Love it, cant sayanything else really... makes me wanna ponder life and look outta window while its raining outside.. B-E-A-UTIFUL. did you work loops or MIDI with this one.?
ps. chicks who dig music software are hot!! Haha..
You know when I started out with Acid Pro it was in creative desperation. I was hoping that I would be able to string together simple melodies then pass them on to one of my guitarist friends or something and get them to make me a "proper" track. Not to say I don't like techno.. cuz I love it... but I didn't think I was capable of composing anything people would want to listen to! lol Now I LOVE using this software... it's my leisure time sitting messing around with synths and beats. This one was all loops... I was clueless what a vsti was when I did this track. First 3 were all loops... all my newer stuff is and will be midi based though, I like the control ;)
Yeah I really loved the tribal sound of the beat on this... I ended up combining a few drum/bass tracks to get that sound. Can't remember where I got the loops from, maybe here lol. Thanks for listening Slap, glad ya liked it :) Lisa
What I'm really hoping for eventually is to get away from loops almost completely but this was when I first installed the program and collected a load of loops (I had NO clue what a vsti was then). Thanks for listening :) Lisa
Thanks very much, I'm glad you liked it :) I was hoping to capture the feeling of aloneness... it was how I felt during that period of my life. Thanks for listening.
Thanks very much :) I was really hoping the echo would help keep the atmosphere of the song in tune because I love songs that carry that texture in emotion in them. Thanks for listening, I'm glad you liked it. Lisa
I did get a little distracted by the echo and had to listen to this song twice to get all the words, but I'm not saying that is a bad thing.
I enjoyed what you're going for here. I'm gunna grab my headphones so I can give this a proper listening. The drumbeat with the simple ambient tracks really help keep attention on the beautifly sung vocals. Good song, great message.

Yeah I was having a hard time tweaking the echo so it was just enough and I finally got frustrated and left it like this and let others decide if it sucked lol. Thanks for listening, I'm glad that you liked the song... nothing works better than life for inspiration to lyrics :) Lisa
The melody on this song is very celtic and mysterious, this reminds me of michelle tumes a little bit. (I don't think I spelled her name right) You live in Canada and it shows in your music. I'm Canadian too. One thing I think would really help your voice is to always be thinking about pitch. Use a piano and match melodies absolutely as close as possible. This song has some flat passages that are only a few cents off, but noticeable. Anyway, that's just constructive, not an insult. You have a wonderful voice. Keep it up. Waggly
Yeah.. I'm pretty much self taught with my singing and I kinda threw myself into this track. I probably should have spent more time practicing the vocal bit, but I have 2 boys, 11 and 13 (plus take care of an autistic child) so I have to take my recording moments when I get them lol. I have a cover I did of Situation a couple years ago where you can hear Brandon screaming in a tantrum on it in the kitchen. (Yep I need some studio space lol)
Thanks for the critique, it helps me... cool that you're Canuck too! :) Lisa
L - this track is sad and beautiful. There's nothing wrong with your vox, because your inflection emotes nothing but melancholy truth. I am sorry (or happy?) about your split, but you couldn't stay stuck. and dudes who abuse need to be held down and made to feel what it's like from the other side.
I like your new avatar also btw! and write me.
peace and music - Trey
Heya Trey :) You know enough about my story now to know what spurred this song. It's funny really because looking back I could have left so much earlier and I chose the "comfort zone" route. Duh. lol I am a lot happier now but sometimes stuff going on in my life digs up the old pain and I need to let it out. I used to do that with covers but it's just not cutting it anymore. Thanks for listening.. glad you liked this. x Lisa
I loved the first mix you put up of this track, so when i saw this one i had to have a listen. I must say i think you have done a fantastic job with. the vocals work well. it has a deep emotive feel, and after reading your description it's easy to see why. i think it's beautiful that you are maikng music from the heart and not out just to make money. although i think you probably could. peace and progress...
