Were legit listening to this while microwaving food. I was standing there listening, and in my head I felt like no one understands me. I feel like I don't fit in anywhere in the real world. I feel like an outsider, just this weird thing just existing for no reason.

XyIlent replied 2nd Oct 2016 - 9 years ago
everyone is an outsider and you do start off existing for no reason but in time its up to you to find or create a reason for existing. Similar to the words in the song you are only given a little spark of life you need to turn that into something and not waste it.
For me its making music, its not the best reason nor is it the worst but its my reason lol

As for the no one understanding you, as long as you understand yourself thats all that matters. Dont be put down by the thoughts or actions of other people.

Ever need to talk about this shit just message me buddy :)

Pft.. you want me to give away vital production secrets!? haha jk
Its mostly a vst called dBlue Glitch it has a setting for slowing down the tempo, i just messed with the settings in that to get the desired effect.. Then for the end of it i think i used a vst called decimate to turn the sample rate down to give that noise effect.

Hope thats helpful :)

Amazing work! .. the track is flawless.. it does have a fraction too much bass for my own taste, but that is neither here nor there

Your musical talent is equally as strong as your sound production. nice job

thanks man, there may be too much bass. My headphones dont deal with bass well so i just have to go off the levels and EQ meter to gauge if its ok, but ill wait to see if anyone else has that problem too.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Maybe you could soften out your sounds? Make them a little more touchy when it's slow and really spark it up when it drops. Other than that, it's good.

Thanks for naming the genre 3 months after i uploaded it, was really wondering that one. Was sitting here just really thinking about the genre it was killing me but now you have relieved me of those thoughts, i now know. Its minimal chill out. Thank you sir, for your 17 character comment that clears everything up for me. I can now go on with my life without the crushing burden of what genre this is. Thank you good man, forever in your debt.

Well done technically and definitely has the out in space vibe. In case you don't know, my website is all about pairing music and art and I would be honored if you would take on something. Also - if you have a high resolution version of the art you made we can try to sell prints of it through the site. have a look and let me know what you think. Haha yeah im on the site remember? XD
and about the art, when i say 'artwork' its not great haha, im somewhat ok in photoshop so i create little scenes and stuff nothing i would feel good about selling.

Thanks for checking out my stuff Dan :)

Very smooth track here with really interesting instrumentations. I'd def consider it Electronic. The vocals are very mysterious and on point. Billy, assuming it's who I think it is, has never failed with his vocal style on anything he's on. You two together made a very good track. I would bring out the vocals a bit more, however that's just my preference. Cheers!

Hey G.O,

"Billy, assuming it's who I think it is"
Yeah im guessing its who you think it is haha

"You two together made a very good track"
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it

"I would bring out the vocals a bit more, however that's just my preference"

Yeah that seems to be the general advice on this, ill give it a shot

thanks for the feedback!

By bringing out the vocals more I mean not filtering them out cause that's how they sound. Or you can flesh out, and add more. Either should work

Hey, checked out the files, is there any way to get me the vocal stem without any effects applied? Raw will give me the most flexibility. Thanks :)

Can you send me the vocal with the music? Two stems: 1 vocal track without effects, and 1 instrumental track. I could try explaining to you the basics but every song is unique. I can try my hand at mixing the vocal and making it at the forefront and then explain what I did to make it so, should you like the sound I achieve. :)

Cool intro. The vocals sound quite modern. I'm not sure what your intention was for the vocal - if you intended it to blend, then you mixed it in absolutely perfect. The words are almost covered up by the music but still add a really nice, crisp element that the track needs. As Tumbleweed said, I think a little more moving on the bassline would help spice up this piece, though the song is pretty darn catchy as it stands. Kudos to you and your friend for this one, this is definitely a solid track.

No didnt really intend it to blend, how do i get the vocals more prominent in the track? I know you work with vocals alot so your probably the dude to ask hahaha so any suggestions? dont work with vocals a whole lot kinda suck at it. I just use my knowledge of mixing synths and stuff and it doesnt really translate to working with vocals i dont think.

cheers for the feedback Brando :)

Like the intro X....Kudos to Billy..really dig the vocal. It is a minimal mix...I usually like that approach as it lets each instrument and part sit clearly in place....yet it is really quite hard-hitting. The brick wall limiting which I avoid seems to fit well in getting the big driving sound on the drums...I thought maybe a more prominent bass line (that moves around a bit)would kick it up a notch...enjoyed it...big well done to you & billy....Ed

"Kudos to Billy"

BIG kudos, this track was DOA until i sent it to him. He sent this awesome vocal and i just ran with it haha

"It is a minimal mix"

Yup, i spent more time adding detail to a few synths and some weird sound design than going for loads of varied synths and sounds. Dont know if that was the right choice but seems to compliment the vocals well when it hits... i think.. haha

"The brick wall limiting"

To be honest i think thats more down to me not being particularly good at mastering, limiting, compression and stuff i can never get a good sounding mix without a somewhat brick wall going on.

"more prominent bass line"

Again.. more down to me not being very good at bass lol i tend to shy away from any big bassy sounds because they end up just sounding really bad

cheers ed, always a pleasure buddy :)

This production is almost perfect. The only thing I'd suggest is adding an electric guitar to play some type of melody to rid the beat of that empty feeling it has right now. If possible, maybe bring the vocals out a little cause they fit well with the beat. You should really get some more vocals on here cause this could be a hit. Also, for genre you should put under psychedelic cause it fits that way better than electronic.

- Billion

If you don't mind leave some feedback on my tracks. It would be greatly appreciated.

XyIlent replied 15th Aug 2016 - 9 years ago
hello :), yeah your right about the guitar i had the same idea but i just have no way of getting a guitar into my track so had to shelve that idea.
More vocals? we'll see.. maybe.

What do you mean by "bring the vocals out a little?" volume wise? or do you mean flesh it out and add more vocals?

Hmm yeah psychedelic seems to fit ill do that now! :)

thanks dude

"The sounds, that background + that kick pattern omg dude"

Some crazy synths in there, usually i'll make my own synths but for this i went out and messed around with some presents think thats why it ended up with a different feel than most of my other stuff.
I really wanna do another track like this soon but we will see :)

cheers for the comment greg :)

This is the kind of track that will put someone into a trance. I love the delayed/anticipated drum patterns. The synths and leads are very hypnotic, and have the power to really get shivers. Really smooth transition around 1:54, which changed the style, and set up the build up nicely. I would definitely submit this to a promo channel on YouTube or Soundcloud. I love this track!

hey G.O we meet again haha

"I love the delayed/anticipated drum patterns"
yeah its a strange drum pattern it was even stranger before i fixed it. The song is about madness so i guess an erratic kind of drum pattern (especially the hihats) was to represent just that.

"I would definitely submit this to a promo channel on YouTube or Soundcloud. I love this track!"

Yeah? never done that before ive always assumed if the track is good then people will find it but maybe ill give it a shot :)
