Ah thanks! Glad you felt the funk. Love making funky grooves. Your stuff is amazing! Always dug the space funk instrumentals and you guys are quite excellent. Do you have anything out on other platforms? Guy
Haha the EP is already I think 15 songs ago and I'm planning to bring out an album in summer :)
It's doing well actually - by my standards. It has some streams on the various platforms and I even sold 4 physical CDs :D
Now let's see if the album can sell 5 ;)
Thanks man!!
Holy funk. Very cool track. Great keys and synth. Part of me wants to say it wouldn't sound out of place on a Grace Jones album, but could be wide of the mark there. Said it now tho...
Many thanks for your kind comments my friend! You make some great tracks yourself. Your stuff does sound very polished and I can hear your influences in them.
Well I've hidden some of my earlier tracks from 2018 ;)
It's a learning process. I found a local studio with some guys who know a lot about mixing; I take a lesson every half year or so, and each time I learn a great deal. But in the end that's not the main thing; just make sure to keep making music, keep enjoying it and keep improving bit by bit!
Very funky! I like the bass, careful to make the keys not too overpowering.
Since you're playing your instruments live like me, make sure to "warp" your tracks a bit to correct for errors, so the beat is sychronised in all your tracks.
It may feel like cheating a bit, but it makes it easier to hear the music, so it's really to the benefit of your track :)
Thanks buddy for the advice on the 'warp'! You are right about the keys too. This was an 'in the moment' jam and I was so pleased with the feel I didn't spend much time listening to the details. I like your mixing down on many of your tracks. You seem to get the balance right across all the instruments.
It's very funky! I personally would prefer to hear a bit more of the instruments and less effects. If that's a Zoom Gx3 or similar, I personally found that while that works pretty well for guitar (some of them anyway), don't do it for bass, and certainly not for keys.
Still, as said, it's funky, and funky means GOOD in my dictionary :)
That is a delicious beat and bass loop and the guitar makes it even better. The thing introduced from 0:49 is less my taste, but I might just rip off that bass and guitar idea because that is absolutely awesome. It could be a Bootsy Collins thing, that's how delicious it is.
Instead of the pingy synth, I think it could fit a good rap and make it even stronger!
Glad you enjoyed it buddy! Go for it. Good call on the synth thing. I was a little unsure myself -= it seems to lessen the funksomeness ... Be good to hear what you create with it.