I'm glad that you liked this. I couldn't see myself making music just for the sake of a few $$... it takes too much out of me to only be for that purpose, you know? I am planning on putting together a cd once I have enough tracks worthy of it, mainly because I've been asked by a lot of the folks I did the karaoke thing with (and a lot of my friends as well). It will be a small production, I can't afford to go all out... and maybe I'll make some money to put toward my kids, who knows :-) ... but money or no money I'll still make music, it's not a want, it's a need hehe. Thanks for listening and for the nice review.
this is gr8 song thru n thru...the melody of ur voice really draws the listener thru the song like it should...rly made me just relax and take a deep breath...and im always on the go so thats a feat i thank you for
great track, great ambience ....
about the echo: for the effect you wanted to achieve I would have tried a very short but loud echo with just one repetition, the way you did it it sounds as you were in a very large cell .... but: I'm not sure if a short echo would sound good in the song ... just try and listen ...
anyway, I really like this track very much, most of all the bassline, it delivers a fearful atmosphere which is a very good contrast to your fragile voice - that's fantastic!!!
and I think that's the point of the story ....
Yeah... it took me a LOT of messing around in Adobe (and 2 vocal tracks) to find the right dose of echo... because I wanted it to blend too. I'm glad that the song came across the way you interpreted it, that was my intention (as you have obviously guessed). Thanks for listening, I'm glad you liked it :-)
The echo on the vocals sounds good, I like it. This song makes me want to drive around and look for someone that pissed me off. Good song, good emotion.
Can you pretend my ex pissed you off? OOPS did I say that out loud??? :-P I'm glad you liked this... I wasn't sure about the echo, was afraid it deterred from the song more than added (always afraid of my mixing lol) Thanks for the review :-)
Lisa - I think everyone starts out with the clashing newbie colors. Doesn't seem to have hurt your play numbers though. Or maybe people can't resist clicking on your smile. I think I mentioned in a past review how much I like your voice and if you had the notion and a new (or old) track, I would love to DL the accapella version for a rmx just don't go getting all shy. And hey, when the song hits the top dance charts we can cut the profits 60/40 as long as I get top billing featuring fiery (that's you) :P - I'm a man of my word and will not post anything until u review it first and give me the go ahead. Dont worry you'll get your royalties :) Just remember to save your vox in wav, aif or another uncompressed format NO MP3's. unless there's absolutely no other choice. Please upload your voice I'd appreciate it. Peace and music - Trey - or I could just scrub the music and....no I wouldnt do that. maybe
Goodness... the fact you've asked me to sing on something you've done is a HUGE compliment to me, especially since I've crawled all over your page and downloaded all your tracks! I would love to collab anytime you're ready! Thanks for listening Trey, I appreciate the review :-)
I love this song! You have a fantastic voice, it fits the song wonderfully. I read you description and I think you are your own worst critic. Keep these coming!
Thanks very much Bossle, I'm glad you liked it :-) Now that I'm starting to get more used to the controls in Acid Pro I feel less daunted. I appreciate your listen and comment... thanks!
Excellent track! you REALLY gotta bring your vocals up, though. You get lost in the music(which is dirty, smoky, dark, with a light breeze blowing across my face), and I really want more from you. I feel like you are standing behind the music. You have talent, so let it shine, girl!
Yeah I will keep that in mind for future tracks... I'd actually lost it all in my crash. I am still learning how loud is too loud (it would be easier if I liked my voice more LOL)
Great song and cover from a super band. This has to be one of their best songs, and you and Mr Robot have done it proud. Great voice Lisa, and great sounds from the King Robot. Cheers Slap...
This is one of my favorite songs, full stop. I really love Depeche Mode, and when Mr Robot asked me to do this I HAD to. Thanks from us both for listening! Glad you liked it :-)
LOL no wonder it made you laugh... I giggled when I saw that. Guess that's proof my vocals needed tunage eh? I actually said "water my lawn" although that gives me a really comical image now. Thanks for listening, glad you liked it :-)
They sit in well with the backing track. The arrangement is a great take. I like this as much as the original. I might have a track or 2 for you to sing on if you want. Keep in touch. ps.Thanx for reviewing
Hey, thanks for listening. I loved how Mr Robot changed the arrangement on this... made it seem so different from the original. I am always up for collabs, anytime you have something for me to check out just drop me a line! :-)
