed me all the way through....all I can say is WOW!

I was cut off from the net from around the end of July...didn't know anything about looperman changing....really missed all the great stuff I can listen too here.

Keep up the great work!

So, I'm back and checking in on some of my faves..

back to back plays on this one.. the sound is just so slick and polished. Everything can be heard crystal clear! no jockeying for headroom, no dissonance..

another great job...another pro quality production.

Hey Jamie

Love the sound of the drums (what do you use or is it live?) and those intro chords are fantastic. Harmony guitar work is simply wonderful. Excellent track, very well put together, such a thoughtful arrangement too. Lots of light and shade, a great journey, great guitar sound. Is there a guitar synth happening there too? Well done, great job. Love it.

jfw replied 17th Dec 2011 - 14 years ago
Hi Richie,
Thanks for listening. The drums are done by a session drummer - I downloaded them and built the track around them. The guitar harmonies were done on a Les Paul and the outro solo on a PRS Custom (for the whammy bar). There are little bits of Guitar Synth peppered throughout!
Thanks, Jamie.
