A whiff of the psycedelic 60ies, early seventies in there too. Cool guitar and I like your chanting. Man, I dig this.

that would explain alot the mix sounded like you were holding a mic up to a speaker the mix was low and very static this tune is not direct to the speakers but i can see you put a great deal into making these tunes keep them coming.
Rats
Rats replied 1st Mar 2012 - 13 years ago
actually it was all recorded direct but the analog equipment and software i was using contributed to the overall low-fi sound, which i am slaven unto

Coolness...keep in mind that Funken trax tend to be long, and therefore much compression is sometimes necessary in order to load the bloody thing. I have all these trax in .wav format. I am quite certain that if you guys had these original mixes u could tweak them eq-wise to your preconceived notions, thereby perhaps making them accessible to the audience they were originally created for. As for whether it would "live up to the expectations of a release", perhaps u did not look at my reply to endtransmission; the video is going to be banned everywhere, and Funken's stage show will be no different. I have read all the reviews. Kudos dude and thankee-sai for taking the time to listen; I WILL keep them coming, now that u guys have lit a FIRE under the @$$ of Funken.

LOL yeah it can be trying at times...I continue to push the s#!t as far as I can...hopefully I will get a replacement distortion pedal within the next week or so, but I do not know how my DOD American Metal will EVER be replaced! Piece of American S#!T If I cannot replace it, I am going to SMASH it...sort of off-topic I know, but VIOLENCE BEGETS VIOLENCE

Were you blazing when you did this one then? Haha!
Sounds like an interlude from an old Beastie Boys record fam, like a modern day Brass Monkey or something.
Rats
Rats replied Unknown
LOL blazing=definately...I had heard of these peeps who take energy drinks and snort coke and dance at these raves until the sun comes up, and one night while smoking huge buds and listening to old Kraftwerk I had a vision of people dancing while coughing up great spongy curds of blood upon the dance floor, continuing to dance on the bloody stumps of their legs having worn their feet away. The video will most certainly be banned everywhere when and if I decide to create it.

Recording on drugs, always mixed results I used to find. God knows how you made a track on Acid. It's got some nice elements still.

Thank you for the kind words loc. As to how I did it, your guess is as good as mine. All I can remember is a chaotic blur of complete nonsense.

Hell yeah! an istant fav. I'd like a bit more level on the vox. But man, this is f***ing great. Intense 1:45 minutes.

Rats
Rats replied Unknown
Thanx dude nuff respect! I suppose by now u know how I feel about vox hee hee...I treat vox the same way I would treat any other instrument in the mix; if it sounds good f@#k it. This was a particularly hard song to record because of the subject matter, and also because I was completely WASTED for the vocal track. And the funny thing is this, I was even more wasted for THIS vocal track than I was for the Blast Aria track and THIS is more coherent! Go figure...

It always makes me all warm and tingly whenever someone talks like that, same feeling I get whenever I do these songs live although I can't do this one live because I cry when I sing it....Thank u for the kind words dude, an since u like it so much, I will tell you how the track came to be, although it will be hard for me.
When I was a sixteen-year-old idiot me and my friend Roger (guitarist of the band Mastoid) did something really REALLY BAD! Well, 2 things actually. I found out later that one of the first outward manifestations of child abuse is cruelty towards other children and animals. I shall not tell you EXACTLY what seagulls, squirrels and peanut butter have to do with that, let's just say that it was extremely nasty. Because of the ridiculously shitty things we did, to this day both me and Roger would not even lift a finger to squash a cockroach. Strange how differently you now think about ridiculously heinous things you did when u were a brat, isnt it?

This is very amusing. Sweet idea, demonstrates a great idea. Up the production a bit, and this track will be awesome.

Love it

Hiya John, I really like YOUR stuff as well! The production is what it is. Most of these Mulchefye tunes are from a period of my life when I was attempting to drink myself to death; everything from the "Mulchefye" self-titled album straight through till "No" Volume 2 is from that despiceable period in my life so no apologies for production or sound quality will be made. I was very VERY drunk. Sorry bout that NO I'M NOT

A very hypnotic track. Well conceived and well executed. Like something out of the 60s underground music scene.

I would have downloaded this baby if it available. Anyways, I faved.

There is also another version of this song, Light Eater PCP which I might make available for dl. This version was played and executed entirely under the influence of LSD way back in 2002, I still dont know how I got it to sounds so good, all I remember about recording it is total chaos. I will make this song available for dl for the next 24 hrs or until I sign in again, so go ahead dude. I am gearing up to print all of these tunes onto a 33 rpm vinyl dupplate as soon as I find a way to do it...who amongst yas would pay ten bucks for a copy? album is going to be called "No".

PS "picobat" means "play in case of bad acid trip"....I can help a lot of people with this hee hee

Funny cool track! I like the "speed thrash deathcore" part, that's awesome! Paul must be really important to you, to give a shout like this. Nice entertaining track!
Rats
Rats replied Unknown
Thank ye kindly for the most excellent review; yep u r right on the money loc...the f@#kin guy and his wonderful family saved me from drinking myself to death in a cockroach-infested apartment back in Montreal. It was during this ridiculous period in my life that most of the newer tunes were recorded. Now Damnation has once again been resurrected from the dead, but I will NEVER play in Damnation again, EVER, without Paul Vallieres. Plain and simple.

hey man fix the sound and then you got somthin. nice track.
Rats
Rats replied Unknown
yeah yer both right as rain, but it is what it is; I tried to fix it by eqing the hell out of it but this is really the best i could do, the recording is circa 1996 and the actual tape itself is manufactured in like 1980 or something....perhaps I should cover the tune with my Mulchefye project but i have no idea wtf Koukoulas is saying in it most of the time and I cant find her anywhere! GRRRR PUNK GIRLS...

The Devolve trax were uploaded from an old reel which spent 2 days underwater in 2004...its a wonder that i actually got anything from it at all...like i said eq was fruitless...good thing i managed to get these uploaded before fire burnt up the reel...

on Devolve-How much I hate you by Rats
wow was not ready for real punk rock with that bad ass drummer and the guitar sound is wicked and the compression of the voice is nice great skills
Rats
Rats replied Unknown
Thanx for the fantastic review homie but I cant say i actually played the drums on this one, I just programmed em....this tune, like the new one I uploaded, was recorded back in 1996 but a little later when I had started mastering the songs on cd directly from the four track and 8 track Tascams we were using at the time; guitar was a Godin 6 string run thru a little tiny Peavy with the meanest built-in distortion Ive ever heard, hooked directly out of the headphone jack into the tascams; the compressed voice would b the big fat orange distortion pedal called the Zoom driver (wtf happened to that bloody thing I would PAY to know)

This has a cool sound to it! Love that old school tape feel to it! I am partial to using kids toys in my music too, though I usually modify them. Totally fun track! I dig the typewriter sounding percussion. Well done track!
Rats
Rats replied Unknown
Thanks dude; only hassle with using kids toys is u have to take them apart to get a line in off the speaker, but small price to pay. Yep yer right as rain again, recorded entirely on tape and digitized after. Your perceptions serve u well dude.

Thank u for the kind words kitty-cat but I surely dont think I am better than anyone up in here; Im just different is all, I approach digital recording with an old school head, I dont really care about new technologies, go ahead THROW out that old tower, Im the dude lurking in yer DUSTBINS....I will scavenge ANY old school CRAP that you might find at a garage sale for 5 pounds (CDN) and I will NEVER record ANY music on ANY OTHER OPERATING SYSTEM other than Windows 98...anything else is TAPES man, word up
