Awesome...truly awesome...10 or 11 years ago, when we played technical hardcore metal grunge prog etc...August was our hero... Constellations was the bible...
This one is best cover I've heard in this site...
Thanx for this magical 4 minutes...and the rememberance moments for the past...
You are my new hero :-)
Killer band, Killer song, but man does the world need another cover of this tune? Sorry but it seems every wanna-be guitarist out there has a cover on this.
I've got to say your a bit of an enigma. Im not sure if you are producing or actually playing or a combination of all three. Your track descriptions dont offer up much details. Im gonna take a shot here and assume since this is a cover and you refer to it as a demo, that you are most likely playing guitar. Your profile describes you playing guitar, drums, keys. Free up some details in regards for better reviews.
I really dig progressive metal and the baritone guitar thats become a signature element in defining it's sound. If your in fact playing on this, you've got some skills. This is really some technical stuff and just being able to make your way through this is quite a feat in itself. Its a little muddy in places but your obviously aware since you mentioned still having to clean it. I really dont know what more to say other than keep at it and definitely look forward to seeing/hearing more from you. I scoped out your other tracks but the descriptions are pretty much on par with this so again not sure what your level of involvement really is.
On a side note I will have to debate some with StaticNomad's reference to djent as a music style or genre. It really only relates to the detuned 7-8 string guitar setup and palm muted technique of playing.
Hey man thanks for the feedback! On this track i played everything except drums. I actually got the clean break from a friend because i couldn't recreate it. I used my TR-8 Rhythm Performer and liked the deep sound i was getting from them so i ran with it. I do agree that everyone and there mother has a cover of this but i just thought it was fun to play! I didn't think anyone would take in interest in my stuff so that's why i kept it vague lol. Anyway thank you for the positive vibes!
Hello. I believe this type of music is known as 'djent'. Strange word but I think it's something to do with that low end guitar chug. What do you think?
1:01 I like how close and dry the guitar is there.
Your drums are pretty damn good. How are you doing them? I love acoustic drum software and doing big, double kick stuff.
2:45 is rather a beautiful lead part that I probably would have liked to have heard a bit earlier. Could have been twice as long too.
Not much to say about the bass except it seems to be nestled tightly in with the guitar so its hard to pick out at all. Or maybe there is no bass guitar at all.
Oh no 5:05 I hear a bass guitar slide so must be bass guitar in here.
4:50 lead part sounds a bit like a wailing voice.
Not the kind of thing I listen to but really well produced for this genre. Can't fault the production or chosen sounds. Tight, no clipping, clean playing and so on.
Thank you! I usually track my acoustic set but on this track i used my TR-8 Rhythm Performer for the drums, they really have an amazing selection on them! Very fun to mess around with. Thanks again, Im glad you liked it!
Awesome music...everything in it, which shows why metal is so suggestive genre...huge drums, stunning rhythm guitar with super low tone, heavy and easy parts, rhythm breaks and odd rhythms...fantastic demo (you wrote it) it sounds better than the average products here...:-)
