very nice recording on Farisha's vocal... stunning tune :)
really enjoyed hearing this on here... is it just me, or is there like waaaayyyy too much hip hop, rap and dubstep on looperman. it shows when a song actually sounds new and fresh and fun.
very very cool job!
well done and hat's off to you guys :)
Thanks Minette - I'm glad you like it! On the issue of genres I'm really not very familar with those styles - in fact Dubstep sounds more like a dance!
Cheers, Jamie.
this is sooo awesome. really enjoyed the track... and love love the beat. any chance on you sharing the drum track as a loop?
let me know? would be very grateful to you if you do.
great job well done - has a haunting vibe - the flute is stunning.
Thanks very kindly Minette - the subject of this track is a young teenager now because even though I recorded this recently I wrote it some years ago! - she still shows no signs of apreciation though lol.
this is such a cool chill-out track - i put it up as a favourite 1minute into the track. Again, your topic, sailing in unknown waters... awesome imagery.
I love the way the beat comes in gradually at he beginning too... might have to try that some time... almost like a ship coming closer and closer...
Thank You! So you are first, congratulations :D. No.. now seriously. I personally take this song as an one which is most well-build tematically, maybe one plant helped:). Thanks again for your review!!
your voice is really sexy-sounding. and the topic - Icarus - has always been such a wonderful story to me. Daedalus & Icarus - flying high. The Indian vibe on the sitar rocked too! Love this track. I cannot stop thinking about the varied sounds coming out of the heart of Bohemia... birthplace of the Bohemians :) *smiles*
Hey JvR - I enjoyed the track. It builds well, and the piano and violin is just beautiful.
Definately cinematic... and lush. It reminded me a little bit (in parts) of my track (Sword By Your Side).
Hi Minette, I did listen to song as you mentioned - brilant piano, cello .. (I never touched piano in my songs:) simply .. heart touch. Medieval atmosphere. Only the vocals need to be turned down a little bit, they are too loud and that hall on it is at least on me too long. Those thing makes the rest not well readable.
I tried to figure out which parts but I am not sure which ones:), does not matter. Cool job!
such a cool "whiskey sipping" kind of tune. very nice and eshar's words are awesome in here. don't really know Pink Floyd that well (gasp - shock - horror)... hehehe, but i like the sound you've got going here! very nice tune.
Thank you for the kind words.
The lyrics came after I had contact with a man in South Africa who had lost someone close to him. Eshar's words seemed perfect. Even if my vocals have flaws, I'm quite happy about the song.

your tracks always sound like they're from another planet. so so beautiful, and i really adore the indian touches in there. cannot wait to hear draft II, III, etc. :)
The Examined Life is also such a great title... it immediately sketches this image in the mind of open fields and industrial landscpaes... opposites, yet harmoniously drawn together.
i think once you add in the ambient sounds it's going to sound even more awesome. love it!
I was thinking about interior landscapes behind this, and love that it can be brought out into physical ones as well. Thanks for that! It's about the union of opposites, and how "something else" is also created in the process. One plus one leads to the birth of the third.
I'm going for "the river of life" as an ambient motif now. Naturally, streams and rivers are too full of white noise to work, so I'm using gentle surf instead which emphasizes the wax and wane metaphor. I suspect I'll really need to distinct versions of this one before I'm done, to satisfy the two directions it really wants to go. Thanks so much for the review, Minette. I'm so pleased you like this!
hey cybertooth, i deleted the original file of this acapella (i'm dumb with computers!)
i love the track - but yeah - agree that the vocals are waayyyy too busy for it - so as soon as i get a second i will see about re-recording it for you.
will keep you posted on this. cheers for letting me know about the track.
only one guitar sample used off looperman i made everything else my self. iam new to cubase and this is my first track i built in there i normally use fruity and reason.yes me too i wish i cuold spit my mate smokio does and we are working on an album hopefully he will spit on this and use it. thanks for the review richard.
i like the tone of your voice, and the way your accent comes through. very nice! maybe try and rig a noise gate on the mic somehow? or simply pull a sock over your mic. works a little for me... as i don't have an expensive, fancy mic either. but the melody is cool.
i enjoyed your track. i would bring the track a little forward, as sometimes the rap sounds overpowering. but the lyrics are cool and your flow is great. nice job all round!
i feel ya on the vocals sounds a lil loud at times, but i just sent the beat and he did what he did, i think T-Dubb is redoing this one so ill update it for sure
i love anything dark and deep and mysterious! it's awesome to hear my acapella combined with other vocals... i love the tonal drone in the background. this is such a different mix to all the others I have heard of my vocals. it's refreshing, disturbing and thought provoking. in a word - stunning.
thanks for sharing.
minette
and i must also thank you, its hard to find words on here that go well with ambient of the darker variety. i like making people think, not just about the good things either. thanks for checking it out
hey there - what an awesome remix of my acapella! i like it...even if you had to autotune somewhat.
great job on this. thanks for letting me know about this! it's been faved :)
hey ... first time i listen to your tracks - only ever check you out in the forums! Your stuff ROCKS!!! this is sooooooo cool Stephen. Stunning job! I love the vocoder also, and the bass is so rubbery and phat! Made me want to bounce up and down in my seat (which is not a cool thing - seeing as we sit in an open-plan office :) )
the build on the vocals.. with the edgy/staccato accordion. such a juxtaposition of organic and metallic. love the track - thanks so much for sharing. i have to agree with koukotsu on the melodic use of percussion - it really is such a stand-out feature of your music. you're a genius! i love the way you fuse so many different worlds together.
My childhood - both blessing and curse - lol! The melodic percussion really is from my childhood in West Africa and Southeast Asia, and something I've come to fully embrace. When I straddle 5 or 8 hand drums, I always play melodic rhythms because they're interesting and easy to keep track of. Musically, I feel like a lot of my stuff is played with feet in two worlds simultaneously and the real surprise to me is that people actually seem to like it. Thank you so much for the listen and review. I'll be by presently to see if you've posted anything since my last visit!
this has such a pretty and peaceful melody. it's really lovely. it's completely had me drifting away to the magic cave. i just missed some of the piano in my right ear (where the bells are). maybe mess around with the panning a bit in this. that's the only "criticism" i can give.

I really like using the vocoders, simply because its good to add vocals into a song without causing the listener any kind of damage :)
