I have zero idea how this gem of a track escaped me, but I'm sooooooo happy I have come across it now! Every facet of this production, IMHO, is perfection. From the arrangement, to the vocals. Thanks for the download, it's going into my top five rotation!
I instantly like the guitar and drums. However, the guitar intro is so very quiet that the vocal seems really loud as it comes in. Maybe just make the intro louder?
I don't like such a loud vocal but I know that's quite a common thing in lots of pop music. I'd rather hear more of that guitar and those strings when they come in.
I think the fade out ending is also well done - feels natural.
"my goal was to build a dj set, so, it's very repetitive, because I wanted to play it along with another track, and mix it live"
Sure, that makes sense to me. I'm not a DJ but I'm familiar with people doing this. Also, I know some people have music they have made cut to vinyl just so they can scratch it live.
I should say that I've got lots of respect from you for one simple reason - you've probably given me the best and most helpful review and suggestions when you gave me advice on my track called Rainbowcatcher a couple of months ago. There's far too much back-slapping and simplistic "Yeah, great track, loved it!" comments on this site so I really appreciate someone taking the time to listen carefully to something and make some helpful, genuinely critical suggestions as to how to improve problem tracks (which that track definitely still is).
I always try to write a reasonable amount and give time references for bits I liked and bits I thought were a problem. It's this kind of thing that I thought the site was suppoed to be all about (ie helping each other improve and giving a higher quality level of analysis than just the average member of the public) but I don't see enough of it. I'm improving all the time and am my own harshest critic and always welcome suggestions on how to improve.
To be honest, I don't get them very often, generally just people saying how much they liked a track and how they can't really fault it. I understand people can be nervous about offending people or aren't sure exactly how to express how they would like things to be improved. Maybe I'm wrong and Looperman's really more about congratulating people on what they've done and collaborating with others online.
Thank you for the kind comment...
What is funny is that acapella comes from a RnBish song... lol...
I like reggae a lot but I don't know the genre very well... I'm still learning...
I'd just kill to build a true knowledge in that style, but you know, here in France, apart from Bob Marley and Peter Tosh... There's no real reggae culture...
If you have some good reggae tracks to help me discover, don't hesitate to tell me, I'd be very grateful...
well colleague Soap , according to know U're a knowledgeable musician who can calculates musiX matemathicallY too , it's interesting for me to see U've tried on something Rap .
whaT U've written is cool & a nice considered tune & when theme changed for a while & got an eastern taste for a while , I was convinced for fav mark . best wishes.___Behnam
Actually, this track was done back in the time I was trying to work on rap. My first steps in the culture, since I am rather a rock child actually... This period of my life opened my mind to new music, and the guy I was working with was fond of musical blend, so I did my best to include various feels in his tracks...
Learning time you know lol
Well, thank you for taking time to listen and comment, and this encouragement...
Chris, I've been away most of the summer, but it is always a great feeling to come back and discover jewels like this one. Pete is such a huge talent, and when you put him in the mix with your amazing musical abilities, you have a recipe for success.
This is terrific work from start to finish. Like the others said, you could bring the music up a bit, but that is just nit picking at this point.
Well done gents. Great way for me to top off my evening. Hope all is well.
Hey Bear, it's good to see you're back here on the loop !!!
Thank you for the kind words. To be honest, I was a bit discouraged by this track before I sent it to Pete, and I'm still amazed by his capacity to "know what to do" immediately...
I'm glad you liked the song, and I hope there will be some other ones for you guys...
What the faaaaaaaawk! So chill dude! Im going to fav this and download this one, very talented singer and nicely done song, it fits like glue, never ever change this! Some real talent on this website!
Sick track Soap! I can't understand French but this ill. You guys sound like you ripped it up. And that beat is dope. The production is on point too. This ones a Fav. Truly nice work.
Yeah, shame about the quality but you can probably apply some tools to brighten it up, n'est-ce pas? I'm guessing you took this from an old DAT tape or ZIP drive or something.
This isn't the kind of stuff I'm especially into though I do love loads of the sounds, especially that 303 synth arriving around 1:30. I think that delicate little lead part that repeats so many times probably repeats too often. It's good and interesting, just too repetitive for me.
It's good stuff for a dancefloor but too repetitive and samey for me to really enjoy at home (like a lot of music in this genre). In some ways, that's not even a criticism - they're different environments and I accept that.
Hey Static thank you for taking time to listen and comment... ;)
Actually, when I wrote this track, my goal was to build a dj set, so, it's very repetitive, because I wanted to play it along with another track, and mix it live... And it never happened lol...
Since that time, I moved to a more tech-house set, I discovered Ableton Live, and completely left this kind of music...
As for the quality... I didn't have much gear, and I missed some point in the mp3 conversion so... :D
This is so good ... that I have to ask you to really consider what PlanetJazzBass said: you need to bring up the music a bit. Specially in the chorus. Don't let Pete's wonderful voice alone.
If the song was not that good, I wouldn't have said anything. But man, you have a really professional hit here. It deserves the last bit of work which will make it perfect.
Ciao, Domenico
Thank you very much. I'm really glad you enjoyed the song. I'll definitely have to work the mix again... I never doubt on any advice coming from a looper... I know you guys know what you're talking about, and it's always a pleasure to read such constructive advice which I know I can blindly follow.
