This concept reminds me of my father's exploits on the violin .... in my young and tender years.
Frankly I found this track very late (Thanks Danke) but I'm not disappointed by what you have achieved.
Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli have rocked my youth .... especially that my father comes, as Django, of a great people of musicians .... that we could appoint "Gypsy" .... (Tzigane in French)
Thank you for sharing this moment of another age .... The effects of sizzling, as an old 78s is successful ....
I am very troubled by what I hear.
Thanks, Dan. This one has always been a favorite of mine. I started appreciating the real early stuff later in life. When you're young, you may find it a bit corny, but a musically intelligent mind can always hear the genius in early music even going way back to the classical masters. I put the record scratches in for effect, but I wish we could hear the old stuff in the high fidelity of today's technology.
Oh yeah, Now your cooking, Sweet yeah This is retro to the max. I use to go down to the village and jam in the clubs and now here you are bringing back those sweet memories. Nice track.
This is QUITE BRILLIANT!!!! Ramsey is from my hometown...we are both native sons of Chicago. I think he'd be boppin' his head to this one if he were ever to here it! Well done, you!
Many thanks, Mykael. Chicago produced some great musicians and Ramsey was one of the greatest. I've been trying to recreate some of the earlier styles of jazz, soul, and funk lately. More later stuff is on my soundcloud site: http://soundcloud.com/scottb55 if interested. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
I love the way this starts, and of course I love the live atmosphere. Those horns are so yummy.
If I remember correctly the Quincy song you are referring to, toward the end, breaks and then keeps playing. I could be thinking about a different song, but this sounds very good! A nice addition to the looperman collection.
Thanks allot, Patricia, glad you liked it and took the time to comment. Actually, I was mistaken. It was the Ramsey Lewis Trio that did the version I was thinking of. I had the Quincy version, but it's more of a big band sound. Here's Ramsey's version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rv3pT2JV66g
It even starts out with the crowd noise and clapping.
Oh man...this is really exceptional Scott...ageless music performed with big talent...really enjoyed the listen & great respect for the talent...superb job (great to hear real drums...wish I could get a drummer to move into my neighbourhood).......Ed
Thanks allot, Ed. I really appreciate your comment and kind words. Yeah, I'm a drummer and was a percussion major at Univ. of W. Fla., so I pretty much use real drums and percussion almost exclusively now. Some of my earlier stuff had the synth drums.
A really good moment of music, for me this morning, with this great track .... Sound of the 60s as I listened to religiously in the cellars of St Germain des Pres .... But there is so long.
Thank you for sharing this great moment.
Thanks allot, Dan. Guess I'm showing my age, but that old soulful jazz still stands the test of time. The newer stuff just doesn't have that same soul!
After some time away, I'm glad to hear you again.
It is for me, a treat this morning. Really a very elaborate track. As usual you put your musical personality in before .... Really a great time, and thank you for sharing.
Many thanks, Dan. Your comments are always refreshing to read. I've been updating my music software with the help of Midi-Man. It took me away from my creations for awhile, but I'll be even better with my updates.
Thanks again, and I plan to check out your latest.
This confession may date me, but I heard Stephane Grappelli play live at a concert hall in Madison WI decades ago. The hall was not large but it was full. Wonderful effects here, and the Big Band and vocal moments are inventive and wild. I could comment on so many tracks on your page. . . but I chose this one.
No Worries, UChris. I have a few miles on me, too. Glad you appreciate my style. I love the older stuff, but like to give it a modern feel and add lots of drums! I appreciate your comment.
